The Pure Ones: The Hollis Timewire Series Book 3

Rate this book
When Hollis Timewire and her friends are miraculously rescued from execution at the hands of President Camille, they discover there are other Diseased Ones in hiding—and their vast, clandestine society is more extensive than Hollis ever could have imagined. They are led by Arthur Evandrum, a fellow Diseased One who has big plans for Hollis.

As she acclimates to a new way of life, Hollis is charged with seizing the Area 19 Testing Center and assassinating President Camille. But she pushes back. She fears killing the president will send a message that the Diseased Ones are just as dangerous as history says they are. Working with Jonah and her friends, both old and new, Hollis is under the wire to take over the government with as little bloodshed as possible.

Questions and doubts arise as she formulates a plan, and a disturbing revelation thwarts her strategy, leading to a series of unspeakable tragedies that change her world forever.

I cannot even begin to describe how great the author is at making you hate the villains and ending on cliff hangers! What I can say is I am so excited to be part of her ARC team and start the final installment of this series today! I’ll be sharing a more detailed review on my website, mommodeloading.com, soon!

I'm the author, so I'm biased! ;) WOW! This book has my whole heart. Some of the scenes that made it to the final draft of TPO date back to 2017. That's how long this book has been stewing in my brain! And GOODNESS, how it's matured like a fine wine these past 6 years.

The twists that came as I crafted this story devastated me. I openly wept into my keyboard and danced around at midnight in my PJs on many occasions!

Some chapters kept me awake for nights on end because I was SHOCKED at what happened. TPO really took on a mind of its own, and I felt like I was discovering things right along with Hollis. I've grown so much as a storyteller and writer. GOSH! Just looking back at The Diseased Ones, I can see how much I've changed and matured. I'm growing up with Hollis, and it feels amazing. It's been such a wild ride, and I am SO PROUD of how far I've come.

This book is an adventure full of gut-wrenching twists, heart-pounding emotion, and true coming of age. Hollis is so strong in this book, and she finds her voice. It's been a beautiful thing to craft!

Thank you to every person who chooses to read this story. I hope you have the best adventure!

Once again, Danielle Harrington did not disappoint with her twists and turns in The Pure Ones. After reading the first two books in the Hollis Timewire Series, The Diseased Ones and The Unseen Ones, I was excited to learn that her third book was finally making its debut.

Plot:

Saved by the blue orb! After barely escaping President Camille’s attack, Hollis Timewire finds herself in the company of strangers . . . again. Arthur Evandrum promises a life of freedom and change for all the Diseased Ones, and Hollis’s power is the key. Although Hollis yearns for a life of teenage normalcy and for the burden of their fate to fall upon another’s shoulders, she accepts her destiny once she understands that she is the only one who can bring peace amongst society and the Diseased Ones—to live as equals. Unfortunately, this change requires Hollis to master her power, which she has yet to do.

Review: 4.8 / 5.0

The Pure Ones is definitely a doozy, and I enjoyed following Hollis through yet another book. As I said in my reviews about the previous two books, I had never really connected with Hollis. This time, it’s different. Hollis has learned from her mistakes and is cautious (sometimes overly so). While she mourns the normal life she could’ve had, she steps into her role as a leader of the people. In the past, her decisions brought destruction among the Diseased Ones; now, her decisions bring her closer to understanding her power, herself, and her role in the world.

I’m not big into political undertones, so I admit that the book lost me for a bit. Although the story continued moving forward (as it always should), I found myself counting pages to the end and impatiently waiting for the big twists that Danielle is known for. It was a lot different read than the first two. BUT when I tell you that she freaking outdid herself this time, I mean that she O.U.T.D.I.D H.E.R.S.E.L.F. Chapter 25 had me in tears, and once the major action hit, I couldn’t put the book down! My heart pounded through all the plot twists, reveals, and ACTION scenes. I was literally sweating at the end.

Overall, Danielle wrote another amazing book with plot twists and her calling card—a cliffhanger. Her metaphors and imagery about darkness, death, and beasts weave perfectly into the outer and inner plots throughout the story. Opening lines are one of my favorite things about reading, and Danielle knows how to write those great openers: I’ve never considered how I would die. Really, a lot of her writing in this book reads more creatively and mature than her other two books—and who doesn’t love to see an author’s writing grow?

It’s funny how Danielle caught my attention. On Instagram, I scrolled by a fellow redhead and book lover with two cats (now three) who is unapologetically herself when making her entertaining videos. I found her hilarious and endearing, and I loved watching her nerd out about science. And that’s why I bought her first book—I’ve been hooked ever since.

Comparables:
I find this novel comparable to the heroine and enemy dynamic in the last book of The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

FIRST, thank you to the author for gifting me with this ebook! It was AMAZING.

This book is easily the best out of the series so far. From the plot twists and chaos to the sweet love story intertwined, it truly kept my attention all the way through. I have fallen in love with the characters and know that without a doubt, I will LOVE the next book too. The growth of the characters in this book really helped to shape the series more- leading to an AMAZING story.

If you are thinking about reading this series, give it a try!! I really think that this is an amazing YA series that deserves more hype :))

The third installment of this YA Dystopian series is yet another page turner from Harrington. I loved the first two books, but I find that every new chapter in this story hooked me just a little further into this series. The main character has grown so much since book one (where I’ll admit, I had my issues with her!) I started to love Hollis more in the second book, but this one had me really proud of the young woman she was growing into! I’m going to keep this review spoiler free, but just wanted to say that you need to be emotionally ready for the twists and turns this book is going to take you on. And if you haven’t read the first two books, make sure you read those first as this story is chronological!

The Pure Ones had me from the very first page. It's everything you're looking for in a YA fantasy. The adventure, romance, and shocking twists are so, so good! And the writing! The writing is next level amazing. I could not put this book down. The Pure Ones is going to be your next favorite read.

Absolutely loved seeing this world expand in book 3 with Hollis finding a new community of people with abilities. Danielle Harrington creates such a captivating story and characters. She does a great job of answering questions previous books have left me wondering. Hollis' character grows even more as she prepares for the ultimate Puppet Master Showdown. My heart broke with Hollis over her mother and couldn't believe the ending! I'm so glad I got to be an ARC reader for The Empowered Ones and getting to add this series to my library as a result.

This is easily the best book in the series yet. Danielle Harrington is truly a master of the craft. Every question had me daydreaming and wondering, and every reveal elicited visceral responses in me. There's a fairly large cast of characters, with several new additions since last book, and yet they all felt so distinct and so genuinely human. And the twists in this book! Strap in and enjoy the ride.

Outstanding!!! I’m so grateful to have been part of the ARC team for this book. It was a wild ride from start to finish. This book has the largest amount of character growth so far, and I got to learn so much more about Hollis and her powers (and wow, that was fun!). The plot twist was exciting and unpredictable (and better yet, it made sense!). The obstacles that Hollis faces help her develop as a person, which is something I had hoped to see more of in the previous books so I was glad that she got to grow so much in book three. The tragedies broke my heart, definitely a few deep moments where I gasped in shock. Did that just happen? Yes, yes it had. Overall, what a read! I cannot wait until book 4! I’m also excited to buy the paperback and read it again! 110% recommend!

First of all I want to thank the author for inviting me to be a part of her ARC team and sending me the books in exchange for honest reviews.
Along with that I would like to disclose that all opinions are honest and mine only.
Review time :)
WOW was this book a rollercoaster! Easiest the best book so far! With major character development, a whole array of new characters, and so far the biggest plot twists yet, 'The Pure Ones' by Danielle Harrington is definitely worth the read! Our main character Hollis has come such a long ways from book one, The Diseased Ones
I enjoyed Hollis's character growth in this one, and all the changes that have developed and grown the plot. Hollis's relationship with little Maddy is precious as always, and so is her relationship with her honorary fatherly figure, Jonah.
There were some sad moments in this book :( (IFYKYK, no spoilers here!) But there were also good moments too
The cliffhanger really left me itching to know what comes next, if you haven't added the fourth and final installment of the Hollis Timewire series, The Empowered Ones to your bookshelves yet, go do it right now!

My only critique on this series, is the romance could use a little work. Unfortunately throughout the series, Hollis's love interest, Keith, has simply been just a guy to me. I would have loved to get to know his character more and feel a more personal connection to him. And to have had more moments with him and Hollis getting to know each other. Other than that, Danielle has grown so much as an author throughout this series and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

I have been reading this series since the beginning, and I have to say that The Pure Ones is my favorite so far! I felt like I was on the edge of my seat... and that's because I was! My emotions were stretched in every direction. I was intrigued and captured by the characters, the mystery, and the reveals... Oh my goodness... the REVEALS!!!! I don't know how a book can tie up so many loose ends and yet still leave me hanging, thirsty for book 4! (by the way when is it coming out!!??)

When I read Danielle Harrington books, I honestly feel like I'm watching a movie. She truly makes me imagine every detail. I'm caught up in a futuristic world of chaos and beauty, fear and excitement. I'm drawn in by the prom dresses, powers, and heroes. A fantastic mixture of the life of a teenager caught up in saving the world. Since the beginning, I have seen how Hollis has grown to be more courageous, kind, humble, and yet still full of relatable flaws. This rollercoaster story had me scared for my life, laughing, crying, and falling in love. I'm looking forward to reading the next!

Apparently earlier I'd just given the star rating but not a full review, but how do I follow up the other two book reviews? This series is great! The dystopian elements feel familiar, but not tropey. The characters have really come into their own, and I love the projection most of them are on. I loved the twists, too! I can't wait for the fourth one to come out in the spring!

It pains me to do this but this one was a 3.5 star for me. There were too many things that I just wasn't a fan of. So here it is. I love that the books just continue right where they left off. Just right back into the action. My chest literally hurt so much for the first couple chapters of this book. Jonah, Keith, Hollis. These poor things. & My God. Even MORE conspiracy?! I can't keep up. I can see that this conspiracy is to keep the books coming. But it's just all happening way too fast. Arthur gives off major creepy vibes. He's like well written but definitely predictable. He is so freaking creepy, bad vibes through and through. You can just piece together what he's going to do. & Everything that I thought was going to happen with him? Happened. Hollis not wanting to kill Camille irked me. Made zero sense after what he did to you and your friends, what he did to all the other diseased ones, what he did to your mom. Why not kill him 🙄 I'm seriously HATING all the self pitying Hollis keeps doing. & She's also more selfish and naive in this book. It was like there was a character decline instead of development in this one? I dunno. You can see the potential she has, but it's like a really slow build up for her but everything else is happening so fast. One plot twist I didn't see coming in this book was her lineage. & Her power actually manifesting a physical form was WILD af. I liked how descriptive it was, and how we got to hear from the manifestation. The whole fight scene with Camille was definitely well written, interesting, and exciting. It kept me wanting to know more. I was sad that it ended LOL. There was a lot of good action written in it, it didn't feel forced, or dragged on, or cliche. I even for a second was shocked that it wasn't a sedative. It sort of seemed the last half of this book was a little rushed. Another note, I really didn't like the lack of a relationship with Maddy. I felt like in book two she was so protective of him, and then he just got pawned away to Vianne and Ashton. Ashton out of all people. Not a fan of his redemption arc one bit. Was not deserved. But yeah back to sweet Maddy. It felt like there was a connection for Hollis and Maddy and then there was nothing in this book. Also felt like Maddy was built up, only to be an after thought in this one. & I love Keith but honestly? Jonah deserves Hollis. He's just the better man. This better be the slowest of slow burns I swear. Either way, this was another good set up book for the more conspiracy but me personally I felt like it could have been wrapped up here in this book. Or more set up for what's to come later on. This book made everything feel a bit rushed for me.

There were both disappointing moments and really exciting moments. The world is more and more fleshed out . I really enjoyed seeing more about others' abilities and how they interacted, seeing more of the advanced tech in the world. I loved the skepticism towards Arthur and what the compound seemed to be up to. That all felt very real and I heavily enjoyed it.

The author got herself in a bit of a pickle where the first book introduced some really cool and well-known abilities, so now it feels like she is trying to include other ones that you wouldn't expect, which feels a little late. Hollis's friend group having fire, speed, flying, etc. are all just very standard superhero-like, but not EVERYONE in this world can have the obvious, so it feels a little awkward to be introduced to something like so late.

Keith once again, unimpressed me. To be fair, his circumstances made it difficult for them to connect. I was surprised that Camille

I loved the content with Olivia and learning her story, as well as Ashton and his growth. The overprotection of Maddy and such was very cute and valid to watch and learn. I almost wish that Hollis and Vivi were a couple, maybe that can be something that pops up in the future. They connect well over their bond with Maddy, and they essentially already co-parent? I don't feel the need for every single character in this book to be straight, and seeing some queer representation would be cool.

The thing that lacks in this book for me the most is there are many loose ends to be tied up. What does reign under Arthur look like? What were they doing with the blood? I understand some things needs to be left for an additional book, but I was surprised to see where the book ended and so many things unresolved. Not sure how much I'll remember by the next time another book comes out and that does make me more nervous.

I am ready and not ready for Book 4.

I am so ready to see what happens next, to see if all the feelings that have been hinted at for a while now are coming to fruition (which seems to be the case), but also... I am not ready for Hollis' and the other "Diseased Ones" stories to be done. I feel like I have been growing with Hollis, and learning more about the other characters as time has passed has left me feeling attached. Even with some characters that are liked less for one reason or another, I feel sympathy and compassion for them.

Hollis has continued to mature. It's funny because even in the book it is mentioned that it feels like years have happened, but it has been a few short months. The world is chaotic enough, but in those few short months, Hollis has grown and truly has been forced to grow if we are sincere. Can't have everything that happened and expect to stay stagnant.

I feel like I must make a nod to Danielle Harrington, as well. Considering I pretty much read the first 3 of this series back to back I have to give you major applause. I can see your growth as an author. Your world-building, and the way you write, but I also love how you've continued growth in your characters and world as well. It doesn't feel like she goes 15% to 100% without some kind of growth/trigger/reason. I know I've said growth a lot, but I feel like there has been a lot of it... even in terms of the author. Really magnificent job, Danielle!

Now I shall begin waiting impatiently for Book 4. I am beyond ready, but also not ready. This alone is what is going to make this series easily one of my favorites. I cannot wait to introduce it to my daughter, who I think will love it as much as I have.

Hollis Timeware had no idea what she was walking into trying to rescue Jonah from President Camille. But just as she's about to be executed, a blue orb teleports them all to safety. This leads to the discovery of another undected community of Diseased Ones no one knew about. A community much more advanced than theirs.

Arthur Evandrum is the leader of this community, but he reveals that even though he has the biomarker, he is a society member and runs one of the Testing Center's that screen for the biomarker and for any sign that the Diseased One's might be among society. But Arthur has a plan, he has managed to infiltrate a large number of Testing Centers across the world and believes that Hollis is the final piece to finally bringing down the Test for the biomarker and changing the world.

Hollis agrees to help him and has to train like never before to push her power as hard as she can, to discover the true nature of it, to finally understand what she can do. Hollis knows that she will give her all to take down President Camille but there is still something about Mr. Evandrum that doesn't sit well with her. She's not sure she can trust him either.

My thoughts:
@djharringtonwriter told me that she thinks this is her best book yet and you know what? She is spot on! I just love how much growth Hollis has shown since the first book. She has grown up, become a sensible young lady with strong morals and the correct approach to justice. I. DID. NOT. SEE. THAT. PLOT. TWIST. COMING!!! 😱😱 I was absolutely blown away. Again, I love the side characters, I love the friendships she builds, I love young Maddy, I love how she feels safe with Keith but most of all, I love how Jonah has become the father figure a young girl SHOULD have always had growing up. This story is so captivating I literally cannot wait for The Empowered Ones!! 😍🖤

I was hooked from the start! The discovery of more "Diseased Ones" aka people with powers, would be shocking enough but adding to the narrow escape from President Camille Hollis and her friends are in a very understandable state of shock. Then the author wrenches at your emotions even more, having Keith, who is under Camille's control, attempt to kill Hollis. Upon waking Hollis discovers that she requires multiple healing sessions before she will be able to leave her hospital bed to see Johan. When she finally does get to see Johan their visit is interrupted by Arthur demanding Hollis, come to his office for a meeting, even though Hollis is still injured and is struggling to walk.

There is a lot of foreshadowing leading up to the meeting in Arthur's office, as well as during the meeting itself. Hollis is very suspicious of Arthur's motives and how truthful he is being even though on the surface he appears to be giving Hollis all the information she is seeking. She does eventually decide to tell Arthur where the people she has been staying with are hiding, hoping that it is the right decision.

I never saw the twist revealed by Hollis' mother coming but I loved it!! The amount of heartbreak Hollis goes through as a result of seeing her mother is perfection! The connection between her and Olivia as a result of the meeting and then Olivia standing up for Hollis so she can be alone with the two people she needs most after her mother is heartwarming.

I could not get enough of the action that was happening throughout the novel. I cannot wait for the next and final book that comes out later this month!

(3.5 stars) I’m still enjoying this series and can’t wait to read the final book, but The Pure Ones did follow a very close outline to book two, The Unseen Ones. I also progressively noticed more and more similarities in this book to past dystopian stories (The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc.); for example, we meet a new group of characters with a morally questionable leader who have been hiding from the government, but are now prepared to strike and take over with the added help of our main character… sound familiar? I just think this book was the most predictable yet, although I emphasize with the author because I can only imagine how difficult it is to write a unique dystopian series nowadays.

Additionally, I think I’ve started to like some of the side characters more than our main character Hollis at this point. I do love her powers, but truthfully it felt like she backpedaled from her growth in book two. It was nice when the attention very occasionally shifted from Hollis to a few other characters (like Olivia) and we got a bit of their backstories, but it never felt like enough. Personally, I would love to connect to more of the characters and feel more for them, but that’s difficult when 99% of the focus is entirely on Hollis. This also applies to the romance between Keith and Hollis, which feels almost impossible to appreciate since we still don’t know very much about him.

I know a lot of what I wrote seems negative, but overall I did enjoy The Pure Ones and I do want to finish the series. I’m just hoping that we get to see more of the great side characters in The Empowered Ones and ideally some relatable growth in Hollis.

This baby picks RIGHT back up where book 2 ended!
Hollis and her friends were about to be killed by President Camille when they were rescued by a blue orb? We find out there are other groups of Diseased Ones also hiding!

We meet Arthur, who leads this new group we meet, and he also has his own ability. Arthur seems to have big plans that rely on Hollis and her powers. She will be in charge of taking over Area 19 and assassinating President Camille.

Hollis has to come up with her own plan that will have as little bloodshed as possible. With her teacher Jonah and all her friends, they help her create a new plan. To create a better world that doesn't show people the past is right about Diseased Ones.

There are soooooo many new things we read in this book! It is a completely new location as well, which is super interesting. There is so much development from pretty much every character we have known from the series so far. There is so much new information for us to wrap our head around with some unexpected twists and turns along the way. The relationship from the past deepen as well as the new relationships Hollis gains along the way gives us a bit of an insight into things. We will question what exactly is wrong and what is right.

Honestly, this book for me felt a bit faster in a good way, but also, maybe i just sped through this book! Overall I am loving this series and can't wait to read the final one. This also left us on a dang cliffhanger that made me instantly want to pick up book 4!!!

I was gifted this as an ARC, but this is my honest opinion!! Thank you, Danielle, for the opportunity to read this series.

Finished! It took me a bit longer than i had planned but that wasn't because of the storyline.

We follow Hollis after she and her friends escape President Camille. Thanks to Olivia who has teleporting power they arrive at a new place within a mountain which houses a whole group of people who have powers. Arthur Evandrum wants Hollis to help him overturn Camille and to bring a new world order where people with powers don't have to hide.
Hollis restarts her training with Jonah and discovers new elements of her power all whilst finding her place in this mini society. The starts missing her mother and wants to see her, when she does she discovers a new truth about herself and her past that she has to come to terms with.
Through all of this she still is "just" a teenager. She falls deeper for Keith and enjoys spending time with her friends.
At the Festival when she's the most happy she's been in a long while her world shatters once again and she decides it is time to confront Camille.
During their epic fight the embraces the beast within and when the fight comes to an end she finds out she's been betrayed.

The writing really evolved and the character development gained more depth. Danielle Harrington did a great job on this book and got all the emotions out of me. I rooted for Hollis, felt sorry for what she goes through and the dance with Keith had me smiling for her. I'll be starting The Empowerd Ones immediately.

For starters, I've read all of the books to this series thus far and The Pure Ones is by far my favorite.

Danielle does a fabulous job building up apprehension to what's going to happen along with keeping you on your toes with not knowing what is to happen next.

I was impressed that my assumptions to what was going to happen was wrong, it's always nice to not be able to easily guess what's to come in a book.

Danielle has done a fabulous job creating such a diverse set of characters, both new and old. Along with coming up with a vast array of powers and/or abilities. She creates such a richness and depth to her characters, that I have quite a few that I would say are my favorites.

The only complaint I have about this book, is I feel that some of the maturity in Hollis's communication style doesn't make sense in regards to her age and with being so new to being able to show emotion and express herself based on the timeline given. Though I still really enjoyed Hollis's growth and story arc.

Overall I absolutely loved this book, it is my favorite so far in the series and I am impatiently waiting for Danielle to give us the last book in the series. I have no idea what's to come, but I can't wait to find out.

Thank you Danielle for letting me be a part of your ARC team in exchange for an honest review.

WOW this is the best one yet. Full review to come once the book is out so I don't spoil anything.

This book was so good! Danielle was not kidding about the plot twists!! I think the plot was great, it really kept me intrigued the whole time. I don’t read a lot of dystopian so I don’t have much to compare it to, but I still really enjoyed it.

I really like how Beezee is a mother figure to Hollis, especially given how turbulent her relationship with her actual mother is. I’m glad we get an update on Hollis’ mom because I was wondering about that. How must she feel with her daughter being a criminal (in society’s eyes)? I’m glad we get to see more of Hollis’ mom in this book. It was good to catch up with her.

As much as I love Jonah, I think he needs to get more upset when Hollis messes up. I know he is like a father to Hollis, but given all the deadly mistakes Hollis has made, I think Jonah needs to put his foot down more. I always like scenes where nice characters are really mad because it feels out of character in a good way where it makes them feel more 3-dimensional.

This book raised a lot of questions for me about the world building. Hollis says that the last job she’d want is a political. What does the political state look like? Given that people with the biomarker are killed, it seems like human rights and general acceptance of different types of people has gone backwards. This really makes me question the political state in ways that don’t directly relate to the biomarker. Gun control? Gay marriage? Freedom of religion? So many questions! They aren’t directly related to the plot so maybe I’ll never know the answer, but it is interesting to think about what the people in this dystopian future would think about such topics.

-UPDATE, I have added the spoiler-y parts of the review below! I was writing these chapter by chapter as I read so you can follow along with my chaotic emotional journey-

The way Ashton says “I’m an ass but id never kill anybody” BRUH

OMG “that bitch dies tonight” in the memory vision of the night hollis was thrown in the rapids. DAMN ASHTON. I’m not condoning attempted murder, but I hope he gets a redemption arc. I love Ashton as a character. I had hoped Vianne could turn him around but thus far he is still a liar. Vianne needs a nicer partner and Ashton needs redemption!

So Darren helped in the attempted murder too? I want more about him. There are hints that he was mad about Audrey getting hurt which is why he helped try to kill Hollis, but I feel like a good person doesn’t do something so major like that. More details on Darren please!

21- OMG the video?? And the plan?? Ashton having a redemption arc!!! BLESS

22- intrigued. Hollis’s plan seems so solid. But since I know there is a 4th book, something must go wrong. Maybe her mom is evil?? And in league with Camille?

23-awesome. I’m glad Ashton is going to help. Terrace is cool. He is growing on me. I am an OG Ashton Stan (quote first review) and I’m glad both he and Vianne (my other fave) get more page time in this book

24- ability festival…the ball? With the dress on the book cover?? THE BALL??

25- going to meet mom ahhh! “What do you mean no one knew???”!!!! CAMILLE IS HER DAD WTF pardon my language I am DISTURBED that is no okay I am *unwell* (this confirms that the biomarkers CAN be passed down, but they aren’t always because that would mean all of the diseased ones’s parents had powers. UNLESS everybody has powers in their DNA but the biomarker shows who’s powers are able to be activated)

27- cool detail that hollis and Camille’s eyes turn black when ‘the creature’ from their powers is activated

28- George and the serum: what the heck is it?? Does it take away powers? Are there a variety of serums that bestow powers onto those without? Is Arthur gonna make everybody a diseased one with the serum? I predict George is important for the next book

As I’m reading the chapter where hollis and Keith are going to dance, I really want something bad to happen and interrupt them. Give me the drama!!

CALLED IT—videos of her mom the roof!! :(((

OMG Camille blaming hollis for killing people including her own mother!! He is definitely using his power from afar to kill them. Hollis isn’t even there it makes me so mad that nobody will believe her

“Keith, you can’t save me from this!” Great angsty line

I am OBSESSED with Hollis begging for Ashton’s help. It is so humbling for her I think. Plus I love Ashton and I am DYING for him to have a redemption arc

“Welcome back daughter” he knew?? How did he find out?? her mom said he had no idea!

ASHTON GOT SHOT hell no! NOT MY MAN

Camille turned into a monster?? Can hollis do that too? Will she learn how in the next book?

OMG Arthur swapped the sedative for poison? Did Beezee know?? How did this happen WTf! Is George involved? Was this a serum??

What the heck is that ending? I need to know is Ashton is okay!!

Danielle Harrington has done it again!
I loved this story, the growth I see in Hollis, and the plot twists are so unexpected!!
The story resumes as Hollis discovers more people with powers. She makes new friendships while continuing to deepen the old ones, especially with her mentor Jonah and her love interest Keith. Hollis becomes acquainted with Arthur Evandrum, the leader of the underground world which she now finds herself a part of. Although his intentions for the future seem honorable, she can't shake the feeling of his possessiveness over her or the boy she rescued in the previous book, Maddy. She suspects he has bigger plans than what is proposed on the surface. In agreement with Arthur, she works with Jonah to explore her power and the breakthroughs are shocking! There were so many unexpected revelations in this book, I couldn't stop thinking about what the next chapter would bring! Yet another cliff hanger at the end has me eagerly waiting for the conclusion of the series in book 4!!

4.75 stars, rounded up!

I had the absolute honor of being a beta and ARC reader for Danielle, and this third installment of the Hollis Timewire Series is WILD.

Action, betrayal, corruption, and a touch of romance--this book has it all. And I absolutely love how much Hollis has grown. Being completely honest, she kinda got on my nerves in the first book lol but in a good way? She became more tolerable in the sequel, and in The Pure Ones she's a total badass!! It was so fun seeing her and the gang back together in a new place with new obstacles.

Harrington does a phenomenal job setting the pace and catapulting you through all of the mind-blowing twists and turns. And OH MY GOD that gut wrenching plot twist in chapter 25!!!! My emotions were all over the place by the end of that scene; it was written so beautifully!

My *only* reason for not giving this a full 5 stars is because the revelation at the end was too predictable to me. BUT the author did leave a ton of room for so many exciting possibilities in the finale that I can't wait for!

I had the unique opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book, and, being a fan of the series, I was not sure I was prepared for this part of the story. At this point, Hollis and her group have been brought into a bigger part of the resistance to Society headed by Arthur Evandrum, another diseased one. She realizes that her world is actually a lot bigger than she ever thought, and she is going to play a key role in bringing down society and setting up a new world where all people are equal. Danielle does an amazing job of bringing in new characters and places, as well as revolutionary ideals to the world. This book is full of twists and turns and it was a read that affected me deeply. Without spoilers, one part of the book had me gasping and vocally expressing my shock and heartbreak, to the point where my daughters came running out of their room to make sure I was alright. Very few books pull that sort of reaction out of me. I had to take a walk outside to clear my head. This book is a perfect addition to the series and I cannot wait for book 4.

* ARC Reader Review *

An intense, captivating third in a series that you NEED to read. Once you pick it up, you won’t be able to put it down. In fact, you might want to throw it across the room but you’ll run to get it so you can keep going again!

From the start of The Diseased Ones through the end of The Pure Ones I was enraptured by Harrington’s use of language and tone to bring us into Hollis’ world and brain. I truly felt like I was in the story with her, waiting for her to figure out how to get out of yet another problem (and as other reviewers have stated: cliffhangers!). If you enjoyed the first two, there’s no question on whether you should keep reading with The Pure Ones.

Harrington elicits a sense of YA Dystopian nostalgia reminiscent of The Hunger Games era, her execution perfect in both tone and plot structure. The journey within the world and mind of Hollis Timewire is ever-changing, ever-evolving, and well-deserving of a place on your bookshelf. If I were a specific character in the series, I’d be using my power to *suggest* you get this book and read it today.

The first book will always hold a special place in my heart, but this third installment CHANGED EVERYTHING?? I’m still in awe of the amount of detail that went into world building, and character growth. Especially, when it came to Hollis, seeing her change over the course of the series has been so realistic. I think overall her arc in this book was my absolute favorite. Danielle always does a phenomenal job at writing characters that feel three dimensional, which is always something that’s really important for a good reading experience.

This book just really solidified the fact that this is one of my all-time favorite dystopian series out there. There’s so much heartbreak in TPO that it actually made me feel so many things, and I cried ALOT towards the 80% mark. That’s kind of a big deal considering books don’t make me cry that much, but TPO made me feel SO many things. I still cant get certain scenes and plot points out of my head. This book is an absolute MASTERPIECE and has definitely become my favorite in the series. I really can’t wait to see how everything wraps up in the end.

Man what can I say about this book!? First thank you to the author for gifting it to me so I could read it and be ready for the fourth book as an arc reader

This book was captivating and so very detailed. I loved every second of it and truly can’t wait for the fourth book to get in my hands to finish the series. Will I be sad when the series is over? More than likely because I have truly loved seeing Hollis grow as a person, friend, fighter and so much more. Watching her partner with someone she considers her enemy to take on someone worse for the world, making new friends, building her strength to be a leader was all so beautifully written.

I really can’t wait to see where Hollis goes in the next book because the twists and turns in this book took me out! They shocked me and had me withhold a scream of shock and horror with the things I read. I had strong feelings about the area 7 leader and things I knew would happen but to find other things out were so how dare it feelings.

I NEED BOOK 4 ALREADY!
