I’m Freya Pierce, and I’m about to be a freshman at Mate Academy, a boarding school where paranormal beings go to find true love. But before any of that happens, I have to make my debut into the paranormal world at the Four Kings’ party. Hosted by the four rulers of our realm, it’s not just any party. In one night, I have to find as many guys who want to be my future mate as possible. If I don’t find any options, I’ll be considered a Red Flag. And I can’t be a Red Flag. Finding a mate is key to my family’s legacy. And as a King’s daughter, I cannot disappoint. The pressure to find The One is on.
This 28,000+ word novella is part 1 of Wolf Mate Academy.
This was short but it had enough mystery to keep me intrigued and want to red the next book. How was someone able to mark her without consent and why are the threatening her?
Surprised paranormal book , intriguing give ing of brackets as marriage promises . With a last Minuit hidden suites our main female character receives a threat leaving us high and begging for more !
So one day you wake up as a high school student prepping for cheerleader tryouts, and by the time you hit the pillows you're A werewolf princess. Surprise!
What I liked -Plot. The main story around this book was much different than what these authors have given us in the past, and I'm here for it. (Until the last two or three chapters where it becomes an academy series like all the rest.) I liked the idea of the dance and the bracelets was a really cool and individual thought that I haven't read about before.
What I disliked -Freya. The main character is a total cliché. "Oh, I had no idea that I was a princess in a paranormal society that my family kept me in the dark about. I had no idea any of this existed until now, but I'm going to be completely blasé about it and just accept it all at face value. No freak out, no denial, no adjustment period." It's really obnoxious to keep reading books about main characters that are all the EXACT SAME PERSON. Just a different name. Honestly, what's so wrong with a main character that already knows what she is at the start of the series? -Marco. He can't decide if he wants to be a fearsome bad boy, or a lovesick teeny bopper. What few thoughts we get from his POV are all over the place, and it's confusing and not realistic. I don't care for his relationship with Freya at all, and more than once he either uses his powers of manipulation on her or talks about using them to get his way. It's honestly gross what little attention the authors give to pointing out how wrong that is. It's like Edward the Stalker all over again.
Overall, this was an interesting enough first book to get me invested in reading the next, but I have a feeling it's going to be a boring, run of the mill academy story. Just different enough to hook you in. 1.5
Even though I was curious about the secrets, I was bored. I know she liked Marco, but I had no idea why. The five seconds they interacted at the beginning didn't make me any more interested in them. Even his POV only made me mildly more interested. It wasn't until I skipped to the last chapter trying to decide if it was worth continuing and read #10's note that I really became interested and hopeful that Marco wasn't her end game. After going back and reading and still hoped Marco wouldn't be her mate. He compels her and she just lets him talk her out of being angry about it even thanking him which really annoyed me. The part of the story I enjoyed the most was meeting her roommates. By the end of the story Marco was the only one I didn't want her with even though you barely meet the others. The book held my interest enough to want to at least continue to book 2.
I read this book out of curiosity. I was taken totally off guard by the female lead knowing absolutely nothing about her family and their paranormal tendencies and royal status, even though he lives and interacts with them daily. Then I was thrown by the lack of information on her debut and the subsequent actions of her mother plying her with wine and expecting her to not embarrass the family. After the ball, some explanation and a new school the story has me wanting to read more and hope she doesn’t continue a clueless character. I eagerly look forward to her development.
This story had and has lots of potential but also lots of flaws. The mind reading is more than a little annoying and I can see it being a hindrance. The story felt like the start of a book not a whole book. I think the story needed a little more world building and connection before the first book ended. It very much gives early Disney fairy tales and has me wanting to quote else with “you can’t Mary (mate) a man you just met!” I’m not sure this series is for me but I really do feel it has potential.
Read April 22 (in one sitting ) I love the way the book kept taking twists and turns and felt like I was always on my toes. Definitely peeked from the beginning but I will never Understand her parents line of thinking especially as the are royals it makes no sense to have kept Freya in the dark. They say it was the rules but seems everyone else knew. Then Marco, when he arrived at her home he seemed cold and then at the ball says he always felt the same. Whoa Bring on the academy.
The only reason I am giving this book 4 stars is because there is some foul language within. I like close door books with just a little bit of non spicy romance and no foul language. I found foul language unnecessary in books. However I did love the plot in the story.
I have been reading the morse sisters books since they started writing, I have yet to be disappointed! This book has such a unique concept that I was intrigued and finished it in an afternoon! THAT ENDING THOUGH!!!! I am (not) patiently waiting for the next in this series!!!!!
This is gonna be good. Freya, I believe, is going to oick all 3, and this mystery #10 is in for a big surprise. Marco is definitely already in love with Freya, and I don't know if Chase and Holden are or only because she is a princess.
So because there were so much suspense I wanted to keep reading and I was asking question and there were like not being answered I can’t wait for the next book I really want to know who #10 is and will she pick her long time crush or fall for someone else
Wolf Marked Part 1( Mate Academy #1) 😂💝🥹 ABSOLUTELY LOVED 🥰 THIS BOOK ….. Wow I could not put this book down. I love reading this book I do not want to spoil anything…Cannot wait for more......Definitely recommend this series…..
It’s wasn’t bad but i just feel like i just read a children’s book. And Marco… idk hope i feel about him he seems like a red flag. She says she doesn’t like him doing certain things and he still fits them .
Interesting start… lots of plot holes. To short really. Started it this morning before work and with my 1 break at work I finished it off. I can’t wait to read more
Follows Freya as she discovers she is a paranormal princess and has to find a mate. Overall I was interested and would like to see where the stroy goes.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. Welcome to Mate Academy, which is a boarding school where paranormal beings go to find true love. This is the story of Freya Pierce, she’s about to be a freshman at the academy, but before any of that happens, she has to make her debut into the paranormal world at the Four Kings’ party, which is hosted by the four rulers of their realm, so, it’s not just any party. Finding a mate is key to her family’s legacy, and as a King’s daughter, she cannot disappoint. The pressure to find The One is on. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I highly recommend to everyone.
