Another age gap lovefest! This author is amazing at writing detailed books in a short amount of pages. Loved this quick read. I liked the first book Griffin a little better but this book delivered. Shelby is Kevin's daughters BFF. But Shelby has been listing after her best friends dad for years...and he finally gives in. He's been hesitant because of her age but he couldn't hold back any longer. Everyone should read!

After finishing what I now understand to be Daddy Griffin, I eagerly downloaded “Destined For Him.” Oh, it’s 1:00 AM. Pshhh, that’s ok! Who needs sleep when Kevin and Shelby’s story needs to be read?
In the previous book, readers were introduced to Ivy’s father, Kevin. Kevin was against Ivy and Griffin’s relationship mainly due to the age gap difference but eventually accepted it. Ivy’s best friend Shelby has always crushed on Kevin, but Kevin refuses to pursue anything because of the age difference. However, later readers find his reasons run deeper and are more complex.
Kevin struggles with his feelings for Shelby almost every step of the way despite how enticing Shelby is. I loved how she continued dating others and could hold her own with other men. The seething jealousy Keving would experience was great. And I also enjoyed “seeing” Daddy Griffin and Ivy in the story.

OMGGGGG THIS WAS SUCH A FANTASTIC READ! And you know what made this a thousand times better? The feelings, the raw emotions, the struggle, the inner battle and whatnot. Kevin, a hot father, falls for his daughter's best friend, who in return has extremely strong feelings for him. He wants her. He wants her passionately. Not only in his bed and between his legs, but in his life, alongside him, as his. But can he achieve that easily? No. What's stopping him? A million reasons, all that are seemingly pointing against him.
Kevin fights with all his might with not only the entire world, but also with his heart that flutters for her, yearns for her and fucking craves her. He moves through mountains and seas to protect what's his and lets his rage take over anyone that rakes his eyes down the body of his girls. The banter between them, the heat, the lust, the waging war of emotions within both Shelby and Kevin, is so goddamn strong that it automatically pulls the reader towards them.
The major thing, as mentioned earlier, which gave this book a 5 star read was the emotions. If you are a person who loves books with a lot of raw emotion? This one is for you. The author portrayed perfectly whatever Kevin was feeling, and the bloody rawness of it was what won my heart.
In a small town where everyone knows you and knows that you have a grown ass daughter.....it is not easy to control yourself when you fall in love with your daughter's best friend. And it seriously isn't easy to stop yourself from committing murders if someone even dares to touch her. Kevin drips from the energy touch-her-and-I-kill-you. I would definitely recommend this book if you love tabboo romance and strong alpha energy.

I loved every bit of the book, it's a smooth journey that takes you to different turns and keeps your emotions on alert all the time ❤️❤️ I finished it in one day couldn't put it down and I enjoyed every chapter 😍😍😍

I liked how Shelby knows what she wants and goes after it not waiting around for some kind of a miracle yet life is not that easy. She needs passion and love in her life.
Kevin is denying himself happiness thinking that way he is saving his wife memory which is not true obviously , he is so possisseve when it comes to her and he shows what true love can be ❤️❤️❤️
And the epilogue,oh my god what an ending loved it all , I didn't want this story to end 😍😍😍 I love the whole family and wanted more of them 🥰🥰🥰

This is a super quick read. I read it in a few hours. Destined for me was not as good as the first book (Griffin). But I did like that the themes were a tiny darker. I really wanted to see Kevin in my head as being this bronzed, gorgeous, muscular, hunk of man but for some reason I seen him as a man with a tan dad bod.
I would recommend this book to readers who like age gaps with daddy obsessions. HEA, possessive men, pregnancy trope, mentions of SA.

The Daughter's Best Friend trope.
There were elements of this book that I liked more than the previous one, Griffin (Dad's Best Friend trope). It would've been a higher rating, but it was so disjointed at times. I was very disappointed that after the hints of things going on behind the scenes in the previous book, that we instead have a time jump of several months and Shelby is dating another man while Kevin still hasn't acted on the tension.
The fact that the scene from the first book where Kevin practically loses his mind thinking Shelby slept with his best friend wasn't a bigger moment in this one had me disappointed. I thought the book would take place during that same timeline, since Shelby (in the previous book) told her best friend that she was tired of sleeping around with random guys. There's a mention of the Griffin scene in the beginning of this one, Kevin insults Shelby in a way that could've had her slapping him, but then it jumps to a later point in the timeline where she's flirting with him again, then she hooks up with another guy and we get another flash forward of months.
Her boyfriend is verbally abusive, but nothing really happens there. I would've appreciated the stalker storyline with him being more prevalent, instead of the weird kidnapping/sex trafficking(?) storyline we got. Why was the mother beaten up? What was the ultimate purpose behind the all-male party? Was it supposed to be an orgy? Were they going to kill the mother and keep Shelby hostage? Was she going to be sold for sex trafficking? Nothing was clear. And the fact that she called Kevin - hours away - and not Griffin, in the same city to help her, was also weird. Or - here's an idea - get away from the location and call 911.
That entire confusing plot dragged my rating down, because I actually liked the tension between Shelby and Kevin more than the previous couple. It would've played SO MUCH better if she gets her mom to the hospital and it was Griffin who called to tell Kevin what happened. It would've hit harder, with Kevin realizing she was in danger and he'd been shut out completely, even when she was hurt and in danger, but that's not what happened.
Once the story shifts to the big city, it falls apart (minus a wonderful scene in a coffee shop, where I thought it was building to some great payoff when Kevin finally opened his eyes). Instead, the resolution is super fast and left my head spinning with how quickly they got together after the trafficking(?)/hospital scenes, and then the story flashed forward and ended.
It was at its best when it was in the small town and forced interactions were taking place. Kevin took way too long to get his head out of his ass, since he literally had his daughter's blessing. He was hung up on his dead wife, who passed more than two decades earlier, letting an imagined ghostly voice rule his conscience and hurt the woman he wanted.
I was loving the tension building, but the weird and unresolved plots changed this from a potential 5-star to 3.
It was short, it was entertaining - for the most part - and the tension was more prevalent than the previous book. I really liked Shelby - the abrasive best friend who gets her own book can often fall flat, but I found her to be refreshing.

Age gap, best friend’s father. Shelby has always loved Kevin. This was an entertaining forbidden romance that depicted angst, well-balanced push and pull, hot jealousy, and electric attraction with fullness of a longer story. Kevin was the proper yet broody guy to Shelby’s confidence. Twenty years her senior, his conscience was plagued with feeling too old for her, while she just wanted him. She threw herself at him over the years of her friendship with his daughter, and just wanted him. No other measured up.
“It wasn’t sexual, Kevin. I thought you were the most beautiful man I’d ever seen, and I wanted to marry you.” -Shelby
With their attraction high, the storyline highlighted their magnetic pull against Kevin’s push and fear, and Shelby’s strength and perseverance blanketed in sadness in wanting just one man. Shelby’s was endearingly feisty to Kevin’s grumpy dominance.

So first things first, make sure you read Griffin before reading this book because you will meet the characters of this book in that book and get a background for them as well. During Griffin it's obvious that there is something going on between Ivy's dad Kevin and her best friend Shelby. Fast forward to this book and the questions hang in the air of when will it happen and what will Ivy think? I loved Shelby's persistent behavior in knowing what she wanted and never giving up. She knew Kevin felt the same but knew his internal battle he was going through of her being his daughter's best friend would keep him at arm's length if she didn't take matters into her own hands. If you are a slut for an age gap/taboo romance like me, you need to read both this book and Griffin! You will not be sorry.

Great follow up!
I loved Griffin and I loved this one as well. Kevin did upset me a bit more than Griffin, but I get he had baggage. I love Shelby, but that girl made some poor decisions over time. I am glad that it worked out and I did NOT like Shelby’s mom at all! She should have listened to Shelby when she raised concerns.
I think I preferred Griffin over Kevin in the books, but mostly because I adored Shelby and Levin was not so nice to her through much of it. He could have done with some groveling. I get the extenuating circumstances, though, so it worked.
I loved the spice level. There was much more spicy than sweet, but I was totally on board. I also loved revisiting Ivy and Griffin! It was a fitting ending, to what I look at as a duet.

We first met Shelby and Kevin in Griffin and I’m so glad that we got their story too! Shelby has always had a crush on Kevin and no matter how hard she tried he never gave her any attention. I love how Shelby never gave up on what she wanted. She’s always known that her feelings for Kevin were more than just a crush. It just shows that you should never give up on what you want because in the end it will be worth it. It took Kevin awhile but I’m glad that he finally gave into his feelings. There were many things that he had to work through personally and we were able to see him work through all of those from his point of view. I always love reading Linz books!

Shelby and Kevin's story
We get age gap and best friends dad tropes, some of my favorites!
There was angst, steam and lots of feelings involved.
I loved that Shelby was strong and confident. She wasn't afraid to express her desires for Kevin.
Kevin was perfect, but he just need a push or some convincing. I'm so glad we got his POV as well. It helped us to understand his reasons and hesitation.
Together the spice between them was hot!!
I loved their story and most importantly their ending!

This book captivated me from start to finish
The love between these two is something else.
Kevin tries so hard to push Shelby away even tho watching her be with someone else kills him inside . Watching how she’s treaded by other men makes him realise how deeply he feels for her.
The love becomes a rollercoaster of emotions and it’s only until something happens to Shelby does he realise he can no longer stay away from her.
Beautiful love story loved every bit of it ❤️

I loved this book so much! The tension, emotions, and angst made this such a good read!! I loved that both of them reciprocated each other’s feelings and how they showed each other they really wanted to be together. The heat and chemistry between the two really showed that they were meant to be!

I was so ready for Shelby and Kevin. I couldn’t wait to read their story. And my lord did Linz deliver not only was if filled with the longing I just knew it would be, it took me on a completely unexpected journey. Had me on the edge of my seat, heart racing and nail biting!

A fantastic follow up to Griffin, Destined For Him picks up the story of Shelby and Kevin.
The push pull between these characters is dynamic. Shelby can’t see past her own needs and wants, Kevin doesn’t know how to balance his morals and his desires.
The spice is… delicious. Well written, perfect heat level.

I absolutely love Ivy and Griffin but Shelby and Kevin are my absolute favorite!!
I was extremely excited for their story the most and it did not disappoint. I love me a good story with a possessive man, I won’t deny it. Kevin was everything and more — maybe even slightly childish in some moments but we all get stupid when it comes to love.
This will definitely be on my list re-reads. (:

While I was reading Griffin’s story, I kept saying I couldn’t wait to read Kevin’s story. I was planning to give it a 5 star review but just like the first book, it was lacking. The stepdad situation was rushed. Didn’t understand the dynamics between Shelby and her mother. It was annoying that it took 85% for Kev to give in. The fact Kev’s family and Shelby didn’t know he was arrested was weird. The spice is better in Griffin’s book. Still a good fast read.

I absolutely loved this story!! I could not put it down, the dynamic between Kevin an Shelby was so captivating an heartfelt/warming. I also loved the sneek peek in to Ivy an Griff's life!!! The only problem I had with this book is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!! #LINZVONCFANFORLIFE!! #WILLOWNALLOFYOURBOOKS

Omg love...I've never been an age gap read but Linzvonc know how to write it well!! I loved Kevin and Shelly's story and how they finally got to be together. It was a hard road to get there. Kinda wish we could have seen Kevin and Griffin get to Tommy tho. And Shelby's mom is just awfully Naive or just desperate. Such a good book. Make sure to check tw's

Oh boy! What a steamy read this was! Shelby and Kevin had this attraction to one another. Kevin tried to resist for so long, but he was only fighting the inevitable. The spice was steamy! I love an older man with possessive “daddy” vibes in and out of the bedroom.

This book was…amazing! This book followed Griffin and it is the story of Shelby and Kevin. Kevin is her dad’s best friend. So there is where the age gap comes into play. But, Shelby knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to let it be known. I loved watching their story unfold! This book had the perfect amount of spice!!

I read this book in one sitting. That always happens with one of Linzs books. Linzvonc always gives us these great stories with all the spice and a great story line. With plenty of ups and downs to keep us on our toes guessing. This book is no different. I couldn't put it down. The ending was great. Highly recommend you read Griffin and then this book.

After reading Griffin I came straight to this book and I loved it just as much. I rarely see main characters with the name Kevin and couldn't help but envision my husband Kevin every time I read his name lmao!

I do love a good age gap taboo read and after reading griffin I couldn’t wait to read this one

This is a hot, quick read! The banter between Kevin and Shelby is so good. It's an age-gap, falls for daughters best friend story. You should really read Griffin before diving into this one. I definitely recommend this book!

Shelby and Kevin have an age gap, best friend’s father romance. It is angsty with so much raw emotion. They has such a push/pull dynamic with a lot of tension. I really enjoyed this forbidden romance.
