My life is normal and boring. Until he shows up at my door. Kaden Haoa. Filthy rich owner of a luxury resort in Hawaii. Stunning bachelor. Famous for his unsavoury and deviant tastes. And my best friend since our childhood days. Ah, yes. And the man with whom I've made a pact to marry if we're both single by our thirtieth birthdays. I have absolutely no idea why he thinks cashing in our bargain two years early is what I want - especially as I'm a far cry from what he's dated in the past.
But he is very clear about what he desires. And that's me. It's submission from the inexperienced girl, not used to being praised with words like ' good girl '. It's to get on my knees in front of a man who can turn my body against me with just a few words. He's aware that my resistance to his way of life is wearing thin. I'm starting to long for something only he can give me - and I'm falling apart ... for him and his corrupting touch.
But according to our latest agreement, I'm only to be his submissive for as long as it takes me to find him the perfect wife. And that's exactly what I will do.
3.75 ⭐ This was well uhm- 🔥🔥🌶️🌶️ I also love the childhood best friends to lovers trope. I liked the story, I liked their relationship, I liked their characters. There were definitely points in the story that didn't fit my tastes that well, but all in all, not a bad read. The last chapter before the epilogue made me realize I like it when the sub gets the power over the Dom for once- almost more than a naturally dominant woman. It was sweet to see them switch places and give that trust to the other.
Really poor writing and badly-developed romance. Premise was fine. I think the initial introduction of kink and BDSM was portrayed well, but personally I disliked the way different facets were written, especially when they’re used as the steps for the romance development because there’s absolutely no affection in any scene except in Kaden’s aftercare. I prefer my spice with more emotion, I think.
Was perfect friends to lovers, with added spice. I loved how confident Kaden was. The trust between Kaden and Nikau was strong and loved he nurtured her developing sub. The steam was off the charts and I devoured when ever I could.
I really liked the characters of Kaden and Nika. I thought the prologue which introduced their initial life-long friendship and “marriage pact,” was sweet and a great set up for the rest of the book.
**SPOILERS** **OPINIONS**
Once best friends, living in Hawaii, Kaden and Nikau (Nika) were best friends who made a pact that if Kaden hadn’t found his perfect woman by the time he was 30 yrs old, the two of them would marry. It seemed so “innocent” at the time, especially to Nika who had no ideas that Kaden had romantic feelings for her but was afraid of “love” having grown up in an abusive family.
Years, upon years go by and Kaden has made a huge name for himself. He’s a hot, billionaire with VERY kinky bedroom habits that goes through women like used tissues. One evening - while playing with one of his submissive s, he realizes he’s bored, and actually lonely. That not any of these women KNOW him. He sees a circled reminder about the marriage pact he made with his once best friend, and decides on a whim to go and see her in the states.
Nikau/Nika although absolutely floored to see Kaden after all these years, is overjoyed!! It’s like no time has passed, and even though she knows his awful “man-whore” reputation the paparazzi love to cover, and the string of beautiful women she always sees him with, she’s not looking at him (initially) in THAT way…just as a friend who is reconnecting with her long lost best friend! When Kaden brings up the silly marriage pact they made as kids, Nika thinks he’s nuts, lol. But she hates the Midwest, misses Hawaii and Kaden, and he makes her an “offer” she accepts: She has one year to find him the perfect submissive/wife, but if she fails she MUST marry him. And if he is to go on these arranged dates Nika makes for him, he wishes to be her Master for the duration of her stay, he wants to teach her all the finer points of submission. Nika agrees, thinking hey, nothing could go wrong. She gets to live at a beautiful resort next to Kaden and while she sets him up, he shows her and teaches her the “finer points of BDSM.”
The problem is that Nika didn’t count on falling in LOVE LOVE with Kaden…or ENJOYING his sexual lessons so very much! And Kaden hadn’t been prepared for what a perfect submissive Nika would be, or how her friendship would fill all the empty holes in him. When (on the advice of Kaden’s sister) Nika confesses her love, Kaden sends her away, tells her he never wants to hear those words again, and that they should maybe get “space” from one another. Nika is heartbroken. And Kaden goes to his sister to talk. After an evening if “soul searching,” and talking to his sister he realizes he’s ALWAYS loved Nika, he’s just been afraid to utter the words he felt had destroyed his parents marriage. Nika leaves. Kaden follows. They reunite and have make-up kinky sex. And then at the end Nika walks down the aisle to marry the man of her dreams…the man she has loved since childhood…
The book was actually well written. I liked Nika’s character - her resilience and her little plays at manipulation (but done with love in mind) and I loved how much she loved Kaden. I think where the book lost OOMPH with me was with Kaden, and his complicated history, and even complex current life. Don’t get me wrong, Amber Kerr gives us the basic foundation of Kaden, and he does have his “book boyfriend” charm; however, there just isn’t enough “Time” to explore him, to delve deeper and to get into his twisted family history so we, as readers, could better understand his hang ups regarding Nika, who he assuredly did love, but was scared to declare to her. I barely felt we got to learn Kaden’s sister’s character. And she plays a huge part in getting her brother to admit his feelings for Nika.
It just REALLY FELT that the second half of the book was very FAST, and glossed over important issues, ignored some even bigger issues, and left a dissatisfying feeling in your gut - even if there is a wedding and HEA. The book felt like it was really missing something, or just needed more time exploring Nika & Kaden’s emotional well-being.
P.S. (the mention of Kadens awful childhood and subsequent trauma is NEVER truly explained. We know next to nothing about his family, save that his mom’s abuse has traumatized him) I would’ve enjoyed a DEEPER story, RICHER character development, and an ending worthy of these two complex characters.
Two childhood best friends make a deal: to get married to each other when they turn thirty (remember when that was old?) if they haven’t found anyone else. Fast forward 11 years and our hero wants our heroine to be with him until he finds a wife or the year is up so they would marry.
I feel like I’m missing something because they go from 0 to 100. One minute they’re besties the next he’s propositioning her. Have they always had feelings for each other? If so, why didn’t they explore that when they were young? Are we supposed to infer it’s because of his kink proclivities?
The BDSM is a formal D/s situation and the heroine is a baby sub figuring out what she likes.
Dialogue feels unfinished. It’s hard to clock what the characters mean. There are also a lot of time jumps and the pacing is incredibly fast. I felt a little drunk reading it.
Medium burn with spanking, praise and degradation, toy usage, edging, spanking and paddling, face slapping, knife play, whipping, choking, spitroast, sharing, dvp, public sex, switching with femdom.
I don’t often write reviews, but after reading what other people have said, I want to add my two cents too.
The main characters have a long history of a deep rooted friendship, it’s evident in the way they communicate and how comfortable they are around each other.
The way the D/s dynamic was handled is also refreshing. More often than not when reading a 🌶️ book, D is over the top and there is little regard for what actually happens in a scene irl. I personally feel like, that part at least, is well explored and it’s clear the author has at a minimum done research.
The only thing I don’t like is the tragic backstory for the MMC. It is entirely possible to want this kind of dynamic without childhood trauma. Although I do like that he went to therapy for this, I don’t think the trauma adds to the plot. The characters could have focused on their deal they made as kids and their friendship while exploring this new dynamic.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it, but only if you have some notion of what a D/s dynamic is.

I have started reading this book due to the charming cover (but this was not the only factor) and the description of friends to lovers, long-no-seen friends, and BDSM elements. This story is definitely on the hotter and sexier side. Nikau and Kaden are good from the very beginning - as teens and as adults. They made some promises and now they are about to try to keep what they promised each other, but it will be something else - she has never experienced a more demanding relationship (especially BDSM one) and he is looking for her to experience a more demanding side of him. They are something that I like about that kind of relationship - you need TRUST and desire to build it with each passing day even more. Nika is about to learn what she can give from her passion to a proper partner. It was a nice read, but as much as I liked their relationship I have not felt as attached to both of them - Nika and Kaden - as I wanted something that felt off to me, maybe I lacked some kind of deeper thought, and development of characters.
I did not feel this book the way the blurb made it out to be. The relationship between Nikau and Kaden seemed more like a power play rather than a healthy BDSM relationship.
Kaden did not appear to me like a true dominant, granted that Nikau enjoyed all that he did to her it felt like an imbalance relationship where he held all the aces.
Kaden is a bundle of contradictions. He claims he is affected by his mum’s violence towards his dad and yet he is thinking of slapping Nika for being stupid.
I feel like Nikau is indecisive. One minute she is looking for a companion for Kaden, the next she is in for all he wants and is doing to her thereby blurring the lines. She is bending over backwards for Kaden (I guess love does that to a person).
I loved the plot and the trope- friends to lovers but the characters did a disservice to the book through no fault of theirs.
Your Body On My Mind follows the friendship between Kaden and Nikau. They have been best friends for many years and decide at 18 that when they turn 30 they’ll marry each other.
At 29 Kaden knocks on Nikau’s door, wanting to begin the process to make that marriage happen.
Why Nikau is hesitant is because Kaden lives a different lifestyle to her in the bedroom and she’s not sure she can be what he ultimately needs, but she feels something deeply for him so she’s open minded to try out his world to see if she can not just handle it, but also enjoy it.
I loved their story, their friendship and their journey together. I also really liked Kaden’s sister.
If you’re wanting something fairly spicy, quite kinky and super sweet and sexy, this is for you.
Man, I really wasn't a fan of Kaden. He really sounded like a toddler. Sex is the only important thing & there's nothing else in relationships because my mom was mean to me growing up. I shouldn't conform at all & do whatever the heck I won't & women should accept that because again my mom was mean to me. 😑
And to make it more annoying they brought in a sex club, which I really hate (so annoying) had another dude there was just too much manipulation on Karen's prt & just taking it on nikia part.
This book is deep and spicy. The growth that the characters experience is relatable. The past that they have, their experiences, and the way that childhood affects into adulthood.
Good story but, at times the writing was off. Sometimes, it felt like the sentence was started in the middle or the end of the sentence was missing. This "style" ruined my concentration and took away from the enjoyment of the book.
I can not accurately put into words how much adoration I have for this book. I always love a good friends to lovers but this took the cake great spice and comes along with a good plot wonderful if you haven’t read it please do.
DNFd at 70-ish%. Another MMC in a not fully formed BDSM relationship, demanding vulnerability from the FMC without ever giving anything in return. Eh. Over it.
Sehr sexy Geschichte mit Friends-to-Lover Trope. Ich hätte zwar noch mehr Spice erwartet, bin aber nicht enttäuscht worden, dafür war es sehr spannend die Entwicklung der Beziehung zu beobachten.
