Nauti #6

Nauti Temptress

Rate this book
The first in an all new spinoff series of the New York Times bestselling Nauti Boys series, now featuring the Nauti Girls.

The Mackay cousins—Natches, Rowdy, and Dawg—would do anything for family, so when former DHS agent Timothy Cranston drops off four sisters that Dawg never knew he had, there is no question: The cousins will protect and care for the girls, and their mother, because they’re family.

Five years later, Eve Mackay, the eldest sister, has graduated from college and settled in to life as a Mackay in Pulaski County, Kentucky. She works hard as a cocktail waitress and helps out at the bed-and-breakfast that Dawg bought for her mother. If she keeps herself busy enough, maybe she’ll be able to stay away from the man she promised Dawg she wouldn’t date, the man who has awakened her most ravenous fantasies…

He’s Brogan Campbell, a biker rumored to be a traitor and a thief. But he’s just playing a part; he came to Kentucky for a DHS mission that no one, except Cranston, is supposed to know about. Eve is the key to the whole operation, and his orders are to get her participation. But his need for Eve has nothing to do with stolen secrets and the safety of the country…

When Dawg took in Eve and her sisters, he warned them that if they ever lied, cheated, or betrayed the family, they risked losing everything. But desire and danger are locked in an inescapable embrace, and Eve has to make her choice between family or Brogan, for better or worse…

I will start by saying that the blurbs on the author's site, publisher's site, Amazon, and Goodreads are wrong. The setting and hero's name is right, everything else including the heroine's name, background, and plot are incorrect.

Here's the real story.

Dawg Mackay has four teenage half-sisters he never knew about. Timothy Cranston shows up to break the news, with the sisters and their mother in tow. Family is everything to the Mackays and Dawg steps up to take care of them. This is in the prologue. The story takes place five years later.

Eve Mackay is the oldest sister. She's had the hots for Brogan Campbell, one of the men who lives at the family's bed and breakfast, ever since he came to town two and a half years ago. The attraction is mutual. Brogan was sent to work undercover in Somerset with the main objective to get close to Eve for reasons unknown. He waited because he didn't want to drag her into the middle of an operation but now he's tired of waiting. Dawg has heard the rumors that Brogan is a traitor and forces Eve to promise she'll stay away from him. This is a promise Eve can't keep.

I would like to tell you more about the plot but I can't. Not because it's spoilers. I just didn't understand it. It's the most convoluted book I've ever read. I couldn't follow it with a map and a flashlight. After reading the entire book, I still don't know why Eve was involved. Or who the mystery man is that was mentioned constantly during the first half of the book. Or what Dawg knew and when he knew it. It was all, well, dumb. At one point Brogan thinks:
What the fuck was going on in this place, and just how screwed up were the criminals operating here?

I don't know, Brogan. I'm wondering the same thing.

More than having a wacky plot that confused me, this book made me angry. The blatant disrespect for women by the men in this book was rage inducing. In the prologue, Natches calls his terrified teenage cousins that he just met bitches. Later, Eve is explaining to Brogan that she's not sleeping with him until he sees her as his equal. He tells her when "you've grown a ten inch dick at some point" he'll consider her his equal. It looks like in the new Mackay world you are only worthy of respect if you have a penis.

Brogan was once engaged. The condom broke, the fiancee became pregnant then aborted his child without talking to him. He dumped her. Fast forward to the first time Brogan and Eve have sex. The condom breaks and he doesn't tell her. The next afternoon, he has sex with her again, this time without the condom. When she mentions it, he says it doesn't matter. Whatever happens was started the night before when the condom broke. When she asks why he didn't tell her, he said he wanted to wait until it was too late for her to take the morning after pill because he doesn't believe in abortion. She is hurt and feels betrayed.
She couldn't believe he would even suspect she would do something so horrible. That she would abort her baby, just get rid of it as though it were trash.

Where do I even start with that? Maybe with the fact that the morning after pill isn't abortion? It only prevents conception, the same as regular birth control does. Or maybe what a jerk Brogan is for not giving Eve the courtesy of knowing the condom broke. He didn't even assure her he was disease free. And he never once offers an apology at any point in the book. I expected many things from this book but a morality lesson from the author wasn't one of them.

A few of the interactions between Natches and Rowdy were amusing. Other than that, I found nothing redeemable about this book.

Dawg has four half-sisters that come to him via Timothy Cranston, the man he and his cousins love to hate, five years ago. His gem of a father put the girls’ mother through hell, leaving them to fend for themselves and after his death, no money was left for them to survive on. They’re moments from being forced to live on the street with Timothy steps in and after verifying the family connection, he takes them to Dawg knowing he’ll never turn his back on family. He doesn’t and he not only takes them in, but helps them get back on their feet and makes their mother’s dream of opening a bed and breakfast a reality.

Eve has been in a room next door to Brogan for two years at the B&B as he’s working undercover. Eve maybe suspects something’s up but doesn’t know for sure. The sexual tension between them has only grown over the years, but Dawg warns her to stay away from Brogan. She feels like she owes Dawg her loyalty and doesn’t want to betray him by acting on her lust that’s leading her to straight to Brogan. She’s a virgin and she knows that she wants her first time to be with Brogan. He decides that staying away from her for the sake of his case just isn’t worth it anymore and they finally gives in to the temptation.

Ok, here we go.

The plot is so confusing. Brogan is working undercover and stealing documents for some purpose. He’s also supposed to get close to Eve because someone in town will come forward with information if they know her life is in jeopardy and being with Brogan would equal danger. Dawg, Rowdy and Natches aren’t supposed to be involved, yet they are and know a lot more about what exactly is going on (at least someone knows what’s happening).

The romance, as far as sexy, dirty scenes go, you know what you’re getting with a Lora Leigh book. What I couldn’t stand was the hero. Dominant alpha male heroes are hot. What’s not hot is a dominant hero that’s an ass. I couldn’t find one thing about Brogan that made me like him, even a little bit. He’s rude, he talks down to the heroine, he does what he wants, how he wants and if he doesn’t think Eve should know something, he doesn’t say anything. Hard to like a guy like that, especially one that thinks like this:

“If you can’t respect me, Brogan, and see me as your equal, then I’ll be damned if you’re even in the running for my virginity.”

(…)

“My equal?” he asked. “Sweet pea, when you can work a ten-hour day in the freezing rain, take down four drug-crazed dealers intent on having your head, keep up with my daily workout, and show me you’ve grown a ten-inch dick at some point, then I will most gladly drop all my dominant, manipulating schemes to rid you of your virginity and will then consider you my equal.”

At this point I would have loved to have seen Eve kick him in the crotch and leave. But this wasn’t the only moment that had me annoyed. Brogan goes on to keep to himself the fact that the condom broke after their first time because he doesn’t want her taking a morning after pill, or we find out that he lifted her apartment key and made his own copy, without her knowing. What a great guy.

Despite my issues with Brogan, I did like the set up for this book and new series. I liked having four Nauti girls introduced and put under Dawg’s overprotective eye. As far as Eve goes, she’s a likable enough heroine. I never felt like she stood up to Brogan enough, she’d cry her eyes out because he left her and she was determined to cry no more, when surprise, he shows back up that night, wants sex, gets it, and she’s declaring her love for him. Eve needed to be a really strong, self-confident heroine to even come close to standing up to Brogan and she just doesn’t get there.

The suspense plot that involves Brogan, his partners, Dawg and his cousins, Eve as well as random other undercover agents to happen to just pop up all over the story was hard to follow and threads throughout the book were introduced but never followed through on. I still can’t quite figure out why Eve was in the middle of all of this, other than to be the obvious female that was captured and needed rescuing at the end. Even with a plot I couldn’t follow, Brogan had me shaking my head the most. I found him to be very unlikable and I ended up not caring one bit about him or his romance with Eve.

I’m a big fan of the early Nauti books, but this one didn’t do it for me. Even though I couldn’t stand the hero, I find that I’m still interested in the women that were introduced and I’ll probably pick up the next book to see how it goes. But for Nauti Temptress, I was underwhelmed, frustrated with both the story and the hero and it’s not a book I would recommend.

Timothy Cranston, five years ago, shows up with 4 sisters and their mother to the Mackay cousins. Dawg never knew his father had another family. He would of never thought that his ½ sister’s mother is even younger than Dawg.

Now five years in the future, Eve Mackay, has graduated from college and is starting her adult life in Kentucky living her families bed and breakfast. Eve thinks that if she keeps herself occupies her nights working at Walker’s Run, waiting tables, she will forget about the man that resides in her fantasies, Brogan Campbell. Brogan also lives and the Mackay’s bed and breakfast.

Brogan Campbell is an ex-military, biker and rumored traitor. Brogan is actually an agent on a secret mission for the Department of Homeland Security and somehow Eve Mackay is the key. He is immensely drawn to Eve but doesn’t want to put her in danger by involving her in his mission. But there is a new operation manager at the DHS and his scheming can even put Timothy's to shame.

The chemistry is electrifying and trying to keep apart is futile. As with all Lora Leigh’s books, the intimate interaction is smoldering. The mystery and action was intense – nail biting worthy. There was a perfect blending with previous Nauti characters. Now we have the addition of all these Mackay woman to start this brand new Nauti Girl storyline. Nauti Temptress is great read, 4 stars.

I was one of those fans who LOVED the Nauti Boys series! I ate it up! All of the dominant and protective males in backwoods Kentucky.... YUMMY! However, I would have to call Lora Leigh's attempt to add on to that by creating the Nauti Girls series with yet another government conspiracy is a serious flop!!!

First of all, it is blatantly obvious in the beginning by dumping 4 new sisters onto Dawg that this is a pathetic way of insuring a full series... lovely. Nothing more exciting than a lazy series lead in...

Ok, I need to address our "hero" Brogan... first of all, I have NEVER once in my life seen a hot and studly red head with freckles.... Ok and add on this supposed "badd-ass" nature... Yeah, I'm not buying it. The image in my head looks ridiculous.

Yep... I think that is about as good as that is going to get, and I must say I find him quite resistible

Let's not forget that Brogan was a total ass!!!!!!! I love a dominating male. He was not dominating, he was forceful, inconsiderate and selfish. There was no respect or compassion for Eve until about the last page...

SHE WAS A VIRGIN! Instead of taking the time to pleasure her, the text described him pushing her head down onto "him". I don't care who you are, no woman likes that... It was always about his pleasure. The sex scenes were infuriating... I would have slapped him. He almost seemed like he had rights to her virginity. Eve was written to be a kind of pushover whenever someone manhandled her... Not in the good way.

Ok, the whole condom break... I was fuming! How dare he not tell her right away! He should have told her after it happened so she could take steps to protect herself! And then more frustrating than that, he took it upon himself to do her without one all together because he did it the night before... without her knowledge by the way. What, is she broken now and her thoughts on the matter don't apply? Jackass...

I also need to clear the air of another stupidity... Eve and Brogan had an argument about the idea of using the Plan B pill. They related it to an abominable act, one of ultimate cruelty. Yaddy yadda. Well, after 4 pages of that crap I can definitely tell where Lora Leigh stands on the topic. But Ms. Leigh, before you stand up on your soapbox with your thoughts, perhaps you should know some things before you write about them... Despite what both your characters thought, THE MORNING AFTER PILL IS NOT THE ABORTION PILL!!

The Plan B, as it is called, is a hormone that attempts to prevent a woman's body from becoming pregnant after unprotected sex by making it more difficult for conception to happen. If the egg is already fertilized, it will not harm the baby...

Yeah, that's the kind of crap I pushed through to finish the first, (and my last), installment of the Nauti Girls series.

FIrst of all - how did this get an average rating of 4* when every other review I see is a 2* or 1* ?!?!?!

What the hell did i just read?!?!

Convoluted and secretive plot is ok, but shouldn't the readers know what's going at some point? By the end?!
Here goes:
Brogan is thought to be a "traitor" (i got sooo sick of hearing this word!) but he is actually an undercover agent. Eve is in the center of some case but we never actually find out what the case is or why Eve of all people. Eve promised her cousin, DAWG, that she wouldn't date Brogan, because DAwg (ew!) refuses to allow her to date a "traitor"...he will disown her if she "betrays herself, her family or her country" (gag-puke-gag). There is some showdown with the bad guys at the end and NOTHING is explained to the readers! Totally useless...

Moving on.... What about these characters?!!
So many rednecks i cant even keep track of all the trashy cousins and their "virginal-bible-fearing" sisters! With names like Rowdy, Dawg, etc...!!! Their language, ideas, and attitudes were beyond appalling!

Brogan was the biggest asshole I've ever read about - no joke! She flirts with him for years and he ignores her, and then all of a sudden he can't control himself anymore. He kidnaps he out of nowhere, takes her to a secluded country house (fully stocked with cocaine?!?! what?!?!?) and tells her that he will take her virginity then and there! She tells him that she has wanted him all along but not in this way - not if he acts like a caveman, she wants to be treated like an equal! To that he tells her that she won't be his equal until she can work ten-hour shifts, bench press as much as him, and grow a 10-inch penis (in much cruder language, of course). Ummm - excuuuuse me???? What the f*ck????

Furthermore, when they have sex, his condom breaks and he knows it but chooses to keep going! Then, to make matters worse, he doesn't even tell her about it! ????????????????????????????????? Douche of the year award! The next afternoon he finally tells her, admitting that he waited until now because: "I wanted to make sure it was too late to use the morning after pill! I dont believe in abortion!" >> WHATTT?!? This guy is unbelievable!!! Sooo much wrong with this sentence!! First of all - morning after pill is NOT abortion, it's birth control, (educate yourself - either Brogan or Author!!) , secondly - he makes this decision for her?!?!?!

Brogan goes on disrespecting Eve and treating her like crap until the very end. We do find out that ten years ago he was engaged and, unknown to him, his fiancee aborted their baby. Eve comes crying back to him after hearing this sob story!? Ok - boo-hoo, this is supposed to explain why he mistreats Eve and why he chose to decide on the form of birth-control (NONE!) and secretly get her pregnant?!?!??!?! OH MY GOD!!!

(Regardless of my personal opinions on birth-control, abortion, plan B, etc - I DID NOT appreciate the author's preaching tone about sex/virginity, moral lectures about abortions, and misconceptions that plan B is a method of abortion. Because of her high-and-mighty attitude she completely put me off her books ! Oh yes, and because this book made no sense!)

HOURS OF LIFE I AM NEVER GETTING BACK!!!

Though I really liked Eve Mackay, Brogan Campbell was a real jerk. He just steamrolled over her regardless of what she wanted. He didn't rape her (she was too willing for that) but he surely didn't take no for an answer.

I liked the plot though it was really convoluted and confusing. Brogan is undercover. Somehow Dawg, Rowdy and Natches are involved though it's not explained until the very end. The powers that be want Eve involved though they won't say why. Hmm very secretive.

I liked Eve's sisters and look forward to their books.

Nothing, but nothing is less sexy than forcing a woman to bear your child. Condom breaks during your one night stand with a virgin? Kidnap her and lock her away until the morning after pill isn't a viable option, because teh wimmens are just too flighty to be given control their own reproductive systems.

Lorah Leigh ought to be ashamed of herself.

I have to agree with other readers who were let down by this book. I usually enjoy Lora Leigh's book but this one just pissed me off. For something that is the start of a series called the Nauti Girls, the women in this book, especially the lead, Eve, barely get a chance to register. I've enjoyed other books featuring dominant heroes but this just came off as extremely misogynistic. I'll read other Lora Leigh books but I'm done with her Nauti series.

The whole story came off as very convoluted. I'm still not sure what exactly was going on except for several scenes of Dawg threatening to kill Brogan or Brogan threatening to kill other people. Two thirds of the book were spent talking around exactly what was happening and the last third felt hastily put together. Suddenly there are half-sisters and fathers coming out nowhere. The bad guys are named at the last minute. It felt like this whole book was the second half of another story that hadn't been published.

To go back to my earlier issue with Eve, she was a non-factor. She existed to be a martyr and a thing to be manipulated by the men in her lives. She gets into a fight at work and she's positive she's going to be fired by family friends despite just defending herself (and once you learn who attacked her it doesn't even makes sense) that she just gives up on the job. She makes a promise to stay away from Brogan and spends most of the book moping over it even as she breaks the promise. And the promise is completely asinine to begin with! She lets a brother she only discovered a few years ago completely rule her life.

For a series that's supposed to feature her and her sisters, they really get the short straw throughout the book. Two show up in the beginning and then completely disappear. Eve could have been anyone in this book. For all the talk of her being tough and independent none of it really shows. The one time she fights back for herself she's immediately feels shame about. She works ten different little part-time jobs for her family but the second she gets a solid full time job offer (that came out of nowhere, the same way her college eduction did) she tosses it away for Brogan.

The anti-pro-choice angle was so in your face and off-putting that several times I actually recoiled from the book reading it. Sex without condoms in fiction doesn't bother me as long as both characters are aware of it and ok with it. But for Brogan to decide that since the condom broke the first time and she could be pregnant anyway, what the hell, I'm not going to use a condom the second time at all? And not tell Eve about until afterwards? Because he was afraid she'd abort the baby? So he took away her choice to decide when she was ready for a baby or if she wanted to take a chance at getting pregnant. And he's better than her father how?

BTW did anyone else notice that before she slept with Brogan she wore jeans and camisoles but as soon as she lost her virginity it was all long flowing tops and easy going skirts and leather sandals. Like what is this?

In the end, I couldn't like Brogan and I couldn't respect Eve. The story was a whole lot of double talk that really went nowhere until the last two chapters and I'm still not even sure what was going on. All I got out of it is good girls want to have babies and are just waiting for a guy to make that choice for them.

Returning to the world of alpha overprotective former military men and their women, Nauti Temptress is a great read. This is a 3.5 star for me. I enjoyed every little twist and turn in this book.

There were a few sad times as Eve, the oldest of Dawg's half sisters finally finds her mate. At 24 and a virgin, she's been waiting a long time. Unfortunately her man who is also alpha male is in deep with law enforcement and those who are traitors. How does it all work out? Kind of messed up.

The plot lines are now pretty predictable. Ms. Leigh uses a formula which works for her. Girl loves boy. Boy loves girl and must protect her. Traitors to the USA get involved, threaten the girl. Boy saves the day. I don't read these stories for the plot. Nor do I read the stories for sex. I read the stories specifically because of the characters and family bonding. Ms. Leigh creates some of the better family loyalty and dynamics which always pulls me in. She's like Nora Roberts to me, but better with the erotica. This story is recommended for romance lovers who love their alpha males.

I really wanted to like this...but I just couldn't finish it.

Seriously.

It was giving me a headache. I had the same kinda problem with the rest of the Nauti series, something about it didn't seem to 'flow' as other suspense romance novels I've read which really frustrated me.

I should probably mention I read most of them while being stuck at home sick, so maybe I should add a star or something for that, but I give myself better credit for that. A good read shouldn't involve so much thinking of "wait, why is the author contradicting herself?"

Just one example that comes to mind, when the heroine goes into the hero's room to tidy up (she works at a B&B) and she acted all surprised about the state of the room. Um...he's been living with y'all for almost three years. I'm sure she would have gone into his room sometime during those years so why was it such a big surprise?

Things like that. My sick self shouldn't hafta go "okay...why?" Lord knows what my 'well' self would be saying.

Meh. Read it if you wish, but there are better suspense romances out there.

This book was a huge disappointment. It felt like more like a political platform for Ms.Leigh's position on pro choice. While I stand behind anyone's right to air their viewpoint, on anything, I do not want to read a political rant while reading erotica. So to you Ms. Leigh, what the hell are you about?

A good enough book but nothing to write home about. It was definitely better than the first couple of books in the series. Although, at times the scenes felt silly and overly dramatic. I almost felt like I was watching a bad B movie.

First in the Nauti Girls erotic romance series; it's an offshoot from Leigh's Nauti Boys series and based in Somerset, Kentucky. The couple focus is on Eve Mackay and Brogan Campbell.

My Take
I've been so looking forward to reading this story, assuming it would be as nauti and suspenseful to read as her Nauti Boys series.

The characters are wonderful, as always, and I love the whole B&B scenario. But the story itself is so contrived and the reasons Leigh provides as to why Homeland Security wants Eve brought in and made his lover is incredibly muddled. I get the feeling that Leigh reckons we'll just buy her books no matter what effort she puts into it.

Considering later revelations, I don't get why Donny and Sandi are so up in Evie's face.

This is a half-hearted effort, it's eroticism is, um, damp, and I am so disappointed. It is not going on my buy list.

The Story
Seems Dawg's dad had four half-sisters with their mother, who is years younger than Dawg! Homeland Security found the last of Chandler McKay's accounts, shut them down, and cut the girls off from funds. Crawford has taken them in and brought them to Dawg, trusting he'll do right by them.

It's five years later in this story, and Eve has been falling for Brogan Campbell for the past two-and-a-half years. Only, Dawg has forced a promise from her to not get involved with him.

Brogan, on the other hand, is under orders to draw the Mackays in, using Eve to flush out members of the Freedom League.

The Characters
Eve Mackay is the oldest of Chandler McKay's four bastard daughters at 19 (in the prologue). She rotates working at the various Mackay businesses in Somerset, although all the girls work at Mercedes' bed-and-breakfast. Piper is 18; Lyrica is 17 and has a major crush on Graham Brock; and, Zoey just turned 16 and loves painting.Their mother Mercedes, who is almost seven years younger than Dawg(!), has struggled to care for them.

Dawg Mackay is one of three cousins from the Nauti Boys series; he's married to Christa and they have a daughter ( Nauti Nights ). The girls are his half-sisters, and he's taken them in. They're family after all. Rowdy and Natches Mackay both play a part as well. Rowdy is married to Kelly ( Nauti Boy ) and they have a daughter. Natches is married to Chaya ( Nauti Dreams ) and they have a little girl, Bliss, who has excellent hearing to Natches' dismay.

Brogan Campbell is undercover for Homeland Security (HS) and all anyone knows in town is that he's a very bad boy with a Harley and the leader of the Cumberland Touring and Motorcycle Club. He's also the bastard son of the director of HS, JD Bryce. Brody Campbell is his brother and one of his partners along with Jed and Eli. Chatham Bromleah Doogan III is his boss, director of operations, and a major player, pulling all sorts of strings, using anyone.

Timothy Cranston is the "fat, evil, little leprechaun" who is supposedly former Homeland Security. He's fallen in love with Mercedes and lives at the B&B.

Members of the Cumberland Touring and Motorcycle Club include:
Donny "Bowie" Sutherby and Sandi Mikels are a nasty couple determined to harass Eve.Grady "Poppa Bear" Aarons and his wife Mary, a.k.a., "Momma Bear", are retired. Shanna "Baby Bear" Aarons is their daughter. Then there's Hondo Grael, Pooh Yonkers and his sister Marbles, and another sister and brother, Boo and Homer Kennedy.

John and Sierra Walker own Walker's Run, the bar Rogue gave them and where Eve sometimes works. Dakota "Kota" Wayne and Matteo are two of the bartenders. Rogue Mayes (she's married to Sheriff Zeke Mayes, Nauti Deceptions , and they have newborn Zeke, Jr.) is full-time managing Janey Mackay Jansen's restaurant, Mackay's Fine Dining. Alex Jansen is still Somerset's chief of police ( Nauti Intentions ); they have a six-year-old daughter, Erin. Faisal Mackay is now Declan, and he's the floor manager at Janey's. Ray and Maria Mackay, Rowdy's parents, get a mention along with the traditions they started up for their new family without the jerk Mackays. Even the Augusts from Madison, Texas (the Men of August series) are showing up for these reunions.

Samantha Bryce is a detective and Brogan's little sister. For an unwanted bastard, he's got siblings everywhere. Kraig is her partner.

Kai Maynard is Judge Kiser's foreman.

The Cover
I'm going to assume that the stretch of dark brown is Lake Cumberland, as the surrounding grasslands don't make sense otherwise. There is a lovely sunset to make up for it. It's a shirtless Brogan who appears more anxious than the black-clad Eve for this particular embrace.

The title is a misnomer. I didn't get a real sense of Eve being a Nauti Temptress. Maybe because I was so disappointed.

I just cant with the names, and after reading some reviews, seems like the names are the least of my concerns.

Still, in my country people name their kids weird sht, but naming someone "Dawg"? Like 90 jargon for dog/pal/friend/comrade. Natches makes me think of nachas= butt cheeks in spanish.

Also preachy & wrong about 1) the morning after pill 2) abortion? Extra layer of yikes. Plus all the misoginy? Not my cup of tea.

First in a new series by Lora Leigh involving in some ways my favorite Nauti boys? I'm in! The Nauti series was one of the first romantic suspense stories I ever read so it really holds a special place in my heart. They are all alpha males with lots of attitude, dominance, confidence and guns on occasion. I was very excited about this series because I thought we would be reading about their daughters. Which is not the case. Don't ask me why I thought that, maybe I read it somewhere.

The good thing about not reading about the daughter of my favorite Nauti boys is that they are still young, still around and still kicking ass. My favorite part of this book was the fact that they are all present in this story, especially Dawg. See, it turns out that Dawg's father had a whole other family going and now Dawg is responsible for his half sisters and their mother.

Eve being the oldest works as a bartender and also helps their mother run the B&B that Dawg got for her. And in both places all she sees is Brogan Campbell. He's a bad boy, has been around for some time but rumor has it he's a thief and a traitor. Dawg doesn't want his sister anywhere near him but Brogan has other plans. He needs Eve so that he can get the help of the Mackay boys to solve the case he's been working on.

Overall not bad as far as a storyline goes, there was some action and some mystery. But there were a lot of loopholes for me. For example, at the beginning Eve seems like she doesn't know anything about Brogan they've barely talked before etc. Towards the end of the book and without that much time passing, she knows everything about him from their prior interactions. So either I'm missing something or this connection they had happened while I wasn't looking.

But one thing is for sure... Lora Leigh knows how to turn up the heat. Even if the story and characters are not 100% what I wanted, I have no complaints in that department. Brogan is almost primal, a great dirty talker and knows exactly what to do for Eve. I just wish for once the heroine wouldn't have been a virgin. Maybe it'll happen one day.

The day Dawg Mackay’s four young sisters and their young mother whom he’d never heard suddenly are brought to him for help, he and his cousins, Natches and Rowdy, could not resist. They always took care of their family.

When his eldest sister, Eve, now twenty-four falls for Brogan Campbell, Dawg makes her promise not to get involved with him, because he was a traitor and a thief. Eve knew this wasn’t true and so does Dawg, but he doesn’t want Brogan to hurt her.

Of course, she breaks her promise and falls deeply in love with Brogan, who is actually an agent with the DHS in town searching for documents that would lead them to not only the gold that Dawg’s father had stolen from Fort Knox, but also the three other agents that had helped him. Brogan knew where the gold was hidden, but was also there to locate the Homeland Militias hiding in the Kentucky mountains for whom the gold was stolen to help them mount a homegrown terrorist war on the United States.

Brogan’s younger sister Samantha was severely injured by one of the agents working with Dawg’s father and he had kidnapped Eve in order to get the gold for the Militias.

Would Brogan and the cousins get to the boat where they are holding her, to save her and get to the former agents before they could do more harm in the town they loved and to the families they loved even more?

Lori Leigh has written a great erotic book in ‘Nauti Temptress’. It is a good read and very difficult to put down. All of her characters both Primary and Secondary contribute brilliantly to keep the story moving along and keeping it very suspenseful. It’s very hard to know who the bad guys really are. She did a great job.

This book captivates its reader, is an easy read, and one that the reader will not want to put down until finished. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys an erotic read with a, will she or won’t he realize what is right in front of them, and Brogan and Eve are madly in love and belong together.

There's nothing more fun than observing the Mackays torturing another possible family member, especially when he's dating one of their own. Poor Brogan. The man is so tough and scrumptious and yet, he didn't see the trouble coming when he set his sights on Eve. Not only does he have to deal with her ability to take him to his knees, he has to put up with her relatives trying to keep him away from her.

Lora Leigh pens erotic romance at its addictive best, building the love and affection right along with the sensuality page-by-page until a whole chapter is smoking, blazing into a firestorm in the next chapter. For me, that's what sets Ms. Leigh's style apart - that slow build of emotion mixed with sensuality that takes the intimacy beyond expectations.

I laughed, I cried, I sped through the pages to see what happens next. Whew! So hot and yet, there's an interesting plot to keep it all just a bit edgier. The characters really added to the story, such a wide cast of them, even though the focus evolved around Brogan and Eve.

I can't wait to find out who's next in this new NAUTI GIRLS series. These girls may turn out to be just as Nauti as the boys, or drive them crazy trying!

Nauti Temptress just outright confused me. I swear I'm not always this dense but I don't know what the plot or conflict was besides from Brogan and Eve having sex and being uber angsty. It wasn't bad sex or anything but nothing else made sense to me and the book seemed to really fly by. Then Dawg (his name makes me scrunch up my face every single time) made me more confused. So he knew about Brogan but then he..... And why did he ask her to do that???? And why... I don't know but I'm just one big blob of "huh?". I don't know why I do this to myself but I will be reading the next in the series. There's something about Lora Leigh books that are weirdly addicting and I am interested in the other sisters. I felt that Eve was disconnected from everything except her internal dialogue so I hope the next heroine has some more flare and substance to her.

I can't be the only one who's like, 'Oh, half-sisters, how convenient.' There's nothing really new here, just erotica built around a flimsy plot framework. You could pretty much make a Lora Leigh checklist and tick off boxes as you read.

Hero in the military or government agency? Check.
Hero has either similarly aged male blood relatives or coworkers? Check.
Said hero is dominating in and out of bed? Check.
Heroine and hero fall for each other at first glance? Check.
They're constantly aroused for each other? Check.
Heroine becomes surrounded by mortal peril? Check.
Hero introduces the heroine to anal sex? Check.

I think you get the point.

It's not that Leigh is a bad writer or that I regret reading Nauti Temptress. It entertained me for a brief time. I just wish Leigh would try something new.

I would like to rate this awful but I won't. I just found nothing about this couple compelling and I was immediately turned off even by the original Nauti boys' behavior. Dawg finds out that he has long lost sisters and immediately the girls are defensive and these grown men call them "bitches"? REALLY? After that apparently Eve thinks she deserves to be treated poorly and when Brogan treats her that way most of the time she just melts into a sexual puddle. Again, REALLY? When my man gets pushy or pisses me off the LAST thing I want is to give him sex. COME ON. There are so many episodes of Brogan doing horrible things that I can't begin to imagine in what world this would actually be OK. The one time that Eve stood up for herself against ALL the men manipulating her was the highlight of the book. Beyond that it was just not worth the time I put into it.

Didn't finish. Couldn't finish.

Side annoyance: Eve is in her 20s. She works at a bar. She's seen and lived some life. Why is it presumed she's a virgin just because she doesn't have serious dating experience? She's just so puritanical that she can't get laid in a coat closet at the bar or screw in the backseat of a car like most teenagers?

I made it 15 chapters because I generally don't give bad reviews to books unless I really try to finish them. I could not. I hate Brogan with a fiery rage. He is not a protagonist, he is just controlling and manipulative, and in what universe is this relationship remotely healthy? Yeah, I know, it's fantasy not reality, but come on. The story is confusing, but the point of the book is the explicit sex so... On the plus side, when people tell me they loved 50 Shades and want something a little less demure, this can be my go-to. Also, the "morning after pill" is misrepresented as abortion, and the details surrounding emergency contraception are incorrect. Also, I hate Brogan.

DNF. False advertising. Borrowed audiobook from library based on blurb on OverDrive. As I was listening, I was wondering who this Eve MacSomething person was and where the hell is Abigail Foxe the FBI communications expert I was promised. I was very confused until I ran a Google search and found out that other than the name of the male protag, everything else (including the plot) is just wrong.

A very bizarre and careless mistake on the publisher's part.

What a FANTASTIC book!
When I saw the title I was expecting something else about the "girls" in this book, NEVER crossed my mind the plot twist that was going to be involved but I just LOVED!

I seriously recommend this author, she's quickly becoming one of my fave right there on my TOP 5

OMG! It's not very good. I usually like her stuff but this one is all choppy like big chunks are missing. I've actually looked at page numbers cuz I would have sworn a freaking page was missing. AND it's exactly like the others! Like same exact story only with different names! Lame!
