Pushie, Jr.

Rate this book
In Pushie, Jr., Abby, age 8, her older stepsister Bev, and her friends Shylah and Melanie are inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Maggie Q, and mainly their own good sense as they learn when to push back against bullies. A mix of humor and seriousness, pop culture and family dynamics, with a few martial lessons thrown in for good measure makes this an entertaining as well as an encouraging read for children ages 6-10. Pushie, Jr. is a picture story book, 32 pages long, written by Maud Lavin, winner of a New York Times Book Review Notable Book of the Year award, and illustrated by the witty Rachel Coulter.
