USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author Rita Herron fell in love with books at the ripe age of eight when she read her first Trixie Belden mystery. But she didn’t think real people grew up to be writers, so she became a teacher instead. Now she writes so she doesn’t have to get a real job.
With over ninety books to her credit, she’s penned romantic suspense, romantic comedy and YA novels, but she especially likes writing dark romantic suspense and crime fiction set in small southern towns.

Starts off rough and right to the point. Child molestation at an orphanage is the back drop to the story/mystery of this novel. No specifics but the idea is planted. Elsie Timmons left at the orphanage at age 14 witnesses terrible things and after setting the place on fire, flees with another young girl. She spends the next 10 years running and hiding and finally returns to the orphanage where accidents keep happening to her. Obviously someone is trying to kill her to shut her up.

Private investigator Deke Falcon is hired by Elsie's mother to find her. I really like Deke and think that he is the right person to help Elsie out of this trouble and put her life back on track. There is a whole lot going on and this book probably could have been a little longer to really flesh out the story and the danger. I felt sorry for Elsie right from the first chapter and really hoped she'd stick it to the bastards who were involved in the coverup.

I really enjoyed this intriguing Romance. I voluntarily chose to review this and I've given it a 5* rating. This story grabbed me from the beginning and kept me turning the pages. It had some interesting twists and turns that kept me guessing till the end. There is more than one bad guy. Because of the violence, I don't think this is for the under 18 readers. I felt for both the hero and the heroine, both of whom had gone through so much. It had an amazing ending.
