Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.
Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.
It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.
It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.
Good Read! I love the storyline and I love Xander and Camille the sex is 🔥🔥🔥. I love the dynamic of the three Xander,Ian and Camille. I think together they are powerful, I love Ian joking side too. I hope the next book is not a long wait. Would recommend love the cover
I love reverse harems but the power imbalance here is icky. The restrictions and clear favoritism are not my favorite. Camille has feelings for Ian but Xander comes first. Xander won’t allow Ian to physically be with Camille without him, or impregnate her. Ian is fine with being “on call d*ck” and has to make sure he’s not overstepping. Ehh I’m not into it. Everything has to be equal and open in a relationship like this. There has to be trust and freedom to love how you want. It just wasn’t needed for this story. I also don’t feel much chemistry with Camille and Ian outside of sex. I want Ian to be blindsided by someone and have them completely, not play the favored pet.
Otherwise I had a good time. Kenya can write a plot, honey. I just wish Xander would look to himself more instead of others. He was made to look crazy and unstable and unsure of himself so Ian became more of a necessity I guess. Xander was literally rescuing slaves! He’s gotta have some tact and heroism. It showed a bit towards the end finally but damn. I’ll just blame it on the 2nd puberty. I’d say he is my favorite so far though. I find him sweet, a little crazy, but sweet. It was interesting learning how hypnotic Camille’s blood is for him. That throne room scene was insane!
I also don’t really care for family members sharing a partner but I digress
I’m torn on this one. Overall it’s a good story, interesting, and different. I thought this was going to be the showdown with the Quiet King so I was surprised we learned more of the backstory and people’s motives. I actually liked the secrets revealed when they met with Xander’s mother I was just shocked it “ended” so quickly. Now I knew that Ethan was no good from what we saw in the first book so I wasn’t surprised. The stuff with Ian and the way things seem to going with him just aren’t my jam personally so once I got to that part I will say my enthusiasm for the story dwindled. I’m just not a fan of the that particular trope and seems to be getting more and more popular.
I’ll probably still read the next book to see what happens but I’m just not into the romance of it anymore.
Give this series a try, it’s definitely an interesting paranormal story that will keep your attention and the things that just aren’t my cup of tea you may love. 3.5 stars
This one advanced quickly, too much so in certain respects. Ian goes from Xander's uncle and historian to being in a threesome with Camille and Xander. It was too fast and seemed to come out of nowhere. We get mages and mage territory and a little of mage power but not much. The book doesn't do enough with the mages in general. Although they're being recruited to join the fight against the quiet king, there's not a lot of interaction between the vampires and mages in terms of strategy or anything else. Feuding and I'll will aside, there's strategy missing and I can't help but wonder if any plans they come up with individually will be effective. Camille also got on my nerves in this book, just angry and terrified and back to assertive so fast I couldn't understand what her problem was. More consistency and grammar issues in this book. Overall, I was mostly glad it was done.
I'm torn on how to feel about this book. Good writing but the throuple, I'm having a hard time trying to get past it. Why do writers always make a man weak for his woman??? I believe Ian should have his own wife. I'm a big fan of this author but this 3 way is a major turn off. what alpha willingly shares his mate, why is there a need for it
Babes whew the scenes stood OUT in this one 🤭 I’m interested in reading from the Quiet King’s pov on one hand but then on the other I would rather Ian, Camille and Xander again 😭 like it’s so random to have his pov tbh but we’ll see how it goes. I haven’t read a trilogy so intensely in a while because I usually give up by book 2 but something about this series keeps pulling me in. It may be Ian and his 2 … 🤣💀
I love Mrs Wrights writing and absolutely devoured the 1st book but this one fell short for me. I mean the throuple aspect came out of left field and really did not make sense at all in this story. The MC’s from the first book would never. I hope Ian gets his own queen because how it is set up now just doesn’t seem sustainable. Xander goes from ripening super fast for his need to protect and only be with Camille to being like oh it’s ok to watch another man have sex with her no, just no.
I was hoping the author would stay with the historical idea of vampire mating but no. Xander and Camille could of been a great mated pair. This story makes me desire a change from the cynical and fake. If you’re not into MWM don’t read this book. I hope Xander finds real love with another, that is my fantasy hope.
NGL, I really REALLY do not like MFM story lines. Something something possessive something something there is always a weaker one and why in the world would you not just "*#!! with the stronger one? Plus poly (with or without the love part) just always seems emotionally EXHAUSTING to me and takes me out of the storyline.
But, fantasy is fantastic and I absolutely am down with how the Ian role is playing out. What can I say, Wright is a damn good story teller. I can see the justification and the logic (magic) involved with the throuple and appreciate that at the end of the day Camille wants what Camille wants and gets what she wants. There's something nifty about that along side knowing that the love between Camille and Xander will not be messed with and is stronger than ever. So eh, what's another two toys in the bed as long as Ian knows his place 🤷🏿♀️. I guess my point is, the writing is so damn good that the Ian factor doesn't take me out of it. Honestly, the last erotica that I read where multiple partners didn't take me out of the story was the Claiming of Sleeping Beauty series. This series is a lot more more fun.
Lovely story and excited to read about Camille growing into her full power.
Well in this book many things have come to light and have been established. The mystery of Phinova and all that transpired with her was revealed as well as the quiet king’s involvement. The power of the battle bulked vampire king is merciless, scary and barely he has self control being ruled by impulses and emotions. Camille has stepped up to learn more about herself and her powers as the blood queen. Ian has to reconcile his past love, hurts and future as a restored king. The mages aren’t they appear to be and may have ulterior motives. There’s so much more that happened in this book that was eye opening, mouth dropping and emotionally charged that I do not want to giveaway. I will say this, since the other reviewers shared, I don’t really want a throuple. I want their coming together to be what it was and for Ian to have his own queen because he deserves a solo love. But I trust the author to take us on this journey and write whatever will come of them with great thought and synergy. It will all just flow. I also don’t know how much I really want to read from the quiet king’s perspective next up instead of after it’s all said and done like in a separate novella. We shall see. Awesome read!
I gave this book 3 stars because of Camille. For some reason, she got on my nerves. I found her to lack consistency, easily distracted and just….blah. I think what turned me off takes me back to book 1. Before she found anything out about Ethan, she was sleeping with Xander. In the second book, she’s calling Xander and Ian her kings. Like, girl? Get a grip! You have stuff you need to figure out. How did the story go from one extreme to the other? For Camille to claim she was loyal to Ethan and now she really lets Ian have a piece.
I’m going to also agree with a few of the other readers when it came to Ian. I wasn’t really into much about him and his 2 appendages. I found his story to be just a filler. I don’t mind MWM but Ian is Xander’s uncle. Just didn’t sit well. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting MWM.
Lastly, I “read” the book via audible. This is not the authors fault but I could not stand the voice actors. They sounded too “AI”. There were times where I cringed when they spoke. “Dear Ambi” and “ooooohhhhhh” 😖
I’ll be sure to read the next book. I hope others have a better experience than I did.
Book two started on a high note! Like the first book, Kenya Wright tells a compelling and original story. The world in which Camille & Xander fall in love is fascinating. I wish more of it were explored in this book. Because towards the back half of the story, my interest died🤣 I really didn't care for Ian's POV, and we heard more from him than Xander. I kept asking, "What are you doing here?" Then, it felt like a particular trope was thrown our way with no sense of romantic inclinations. And I was a Vampire Diaries girly. Kenya would've hooked me if we had more of those; who would she choose? One, the other, maybe both? Type of moments.
It was just Ian trying to rub his two pew pews against the first woman who reminded him of his ex. And that alone is a whole other tangent I'm not even going to get into. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Mind you, Camille & Xander were trying to work through their obsessiveness & possessiveness of one another, and suddenly Camille has two kings. I got the ick, and the romance died. And all I could think was, "Ain't this this man's uncle?" 💀
The story continues and I’m enjoying this fantasy world. The world building is still good. We pick right back up where we left off. I can’t believe Ty. I did not see the romance taking the turn it did. I feel like Camille is coming into her own. I love that they are committed to making it work. I think if we look at this story being about Camille and her being the more powerful one, then the budding relationship with Ian seems more reasonable. I also feel like the author dropped breadcrumbs in the first book and Xander kind of already knew what was up. We learn more about Ian, Nai and Phinova.
Not me just realizing that Nai is Ian spelled backwards.
A lot more misspellings and grammatical errors. A bit disappointed the series isn’t complete. You’re able to state how many books will be in the series on Amazon. Or at least put in the blurb that the series isn’t complete.
Ok ,first I must say I really didn't care for how Camille ,Xander, and Ian little Menage a trois happened.I think that Xander is too much of and alpha to truly share Camille with anyone .I think he really did it to please Camille more than anything else and I think she took advantage of his desire to please her .Ian has had to share his queen with his twin and fellow king and it turned out disastrous and putting him back into another situation like that I think would eventually end in the same way.Ian deserves his own queen and a family and I think his queen is right under his nose in maybe seraphine or leeta but not Camille . Camille wouldn't have wanted xander to be with another blood mage so why does she get to be greedy an have became and eat it too. I think once Camille comes to understand her full power with the help of the Gods and seraphine and have Ian and his queen loyal to her and cancer I think they would be unstoppable.
This was even better than the first book. I didn't know what to make of Ian & Camille connection initially but I like the three of them together. It's interesting and put a hot & unexpected twist on this. I think they should stay together & grow a deeper connection. Maybe Xander will be open to Ian having offspring with his queen eventually. I love them together. Ian introduction to this story & relationship is the most unexpected surprise I've read in any book. I really enjoyed this. Camille's oh gee golly I'll run off & not tell anyone trope is grating. Hopefully she's done with doing that. I don't want Ian to have a separate queen & I personally have no desire to read from the quiet king pov. I think the three main characters are so interesting I don't want to split their time with the other guy. I want more of Ian & Xander pov.
This was a fantastic follow up to the last one. Xander’s maturing into a king is a nice little journey we’re going on. That scene in the Quiet Kings castle though? Whoaaaa, in my head it was a cinematic blood bath. Blade level type stuff. At times I wish I had a dude this obsessed with me and then I’m like…nah that’s toxic af, but on the other hand—sometimes toxic is fun lol. I will say though, from the moment we met Ian’s decrepit self in the sewer, I instantly knew I would like him more than Xander. Don’t get me wrong, Xander has a lot of great qualities, but Ian is just so so lovable. Him going through it (SPOILER) with Phinova really broke my heart. I’m tired of him being number two. He was number two with his twin, and now number two with Xander. It’s cool and all that his nephew is semi-willing to share, but dammit Ian needs his own Queen. The throuple is cute and definitely necessary because Xander would certainly be lost without Ian. However, eventually we need him to have his own girl so he can tell her horrible jokes and not have to sneak off or restrain himself all the time. Give this man his moment Miss Wright he’s earned it!
Anyway the story was so good, I loved how Camille is slowly getting her understanding about what she is. I just really hope she doesn’t end up evil like Phinova. She’s making me a little nervous with her excitement over the power she could have. Imma need her to chill out. My only question is: if blood mages are as terrifying as they say, why didn’t that one Heart Mage that Seraphine knew go and explode the Quiet Kings heart? Done and done. Guess we wouldn’t have much of series if that were the case though.
Anywho
Lots of stuff unfolded and if the castle scene was anything to go by, this battle with the Quiet King is going to be wild. I can’t friggen wait
"Rising Royals: A Journey of Power, Discovery, and Unbreakable Bonds"
This book dives deep into the heart of character evolution. It's like we're on a personal odyssey with each character in this series installment. Xander's really stepping up, figuring out how to rock his royal role while getting his vibe right with Camille. Speaking of Camille, she's all in on her mage heritage, figuring out what it means to wield that power and stepping up as Queen like nobody's business. She's morphing into this awe-inspiring figure. And Ian? Thought he was off his rocker at first, but getting the lowdown on his backstory and watching him find himself post-brother and Phinova? Mind-blowing. Watching everyone grow solo and together, the way their stories interweave? Pure magic. I'm so hooked, I'm jumping into the third book like there's no tomorrow.
I respect that this the author’s story to tell. However, there are choices that I would didn’t sit well with me. Camille breed a lot of frustration for me. Her indignation stances just felt hypocritical and dulled my enthusiasm for her. “My thoughts are my own” as we are going into war; even though as I am dying and used the mental bond to communicate my love and wishes including saving my king from becoming a quieter king.
There were definitely times that did not want to hear her thought. “Ethan will have to explain himself.” Girl bye. “The woman I was is no more” yet plans of despicable Ethan were first thoughts of the new woman. Xander could not have wanted to taste or sleep with another woman without her fury blasting yet she can sleep with uncle while being a guest in someone else’s house in dangerous territory while planning a world.
Ok. It's certified now that I Iove this series. With this book, I'm starting to trust and enjoy Ian more so, and I like the idea of him being around more so now that I trust him. The scenes are so hot and steamy (shall we say fire), and I wasn't prepared. I had to gather myself. I can't wait to read the next book, but I'm afraid they aren't ready for the battle to come. I'm hopefully they will endure and win the war.
BTW - I believe we should let characters evolve as the writers envision them. I love what the power of the current situation could bring for all of them, including Ian. He seems to desire her more than his first queen even, but he has learned the lessons from his past. Let him love and be loved; however, what may come. I saw the potential of this at the end of book one, but let's see where it goes.

The books that K.W writes for us is nothing short of a masterpiece, her vision, her creativity, the way she has all her characters engaged in the storyline. I’m always left wanting more, not because she left me unfulfilled with the plot or the story but I simply wanted everything to keep going. I get so engrossed with her stories that I’m disappointed when I see the end. This has everything in it that draws me into an amazing adventure. Let’s not talk about the erotic scenes that I can picture myself being there watching with a bag of popcorn and a drink 🥃 because I would definitely need it. I absolutely love these first two books, now it’s on to the next saga, I can’t wait to read and find out.
I might’ve liked it better had Camille just had her own separate thing with Ian. The whole “sharing” thing with how they went about it felt rushed and unrealistic. Xander was murderous one second and then completely okay with it the next. But whatever, I’ll believe it. But that scene for their first time as a trio….disappointing. I can’t fathom why it was written from Xander’s POV. It was awkward and his commentary + inner thoughts was a turn off lol. Ultimately it was more sad than sexy, knowing Ian isn’t even an equal part of this relationship.
Stars for the world building and the uniqueness, but overall felt like a let down from the first book. Which is so disappointing because I loved Xander and Ian both in book 1 and wanted more for Ian/Camille in book 2.
I liked the differing POVs. I didn't even mind the darker parts. I do feel that some of the scenes were rushed and could have been more developed. The dialog is a bit predictable. The sex scenes are HOT! The action is good (could be better) but all in all, a nice quick read that makes you want to move on to the next one. After the initial installment I wasn't sure if I could continue but this book makes me glad that I did. I wish Ms. Wright would take some lessons from Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series on world building. I think it would make for a more well-rounded experience.
Caught between desire...immense desires.. Our Blood Queen has to tread carefully.. error on the side of caution.. but who can control their sexual desires from and being ravaged by 2 very virile and very alpha beings...one with a powerful machinery between his legs...and the other with 2 of them... wet ..wetter...overflowing.. you get the picture.. and throw in horns..fangs and tongues..the Queen may need a lady in waiting.. Could it be Leeta..or Seraphine.. hmm KW?
When i first stumbled upon this book i was hesitant to read it but once i did i fell in love with the story and the characters! As much as I understand, people wanting Ian to have his own queen, I really do love him with Xander and Camille! Yet, it is sad to see him have to restrain himself to not step over any boundaries that were set between the three of them. Now, that makes me wish he had his own queen but i can’t help but to love the bond the 3 have.
The first book was amazing, but this one was horrible. Allowing a threesome between uncle and nephew is disgusting. Camille knew what it's was like to feel disrespected, yet she disrespected Xander by allowing his uncle to touch her during sex. The admitting she was to be with both uncle and nephew. This book was just horrible. Xander did not want to share Camille, so why force it. You turned this book into some sick incest love story, which is sickening. I wish I could give it a 0
I anticipated a confrontation with the Quiet King in book two, but the narrative took an unexpected turn during the encounter with Xander's mother and their betrayal of friends. While the revelations weren't entirely surprising, Xander's subsequent actions added a layer of intrigue. I knew Queen Regina was up to something with assisting brides with escaping the Quiet King. She did not expect what would happen next. I'm intrigued by the unfolding events of what is to come and plan to continue with the series.
Never have I ever been into the throuple romances, but in this book, I was rooting for all three to be the power couple of the century. I love this story and I think Kenya is making the right decision by not rushing the battle by letting this book become a trilogy. This is a beautiful story and I can’t wait to read the next installment. Excellent work, well done, and BRAVA!!!
This second book continues to keep me hooked. Camille, Xander and Ian are trying their best to get rid of the Silent King while navigating through their own relationships and helping others. I hope the next book is about the other blood mages getting freed and being able to fight in the war and get their freedom from the earth and wood mages.
