Hurts So Good

Rate this book
Three deliciously sexy stories of sensual healers and their naughty patients....
Gail Faulkner
After years of illness, Lauren is desperate for a reprieve from her stiflingly protective family -- so she joins her best friend Carla for a weekend at her family's ranch. Although Carla warns the cool, collected Lauren about her womanizing cousin Romeo, when Lauren and Romeo first lock eyes, they feel undeniable passion for one another. Romeo knows he can have any women he desires, but now he longs only to care for this sexy little minx -- and has one short weekend to convince her to stay.
Lisa Renee Jones
Shy and cautious physical therapist Kelly Marshall is all work and no play. Determined to go to medical school and avoid becoming like her recklessly irresponsible mother, she has always repressed her wildest and most sinful desires. That is, until she meets sexy architect Mark Majors and discovers a deeply sensual side she never knew she had. And when weeks later he appears in her exam room -- needing her healing touch -- she can't help but surrender, once again, to the passion blazing between them.

Sahara Kelly
For fiery redhead Susanna Chalmers, Dylan Sinclair was the handsome muscle-bound guy in high school she could never have. But eleven years later, now a relationship therapist, Susanna sees Dylan in one of her lectures -- and he reminds her of a steamy night after senior prom when he knew he wanted to have his way with her. As a doctor, Susanna knows he isn't relationship material. But as a woman, her extremely aroused body is telling her otherwise

Gail Faulkner (forever 38) was born in a frustrated reader's mind. She adores men who know what they want and intend to get it.

One thing she is sure of is, Erotic is the new Sexy and that is excellent news. Slipping on a little black dress is fun, having it ripped off, even better. Okay, maybe we can get him to just take it off but that might be tricky.

Most of all, she loves sharing her daydreams with anyone who will read them.

This book contains the following three stories.

4.5 stars for ROMEO by Gail Faulkner.
Wild and exciting read. It was fun seeing someone so obsessed and in love in a good way with a woman he just met. He treated her so well! Some interesting lines as well. I'm looking forward to trying something else from this author. I keep thinking about this Romeo. Wow!

CAUTION SPOILER: I loved the way Romeo confessed things to her right away on the same day he did them, because he wanted to be totally honest for her.

Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: five. Setting: current day Texas ranch. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

3 stars for HURT SO GOOD by Lisa Renee Jones.
Good erotic scenes, but plot was just ok. I didn't like the way Kelly avoided the relationship.

CAUTION SPOILER: She ran away from him for what I felt was an artificial reason. She felt any relationship would conflict with her schooling and career goals so she avoided having a relationship with Mark. This was not interesting for me.

Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: five. Setting: current day Manhattan, NY. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

2 stars for SIZZLE by Sahara Kelly.
Readable but not recommended. The erotic parts were interesting but the plot and characters were not. I didn't like that she had sex with him and then left him because she "found a guy (him) who made her feel." She missed him but wouldn't initiate going back to him. That was not believable for me.

Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: about six. Setting: current day U.S. Copyright: 2003. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

Reading all 3 stories I enjoyed Gail Faulkners story best...thought it was too short. I like the characters and her writing is very visual ( I can still see Romeo walking down to the front of the house to greet his guests....very descriptive ) So you pretty much get the flavour of the novella from the begining.Carla the planner/best friend /practical joker wanting to pull one over on Romeo and Lauren the heroin...has no room in her life for a man right, vulnerable, emotional baggage, HT patient.Rpmeo, whom women flock too just to be with him...In control at all tmes...untill he meets lauren. The best of the anthology. this was worth the price of the book ( although a friend gave it to me ) The other 2 stories dodn't do anything for me...ended up skimming the rest of the book...the heroins showed no real vulnerability/career women who knew what they wanted...maybe I was looking for somthing different. I think you can buy the Romeo seperatly as an ebook..that one I would but.

The first story in the book was okay, although it was short (3 chapters). The story was not very realistic in how quickly they just fell for each other. Since it was just three chapters I guess they had to hit the ground running.
The second story was just so boring I tended to just skip pages of it. Characters are one dimensional and you don't develop any kind of connection with them.
I didn't even bother with story three since I couldn't even force myself to finish story two. Would not recommend. Save your time and money.

The last story was my favorite because the high school memories were a fun addition. All three were good with some hot, sexy scenes. A good bathtub read or fireside book!

Improbability factor quite high but some hilarious lines and scenes scattered amongst two of the three stories. The second story in the book was a bit dry.

Re-read Romeo by Gail Faulkner. Another uber dominant, over the top possessive hero you can't take for real but who is a nice diversion, especially after having read a few really bad books. B.

:-( These stories just were badly developed and not believeable. I hate to be negative ... and it's gotta be a challenge to write short fiction.

I'm just not buying the big strong independent alpha cowboy falling in love to the degree he did with just one look.

But everyone's gotta start somewhere, and perhaps these authors will continue to refine their writing.
