He falls for me first, but I will never fall again.
I fully gave my heart once and a year ago, it was shattered into a million pieces against a tree. Literally.
Tristan Reinhart might be the superhero of Formula One, but even he can’t fix that. I didn’t expect to run into the World Champion on my way to work. I also didn’t expect him to make me laugh the way he does after I was convinced I’d never laugh again.
But he does.
Earth shattering and stomach turning, he makes it impossible to not break down my walls, piece by piece.
He has me wanting things I swore I’d never have again. Things that remind me of the love I once had. He makes me feel.
I thought it would be one night. But he makes it perfectly clear he wants more than that. And even though I try to keep one foot out the door, I catch my heart wanting to stay.
But I know there will be no happy ending for me. I had my shot and it ended in pain. My crushed heart reminds me of why I can never be that girl.
Billie Lustig is a Dutch girl who has always had a thing with words: either she couldn’t shut up, or she was writing an adventure stuck in her head. She’s pretty straight forward, can be a pain in the ass & is allergic to bullshit, but most of all, she’s a sucker for love. She is happily married to her own alpha male who taught her the truest thing about love: when it’s real, you can’t walk away.
“He didn’t take your heart with him to the ground. You threw it in there. And that’s a choice.”
I had a little experiment having fun with my KU subscription and I tried an f1 romance everyday to find one I can stick with and three days later this was the winner.
But you can't convince this is not about Daniel Ricciardo 😂 you can't, the parallels were too obvious. But I'm a Honey badger Stan so I enjoyed it.
I feel like it needed a little polish to make it an unforgettable read for me, it was way too long and repetitive and some plot lines got annoying even though I knew they were gonna get solved pretty easily (the Nina situation)
The writing style was fine, mainly what convinced me to try it out fully and not dnf. They had really cute moments that got me back into the story. The f1 was more accurate than the other books I have tried and it wasn' weirdly described.
I skipped the smut cause I can't imagine Daniel like that, it should be illegal 😂 And don't get me wrong, I think his bff Sam gave off such max vibes? Verstappen but make him playboy 😂 it was fun either way, I loved the bromance maybe a little more than the romance 🤏
If you need a little kick after the dirty air series, try this one. It has similar vibes even though it's not as refined, you might still enjoy it.
Ahhhh....What a story! I absolutely loved it. This was my first F1 book, and boy, I can't wait for the rest of the series! Tristan was a stunning ray of sunshine in Nikkie's dull mundane world, but the care he had for was simply beautiful! And her growth was lovely to see. I adore these two and their friendship group. It's just amazing. There's so many people within this lot that need their story told, and I'm here for the whole bloody ride! I want and need more. I loved the setting of this book and the storyline was so good! (And I'm obsessed with this cover. He is 🔥🔥🔥)
This was my first Billie Lustig book and my first F1 racing book. And what a book it is!!
I couldn't put this book down and when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it. My heart was in my throat at some points and I just needed more.
Nikkie is such a strong character. She'd been through a lot before she met Tristan and still had her struggles throughout. As for Tristan I loved him from the get go. He didn't care about showing his feelings or emotions.
This may of been my first by Billie but it certainly won't be my last!! And I can't wait for the rest of the series.
I liked Niki at the start of the book but she was annoying towards the end and made the book harder to finish. The resolution with Nina wasn’t satisfying and felt rushed at the end.
Maybe it was just me and my absolute attachment to Australian Formula 1 drivers, but I did enjoy this. I loved the f1 elements - particularly the mention of contract decisions and even the sad reality of crashes and red flags. Those elements made this book feel a lot more genuine in comparison to the other f1 romances I've read previously. The back story to the main character was a great add-on that kept poking towards a full reveal, separating it from being completely romance.
Billie once again smashed it with another sensation. Oversteer was an incredible ride from start to finish. I am a sucker for the ‘he falls first’ trope and Tristan fully embodied it. His relationship with the sassy Dutch bar owner Nikkie was fun, explosive and sweet. The book was an absolute page-turner with incredible world building. While I am not familiar with F1, Billie wrote it in a way that is engaging and easy to follow. Hold on tight you’re about to be enthralled!
Tristan was a F1 world champion. However, he had been struggling with the new team and he felt gutted when they sacked him. He was at his all time low. On a night out in Amsterdam, a gorgeous blonde stumbled across him. Not only did Nikkie not fangirl over him, she gave him a wake up call. To perk up and focus on the race. Her bright smile, sexy curves and unwavering faith in him captivated him on the spot. She reignited the fire in him. Their banter was amazing and there was immediate chemistry between them. He was not ready to let her go. They decided to spend the night together. They thought it was a bit of fun but quickly realised they meant so much more to each other. Tristan flew Nikkie out to where he raced at every chance. He was completely whipped yet did not shy away from showing her affection.
Nikkie was once a rebellious kid with a questionable past and a father on the wrong side of the law. A car accident haunted her for years and she lived with guilt every day. She did not think she deserved happiness after what happened. When the past caught up with her, she found herself in a dilemma having to decide whether to risk the career of the love of her life or forgo her one chance at true love.
Billie sure knew how to write men that set my heart racing. Tristan stole my heart from the get-go. Not only was he a talented and successful driver, the things he did for Nikkie showed how thoughtful, caring and romantic he was. He knew how to treat a girl right. The romance between them was electric. Every word, touch and emotion was beautifully delivered. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the series goes!
This is book one in The On The Grid Series and it is Tristan and Nikkei’s story and omg what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Tristan is a world champion in the formula one racing world and absolutely loves what he does so when he is told that he is no longer needed for there team he is not only angry, furious but also gutted. Nikkie had gone through so much after her boyfriend Wes who was also her best friend was killed in a car accident so she is taking one day at a time and struggling to pay the bills because of the mess he left her in and also his mother constantly guilt tripping her and demanding money and then she meets Tristan and knows who he is as she had watched formula one racing all her life. The connection, attraction and chemistry between them is so strong and intense and he makes her feel alive for the first time since Wes died and they end up having one night together which was absolutely amazing for both of them but what happens when it becomes more and the person blackmailing Nikkie becomes more aggressive and if Nikkie doesn’t stop them it could completely destroy everything that she had built in her life recently and will she be brave enough to confide in Tristan and confront the situation before she loses everything that is important to her along with the happy ending and future that she deserves. Wow this book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive and completely hooked me into the story right from the start and kept my attention throughout the whole book which I ended up reading in one sitting. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Trigger Warnings include: mentions of loss of a love one due to a car accident including details on page, drug use
I know I experienced this book differently because I’m an F1 fan, and because I read it on a Sunday after a race. Tristan claimed my heart instantly. When the world champion’s career hangs in the balance, Nikkie comes into his life unexpectedly and flips his whole life upside. She’s hiding demons, ghosts, secrets. And they’re all weighing her down. The last thing she wants to do is share that weight. But Tristan never gave her any other choice. No matter how much she hides, how much she hesitates, he’s always right there. She believed in him, and that’s all he needed. That man was a lovesick fool instantly. And I loved it! He wanted to take care of her, no matter what it took. Unfortunately…Nikki would rather hurt him and break her own heart instead of telling him the truth and giving him the opportunity to decide for himself. And I’m not a fan of that narrative. Especially with how all in he is! And how all in he continued to be when he did finally discover the truth of the situation!
My Favorite Quotes: • “If tonight is all we have, then let’s make sure we won’t forget.” • “You feel like you’re made for me.” • “You believed in me.” • “You’re amazing. And you’re mine.” • “You ruined all women for me.” • “Tell me you’re mine.” • “I’m addicted to you.” • “I’m sticking around for as long as you’ll let me.” • “You love it when I praise you with my hands on your p!ssy.” • “I love to race. But I love her more.”

This book was so good! ❤️🔥
Nikkie is struggling to make ends meet. She owns a bar that used to belong to her and her boyfriend, Wes. Wes unfortunately died in a car accident about 1.5 years ago and the bar has been in debt since before then. Everyday has been a struggle for her as well as Wes’s mom coming to her demanding money. One night she runs into Tristan, who is a F1 race car driver. She’s bold and sassy and doesn’t hold back and Tristan is intrigued by her. He asks her to spend time with her that night and they do. The chemistry between them is undeniable and he wants more than one night with her. They start to fall for one another, but Nikkie can’t help but feel that all things tend to go bad. Add that on top of Wes’s mom still demanding things from her, as well as threading her. She loves Tristan, but is it enough?
I loved the connection between Nikkie & Tristan. I also loved how he fell for her first. He brought her back to her old self, as well as who she was now after the accident. He helps break down her walls, while she opens him up and ends up being his lucky charm. 🍀
I can’t wait to read more by B. Lustig! I’m hoping Sam & Casey get their own story too! ❤️
Favorite Quotes: “She’s like my light at the end of a dark tunnel, and all I crave to do is pick her up and take her with me everywhere I go.”
“That man is mine. Mine to fuck. Mine to hold. Mine to go home with. Mine to love.”
This was my first F1 romance, and I know it won't be the last. It's a reverse grumpy/sunshine, he falls first, sports romance.
Tristan Reinhart, and F1 World Champion was down on his luck, and his career was spiraling. He decided to go out one night and that was when he met Nikkie. She actually approached him but didn't act like a crazed fan. He was instantly intrigued by her and followed her to the bar where she was working.
Nikkie was haunted by the demons of her past. She worked in a bar with her friend, but she was struggling to make ends meet, and she could not escape from the ordeals she had gone through. When she met Tristan, she was interested, but also too afraid to pursue anything more than one night.
What can I say? Tristan was so swoony. He was so sweet and caring toward Nikkie. I loved how he treated her and that he did his best to help her when she needed it without her having to ask for help. He could also see that there was something tormenting her, but he was understanding that she didn't want to talk about it, so he didn't push her.
This book had some funny moments, especially when both Nikkie's and Tristan's friends were around. There were also some moments that filled me with anxiety and not being able to stop reading to see what happened next. There were some twists and eventually healing for Nikkie.
I really enjoyed this story, and I am looking forward to the next book!
This is my first Billie Lustig novel and this does not disappoint!!!
This is a F1 sports romance novel where the MMC falls first and let me tell you this guy is swoonworthy!
Tristan Reinhart is a world champion, the golden boy and everyones fave driver. When his career takes a turn he does not expect he decides to let off some steam and heads out for the night with his friends. While out he meets Nikkie.
The chemistry between these two is 🔥🔥🔥 Nikkie is struggling with her own issues, with bills to pay, a bar to run and still struggling with grief of a loved one, Nikkie sees Tristan and as a fan introduces herself, thinking nothing of it. Until Tristan follows her…. Their connection is too strong to ignore and they both feel it. Nikkie wonders if it’s safe to follow her heart while still be haunted by the past.
Tristan is just a dreamboat 😍😍 He’s caring, sexy and falls hard for Nikkie. He’s a perfect sports book boyfriend!! I really liked Nikkie as the FMC and feel readers will really want her to have the best and move on with her struggles.
I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what Billie does next with this world she’s created. Amazing. ❤️
Wowsers! This is my first racing / F1 book I have read and I like we have unlocked a new like! Don't get me wrong, F1 has always been a big thing through my childhood, my dad and brother still travel to watch it now, but for me not so much anymore. Hence why I've always been. Little reluctant to read one. But obviously I had to read it if Billie wrote it 😂
I instantly felt for Nikkie, what a hard life she has been dealt and to still come out the other side strong was something. She obviously is struggling with it all but you could still see the fire in her eyes.
Tristan was a trickier one for me, I took a while to warm to him but once I did 🥵 what a guy! He completely wore his heart on his sleeve and couldn't hide his happy or sad emotions.
This book was far more than just about these two though, there were so many amazing characters, the banter was off the scale and I'm already looking forward to reading more in the On The Grid series, I have so feeling about who's the next book will be about 😍
"True. But before I met you, my mind was nowhere to be found. Take this, baby. Let me be your tree, but accept that you're my soil."
This is my first time reading anything written by this author, and I found myself picking it up under the suggestion of PS and one of their "Smutty Sunday" emails. I am glad I did! The way this book pulled me in and held me there is magic.... I am a sucker for an accent, and as soon as I read that Tristan is from Australia, I got goosebumps and my lizard brain read all of Tristan's lines with an Aussie accent 😍. And man, some of the conversations with the banter... they were even better with the accent. I loved the fmc, I hurt for her and her past, I wanted to beat up her ex's mom to protect her, and I wanted all the good things for her. Same goes for Tris, ALLLL the good things. The way I loved this book.... usually a 3rd act breakup irritates me, but this one had me in tears. This was so good that I am suffering a book hangover from the end, with hearts in my eyes. I can't wait for the next in the series ❤️
Tristan is a F1 driver and loves what he does and wouldn’t want to do anything else. Nikkie when to school to be a physical therapist but is in a rut right now. Her life has taken a turn and she needs time to figure things out. Tristan takes one look at Nikkie and knows exactly what he wants….her. As these two are getting to know each other their lives are going on around them. Nikkie needs to put her past behind her and move on before she can have a happy future. I loved Tristan for Nikkie and the banter these two share was sometimes laugh out loud funny. I really enjoyed their friends and can’t wait to see those relationships grow. I enjoyed This book and I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.
The struggles Nikkie went through would be devastating for anybody to try and deal with but I loved her strength in overcoming the things life has thrown at her with having the support, patience and understanding from Tristan.
Tristan struggled with which path in life to take second guessing if he was making the right choice for himself, which is something we all struggle with at some point and to have him find his ‘lucky charm’ was super cute. Nikkie gave him the push he needed to come out on top like he had been working for his whole life. He was the perfect MMC, with just the amount of possessiveness, confidence and affection. I loved that this book focused on their journey separately and together to reach a happy ending!
Tristan Reinhart is the number one Formula One racer, however, his life is about to blindside him and your heart will break for him. He feels lost and has no idea what he is going to do. He went from the happy-go-lucky guy to someone miserable. When a chance meeting with Nikki the woman who dares to walk up to him and try to put him in his place. He doesn't know what it is about her, but he knows he wants her. One night is all she will allow because she knows what it's like to be destroyed. These two have such a passion and their laughs are undeniable. What happens though when Tristan is not only fighting for a seat next year but trying to prove to Nikki that she should give him a chance? Sometimes fate has a plan for us we just need to listen.
B. Lustig got me with the first lines ! I read this book in three hours ! Everything in this book was perfect ! The relationship between Nikkie and Tristan was explosive and beautiful ! Tristan is really a sunshine and I like it for this. Tristan fell for her first and he fell hard ! He's a good guy and he wants to be there for her ! He truly loves her. I was sad for Nikkie because she thinks she doesn't deserve to be happy but it's not true. She deserves to be happy ! Their groups of friends is a great one and they make me laugh ! I want to know more about these characters ! I'm here for the next one !!
This story was so so good. If you need a light beautiful read this is the book for you. While Ive watched Formula 1 on tv Ive never read a romance about it. This book now has me on the hunt for more. Oh, and he falls first. Tristen was kind, cheerful, and just purely loveable I loved reading his point of view. Nikki was simply the girl next door. Her struggles you felt off the pages. I just wanted to hug her sometimes and tell her it was okay. Their story had twists and turns just like the tracks Tristan raced on. I truly loved reading about their journey together and as individuals. I cant wait to see what Billie brings us with this story.
Tristan Reinehart is a gorgeous ray of sunshine in the F1 world. An Aussie, he’s having a tough time with his career when he meets Nikkie on a night out. Nikkie, oh my heart melts for her as she is dealing with a whole heap of demons from her past, but still we get glimmers of her cheeky and fun personality! The chemistry is there from the get-go and Tristan is determined to win Nikkie over with his perseverance and sunny nature! Some twists, some steamy scenes 🔥and travelling the world as we follow Tristan’s races, I was hooked by the author’s writing. Capturing the mood and Nikkie’s personal growth throughout, Billie Lustig has created a romance that I know F1 racing fans will love.
I'm gonna preface this with the fact I don't know much about f1 other than what my brother has told me so I went into this book fully expecting to learn more about the sport. And I did, I learned a little something even if the teams were fictional and the events were made up. However, I read the reviews for the book first and was fully expecting the main character to be just like that real life Daniel guy and run into a wall instead of a rookie. I was a little disappointed thats not the direction it went because it seemed like that's where the story was going, with the way the lap was described. I mean, it would have made sense to go that direction- running into a wall to save someone else- because the MMC would have an out and he could be with the female lead. He said that he would do anything for her and if needed, he would leave the circuit to be with her. This could have been his moment, the big romantic gesture to get his lucky charm back but nah, we got the classic hospital confession scene. I mean it was fine but nothing I haven't seen before.
Also, I know he was just a background character but I really like Raul and his humour. It crushed me that he was killed off.
Oversteer had me from the start. The connection between Tristan and Nikki is electric and one that radiates off the pages. Tristan has been struggling with his career and this plays a big part in his attitude, however on meeting Nikki this starts to take a great effect on him. Their story is packed with emotion and will have you laughing, crying and everything in between. Their relationship is not always a smooth path and there will be a few speed bumps in the road. Their story is filled with passion and heat and will have you hanging on for the ride right to the very end.
Enjoyed this one so much! The things the Nikkie had to go through were devastating, but seeing Tristan come into her life and help her heal was so heartwarming. I loved how they met, and how Nikkie really put him in his place 🤣 seeing Tristan get his spark for racing back bc of her was sweet. He was down bad from the beginning! He was such a golden retriever mmc and his personality was so bright and goofy. He was def Danny Ric coded!!! I loved the plot and how the elements of F1 were really specific and included in the book. Excited for the next book. I ADORED Sam!!
A chance encounter brings together F1 champion Tristan and bar owner Nikkie that starts as one night of passion.
Oh, I absolutely adore Tristan 🥰 He's not been having the best time in his career, but once he meets Nikkie, he starts to feel himself again and becomes the bright ray of sunshine he's always been.
He falls hard for Nikkie and does everything to be there for her as much as he can.
Nikkie is struggling with the consequences of past choices and doesn't want to put her heart out in the open for anyone again. But she can't deny her feelings for Tristan forever.
The connection between these two is beautiful. The relationship is not easy and has many hurdles to overcome but they are soulmates who were always meant to find each other.
I'm so excited to see where this series goes, I especially want to read Sam's story 🩷
If you are a Formula 1 Fan this is definitely the book for you because it is so accurate to the scene of Formula 1 and it is also an awesome romance. There has never been a book from Billie that I did not like but this one is definitely up in my favorite, probably because it combines my love for F1 and romance novels. But also because the writing is awesome and I genuinely enjoyed the characters and their chemistry. I flew through this book and I hope we will get more in this world.
F1 romance books are some of my absolute favs and this book did not disappoint! Tristan and Nikkie’s story is a mix of finding love, finding yourself and finding happiness. Tristan will have your heart from the very beginning, he’s just such a lovable MMC. Nikkie has been through a lot and is very guarded of her heart but she can’t deny the pull towards our hot star F1 champ, Tristan ❤️ This was a super easy read and had me hooked from beginning to end! I really loved it.
