she is power,
she lights up even when
her whole sky is dark,
she finds power in being alone;
in isolation.

she is music, she is poetry, she is art.

she needs her space.
she goes through phases.
she is very often incomplete -
in the event of an eclipse, the chaos
of the earth will dim her light.

but in time she will rediscover
herself for a rebirth and a revelation.
she will be new. she will be full.

again and again and again.

The poems lack depth, they have an amateurish feel with strong hints of banality. There's an excessive use of space, most pages only had two lines (Poor Trees!). Personally, the book fails to leave a lasting impression or evoke any significant emotions (page 188 did bring about slight feelings of hope), which unfortunately makes it feel like a waste of both time and paper. Curious when I saw my colleague getting this book as a gift, but I guess curiosity killed the cat.

Maybe the expectations were just too high but I ended up with a mere - “oh...” after going through the pages.

Appreciate the usage of mix languages; however, the "Malay" ones tend to be inclined towards the Indonesian language? No hate, obviously. That's what I noticed.

I simply do not understand why poetry books are typically more expensive when, in reality, they have far fewer words than fiction.

Is it to compensate for the aesthetics? Who knows. Love the cover though.

Salaam Everyone! This is my first time review buku poetry. I used to be a Lit student back in secondary school, and as I was reading this book I try to break it down to find out more behind the meaning of every poem.

To be very very honest, ada some parts of the poem I understand completely the meaning behind it but some got me confuse. I find it interesting to mix english and malay poetry in one book. But I wish that there is more of malay poetry than english.

Every chapter of the book, i do have my favourite poetry and I even spend a little bit more of time to analyse the poetry in depth.

To Kak Daiyan, I truly enjoy the book! However I wish that your next work will be more of malay poetry because I truly wish to read more malay poetry that you write, i feel them the most. But Good job for taking the step to publish Tulisan sebab it must mean so much to you and thank you for sharing it to the world:)

i enjoyed reading it so much. but the first half of the book felt a little bit unoriginal and as if i was reading quotes off the internet. maybe i couldn’t truly “merasai” the poetry? but page after page i couldn’t genuinely get into the feelings i was wishing a poetry book would give. also read one of the reviews that said it lacked depth and i do slightly agree. tHOUGH, the last 3 chapters of her book, about her journey during the pandemic, the miracles and about mecca was soooo good. those chapters actually felt like it was telling a story, and felt original, and had meaning. like a diary entry of sorts, something that came from her. if ukno what i mean? either way, i loved it regardless. daiyan has always had a way with words so i have to give it to her for that. her songwriting is living prove. can’t wait to see future improvements on her book writing.

I always look forward to Daiyan’s writing. I’ve seen her expressed her feelings in tweets. I love how she expressed it. I know, when she expressed it, she did it wholeheartedly. The poems in this book are mostly about getting yourself up when you’re turned down by others. That’s how I see Daiyan too. Her personality is all written in the poems. I can feel her sincerity in writing.

Besides, there’s also some poems that talks about humanity. I love that too. Sometimes, we forgot to appreciate our surroundings, and that’s where you missed your opportunity in truly living your life. I love this book a lot, I almost tabbed all the pages🥹. Ngl, there’s some poem that are super short and cliché, nevertheless, I still love it. It’s like a reminder for me. This book actually consists of two language of poems. As for me, I prefer the poems written in English as I feel it more in my heart.

If you love some cozy, motivating and healing poems, this book is for you. This book is a book that I’d love to pick up again next time when I feel demotivated, sad or when I want to wind down✨

Tulisan - Daiyan Trisha

This book is special to me. It will forever be.

I've always known Daiyan as an actress, a celebrity; she has the talent (and I presume the dedication and hard work) to go far & climb the ever-expanding ladder of the entertainment industry.

Never would I've guessed she writes.
And publishes what she writes.

There's a certain spiritual experience reading through this book (as if with any other poetry / narrative-based books) - to live through Daiyan's own thought processes and introspections, that many of us have had - laid on our backs in the midnight silence, staring blankly at the ceiling; but have mostly just keep within ourselves. I certainly know that feeling very, very well.

Above all, this book taught (or reminded) me several key components for self-acceptance:

• to forgive and accept myself first, to then have the heart to forgive and accept others
• to let our past traumas fade away with complete submission and understanding
• find the strength within ourselves to accept the pain, be vulnerable, letting go for the utmost necessity for control
• be comfortable in confronting our emotions: welcome them, bask in them, appreciate them
• soften our ego to admit our past mistakes and errors in judgment
• believe that we are the MIRACLES that we need in our respective lives

Thank you, Daiyan Trisha, for this miracle.

This is my first time reading Daiyan's writings. I did not know she writes poetry until she posted it herself. Ever since this book went public, I couldn't get my hands on it until a month ago. And I started reading it today and just finished the book as I'm typing this out. Simple way of writing but she delivered it deeply and wholeheartedly. I'm only a tad bit stressed at the amount of spaces that is left and wasted in some pages 😂 but regardless, poetry is on point. I hope, in the future, Daiyan's writings or next book would lean more towards Malay, because I just love her Malay poetry in this book and the way she delivered it especially with which relates her journey to finding Allah's love. And because I actually cried to the last few chapters of that part. I hope this book, too, brings her big success.

This book has some good poems but most are meh when comparing to literature standards. I still admire that the author has the courage to publish poems. Think of it like a talented Wattpad online story teller who finally published her Art. It's pretty good for Pinterest vibes and level.

A lot of people trash on this book which I disagree, Art needs to be taken in from who it is made too. In this case, it's made by an amateur poet who had the balls to publicise it, and that I admire.

The poems will hit hard for anyone looking for simple empathy or "relatable" things because it covers a lot of internal issues and conflicts.

I would recommend you Tiktok doomscrollers to read this book as I believe it will entice the public masses (who succumb to the overhype of this book) to read more, and that I support: getting more people to read no matter how they start off.

I can see why people are grumbling about the waste of space, and there are quotes or poetry that can be seen as common or not poetry-ish. As someone who loves writing poetry, I can feel the feeling of betrayal, hatred, and fury through the writing. Hence, I personally think it is beautiful. Poetry doesnt need pretty, big words that require multiple read to understand; it requires feeling.
