The Crypt
Sarah Roberts is in search of a weapon on the streets of Budapest.
A strange man in a fedora follows her, but before she can find out who he is, she is arrested. After her release from the Hungarian jail, she is ordered out of the country.
The man in the fedora shows up at her Budapest hotel before she has a chance to leave for the airport. He is from a psychic research organization and she is to come with him back to the States. When she refuses, she is informed that she does not have a choice. She is now property of the United States government.
Sarah then receives a message that it all ends in "The Crypt" in nine days. An apology accompanies the note.
While Sarah remains in Hungary and struggles to locate her target, she has to keep the Hungarian government off her back as well as the fedora-wearing American who has a ten-man team hunting her.
The only way to escape their reach is to fake her own death. Convinced it's her only option, Sarah concocts a plan that will deal with her target and have herself killed in the process.

I was excited to read this book as a continuation of The Warning, but wound up a bit disappointed. I had come to enjoy the character, Sarah, in the Warning, but all the character attributes I had liked had changed in this book. She lost the sweet Girl Next Door qualities and became hardened, tough, vulgar, foul-mouthed, and self-centered, which I found distracting from the heroine part she plays. At times I found it difficult to figure out who was more dispicable---Sarah, or the bad guys.
The storyline was just too over the top. Everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink was thrown in. I had hoped Sarah would mellow a bit with the attraction to Parkman, but that did not happen.
I will read the next book, just to see if Sarah returns to her former self. If not, it will probably be the last of this series that I read.

This one started out as a firecracker. I thought the beginning grabbed you and made you want to read more. Then it pulls you in with her messages from her dead sister, unfortunately, then it just seemed to turn into one big shoot out. Overall,I decided to go with 3 stars because I did like the beginning.Would I read it again? No.

Deeper and deeper
Omg. This story gets deeper and more intriguing with each book. What's my girl gonna stumble into next. I'm really caught up in this series. Jonas Saul has it where I can't possibly back out now. Well on to the next book.

Surprised at all the 4-5 star reviews. Yes, the plot is interesting and fast moving. There is always something new happening, keeping you wanting to know what happens next. But it seems like Sarah never gets into any real trouble; she's always able to escape without a hitch. Too easy, too unbelievable.
She's a tough heroine, which is great to see. Unfortunately, I think it's a bit overdone and unbelievable. She is all about being rude, talking back to authority, and testing her limits. Which would be okay at times, but she literally has no charm or like-ability about her, unless you count her objective to kill the bad guy.
The author attempts to build Sarah's character by talking about her sister's past and why she wants to kill the bad guy. But I don't think it's enough. All the characters are pretty 1.5 dimensional (the 0.5 is for some effort). The villain has absolutely no redeeming qualities that we can feel sorry for or relate to, which is an essential missing ingredient.
The author could be very good if he develops his character development skills.
Bottom line, I'd read this book again for free, but if I had to pay, I'd choose something better.

I tried this book because it was free on Amazon.
I can't understand why the reviews of this book are as high as they are.
I found the main character annoying and unbelievable. A 22 year old girl shooting so many people with impunity, try it, go to any city and fire a gun once, i will bet there will be a reaction from police and passers by, but not for this character, she leaves a trail of maimed characters behind her, and there is no response from anyone.
She takes on and beats multiple professional men simultaneously. Sorry I just don't buy it.
The messages from her dead sister seem more like an email than a message from the afterlife.
I guess I am not the target audience for this, but I'm no sure who is. The story is childish, but there is too much violence and swearing to be aimed at children.
I confess, I gave up half way through, I just didn't want to waste any more time on it when there are so many better books to read.

This is a book I had a hard time to put down... One of the best thrillers I have read, really.
Other reviewers have written what the story is all about, so I won't go into that myself. All I wish to say is that this story is very well written. It begins with action and never slows down!
I love the main character (Sarah Roberts) and the way she handles things. Her psychic links with her dead sister brings a special twist to the way the story unfolds and I really enjoyed this.
Jonas Saul has just found himself a new fan!

I would have given it 5 stars but I find the constant use of bad language by the 18 year old off putting.

This was the first book I've read in the series and found that I really liked it a lot. I didn't even notice the swearing so I don't know why that's an issue with some people concerning this book. That the protagonist hears her dead sister's voice was a different angle to what I'm usually reading. I didn't find it odd - it fit the storyline perfectly. I would read the other books in the series. The crypt was an interesting place, the descriptions well-done.

I absolutely love this book. Sarah just keeps getting better. The story kept me wanting more. I could not put this book down. It is well written, as are all the books Jonas Saul writes. Great story. The characters are amazing. I look forward to reading more about Sarah and her courageous acts. She is definitely a great heroine. I highly recommend this book.

Sarah Roberts has to be the most annoying character ever! I just felt like I wanted to give her a slap and tell her to calm down and shut up a mo! Pity good story otherwise.

You know when you're sitting in a waiting room and the TV is on ... and there's some show and it's interesting enough to hold your attention, so you watch it rather than, say flip through an ancient PEOPLE or scroll through your phone ... but when the receptionist calls your name you pretty much just up and walk away without giving the TV a second glance? Because the plot was just interesting enough to keep you watching but not interesting enough to make you care about what happens next?
Yeah. That was THE CRYPT. I'm mid-way through and despite all the running around, "intrigue", and nuggets of "what does that mean?" I really couldn't care less.

Amazing read! Another thriller.
Just finished this one in less then 24hrs. I couldn’t put it down. I was captivated by the story and wanting to know if Sarah would succeed. It was sad to see Bennnett and Rosalie die but I was relieved she caught her sisters killer and that Rod didn’t capture her. Both her and Parkman made it out again. This is an amazing book, I can’t recommend this series enough. Today I’ll start book 4, however I’ll also have to slow down as I need to get things done and can’t continue reading all day and night. Lol. If you’ve never read this series you have to start. This story is captivating, thrilling, and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Good book
The series gets better with every book still some unbelievable stuff going on but I'm enjoying the read. Sarah can sure get herself into some odd situations.

Very good book.
I like Sarah Roberts and Parkman. They make a good team. Having Vivian looking out for Sarah is a plus that keeps the book exciting.

Close call.
This was the fastest pace so far. It was almost too many people and places to keep up with. I'm glad Parkman survived but I wish Rosalie and Bennett had too.
