[her] ability to probe beneath the surface of behaviors makes this an especially valuable book for formal and informal caregivers.... Hodgson's direct and folksy writing style make for quick and easy reading.--Library Journal
I'm not reading this book straight through, cover to cover. Rather, I pick it up as needed and am using it as a guide and a resource for dealing with a dear relative who is in the middle stages of Alzheimer's disease. The book is clear, concise, and thorough. My questions are answered and it is preparing me to deal with this horrible disease, all the while treating my relative with the utmost care and concern, and honoring the dignity of her wonderful person; despite our current (and future) frustrations, her memory loss, depression, and weight loss. This book was loaned to me by our parish nurse. It is easy to understand and written in a non-medical style for ease of reading by the non-medical public. I recommend it for anyone dealing with this horrible, horrible disease.
