Suzanne Cass has always had a fascination with the tough resilience of people who live in our amazing red-dirt outback country. Much of her adolescence was spent working as a jillaroo in the Snowy Mountains, forming her love of lean, enigmatic, cowboy heroes in wild, passionate, dangerous stories. When not writing about the characters that inhabit her head, Suzanne can be found prowling the Perth beaches with her border collie, or yelling from the sidelines as her two sons play sport. Her debut novel, Island Redemption won the Romance Writers of Australia award for best unpublished romance novel of 2016.

A brilliant sequel to “Into the Rain” - I could not put it down! I was hooked from the start. I loved seeing Nico and Lacey’s working relationship develop along with their personal - the ups, the downs and the every day. The story explores their personal relationship and the consequences of not being open and honest about your past, even though no malice was intended. Even though Lacey does not doubt her love for Nico, can she trust him? Will their relationship survive? Just another twist to add to the depth and intrigue of the story. You must also not forget the beautiful and loyal, Smudge 😊😊
Set in the beautiful landscape of South Burnie, Tasmania, it is the unlikely scene of not one murder but two. The big question is, are they linked? If so, how are they linked? Are there more possible victims? Once again it is page after page, chapter after chapter, and you just want to keep reading!! The story will have you in the edge of your seat with anticipation!
The second book in “The Dark Tides” series is just as good, if not better than the first. Suzanne has written another outstanding and intriguing novel. Highly recommended🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I am really loving Suzanne Cass's "Dark Tides" series, this is the second book and ,although completely standalone, I would really urge reading the first book for more background into the lives of Lacey and Nico. Probationary Constable Lacey Carmichael was all loved up with Detective Sergeant Nico Favreau, it was the worst kept secret at the Tasmanian Police HQ, everyone knew and everyone approved. Lacey had faced a near death experience on her last case leaving her with PTSD, Nico was being overprotective much to Lacey's disgust. When two bodies were found, both young women, both with a similar MO, the tension was high, did they have another serial killer on the loose. When Lacey's partner, Linc, was traumatically hospitalised, Nico decided that Lacey would partner him, it would be good experience and he could keep her close, this worked well until............Nico had a secret, a secret that he had shared with no one, a secret that was to shatter their idyllic lives. Nico knew that, because of her past, honesty was paramount to Lacey, would she ever trust him again ? would she ever forgive him ? In the meantime they had a murderer to catch, there had to be a link between the two women but it was proving to be illusive. As the clues started to unfold the suspects began to crawl from the woodwork and the tension mounted. The chase took Lacey and Nico up high on a rocky trail, after nearly loosing her life going over a cliff would this trigger Lacey's PTSD, how would she cope ? would Nico be distracted ? could he protect her ? This is a beautiful action packed love story with angst, the love between Lacey and Nico is palpable and as they solve this mystery another one begins and I can't wait to read about it. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Here is another fascinating book set in Tasmania brought to us by Suzanne Cass. She makes the setting sound so fascinating. Its very stark, steep, and dangerous in some of the wilder forested areas but the heroine, Lacey, must force herself to tramp through these rough areas as she tries to solve a double and possibly triple murder. Her boyfriend who is a Detective at the same police station workers with her to solve the mystery. People working with her are hospitalized with brain trauma and concussion, a gunshot wound and she is threatened with death as they close in on the murderer. To make all the anxiety and drama of the crime more palatable, Lacey and her lover are allowed some time together, to fall deeper in love, and to deal with lots of family problems. They're both intellectually gifted, good looking, and sweet characters for the reader to fall in love with. I received an ARC of this book.
Lacey is back at work as a constable, she's been put on probation so she can be monitored, after the previous events. (Into the Rain!) She and Nico are settled in his cottage. He's overprotective, and they've had a talk about it. Then a murdered girl is found, is she connected to the serial killer? It's a completely different type of victim. Now he knows his father is still alive Nico is using all his resources to find him. Then Lacey finds out that Nico hasn't been completely honest with her. Can she get over it? What can Nico do to redeem himself?
I loved this romantic suspense story about Lacey and Nico on the Tasmania Police force. Their relationship is getting stronger until a secret from Nico's past is revealed to Lacey. On their job, two murders are uncovered plus a suicide and all may be linked. This book pulls you in from the beginning and the action is intense up until the end when the murderer is revealed but not before Nico gets shot. Does he survive? The characters are wonderful. I highly recommend this romantic suspense that you will have to read to find out who the killer is and if Nico and Lacey stay together. I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Lacey and Nico are again embroiled in an investigation of murder. While Lacey was brought back onto the force, she was put under a six month probationary period. This still allowed them to continue their relationship as well as work together. As they uncover new clues and evidence the suspense level increases because of the haste to find and stop the killer. Suzanne Cas has given me a book that encompasses the romance, crime and thrill of playing detective. A romance without the eroticism, but still with passion. I received a copy and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Nico and Lacey's love story continues in book 2, really enjoyed the mystery and romance this story brought. Several young ladies have been found in a reserve and it's up to Nico and his team to figure out what is going on. He's also hiding a secret and Lacey is hurt and confused as to what is going on. What a wild ride this was page turner could not put down can't wait for the next book in the series
Rain Washed is book two in the Dark Tide series by Suzanne Cass. After a traumatic event, Lacey feels she has found peace again and a beautiful man to love Nico. Also, Lacey has returned to a profession she loves in the Tasmania Police Force. However, on patrol with her partner, Lacey came across two bodies of young girls. Nico and Lacey had to work out where these two incidents connected. The readers of Rain Washed will continue to follow Lacey to discover what happens.
Rain Washed is another fantastic book in this excellent series by Suzanne Cass. I loved reading about the beautiful Tasmania countryside. I enjoy engaging with Suzanne Cass's books, and Rain Washed continues the tradition. I could not put this book down and think about housework or sleep. I love Suzanne Cass's portrayal of her characters and the way they interact with each other throughout this book. Rain Washed was well-written and researched by Suzanne Cass. I like Suzanne Cass's description of the settings of Rain Washed, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
The readers of Rain Washed will understand the consequences of bullying for children and their families. Also, the readers of Rain Washed will learn about the problems of people who suffered head injuries.
Thank you to the author for my AR copy for an honest review. I recommend this book.
A fabulous mystery that deserves 5 plus stars. This is the second book I've read in the series and I am absolutely in love with the characters and the plots. I could not put the book down.. I highly recommend this book and this author.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am providing my honest opinion.
Once again Lacey and Nico need to work together to solve a mystery of how 2 girls were found in the same area of the creek, dead. They need to look at every angle to solve how it happened. But they also know they need to rely on each other in more than one way.
Rain Washed is book two in the Dark Tides series and is completely stand-alone. With so many serious crimes committed in the Tasmanian town of Burnie, tourists will have second thoughts about visiting. Thank goodness this is fiction.
Lacey is happily settled with her detective boyfriend Nico, but still has nightmares after a near death experience six months ago (book one, Into the Rain). She's now a probationary constable, working under Nico's supervision in the local Tasmanian police department.
After the bodies of two young women are found, Nico is working long hours heading the murder investigation. When Lacey observes a prowler outside their home, Nico's first instinct is to protect her, but after years of a dominating mother, Lacey feels he's over controlling.
Sorting out their lives together and searching for the murderer leads them on a chase into the mountains of the National Park. Are they chasing the murderer, or is the murderer waiting for them.
Police procedure, romance and tension make a great read in this latest in the action-packed series from Suzanne Cass.
