Brutal and very intense for even a polar I think. The convoluted mess of characters interwoven with personal histories and mafia drama brings up the title of the novel well, total chaos.
I particularly liked the main character Fabio, being a former voyou himself but now a cop, brings a conflicted interest in all his interactions. His character flaws also make him likable for how much he sucks, how much he knows he sucks, but you feel for him for being so honest with himself and his poor decisions.
Not bad, but too convoluted. I had trouble tracking the different characters and their various associations. The book painted a distinctive picture of Marseille, a distinctive city, and I appreciated that.
