The Posse is the story of what happens after the big finale of a reality TV competition and of a small town girl's ride through Hollywood.
When seventeen-year old Jacey Chandliss enters and wins Generation Next: America’s Top Young Actress, an American Idol-type contest that offers the winner a star-making role in a major Hollywood motion picture, she’s thrust into the bright Hollywood spotlight. She’s got a bonafide Hollywood power-agent and she’s living in L.A. for the summer. It’s all a lot to handle, and Jacey would probably buckle under the pressure if she didn’t have her friends along for the ride. Her best friends Dash and Desi and her cousin Ivy are part of Jacey’s Posse. They’re going to Hollywood with Jacey to keep Jacey from going Hollywood.

Imagine the entire nation turning on the television to watch you battle it out to become the next biggest actress. Now imagine actually winning the challenge and having your entire world change from ordinary to extraordinary. That is exactly what happens to Jacey Chandliss when she wins Generation Next: America's Top Young Actress.
Of course, being noticed by everyone you meet and becoming America's sweetheart can be tough, but everything cancels out, especially when you are now living the large life. But when your life changes everything else does, too. Jacey will never get her privacy back, her relationship with her boyfriend could be in big trouble, and being in a world full of competition can be a little hard to handle.
Good thing Jacey has her friends Dash, Desi, and Ivy, otherwise known as her posse, to keep her company, to help her from going insane, and to keep her from making the wrong decisions. But when you're a celebrity, the spotlight is all about the bad decisions and mistakes you make.
Randi Reisfeld goes from teen nannies to teen witches and now teen starlets. STARLET gives us another view on how crazy your life can get when you reach super-stardom and all the problems you will have to face. Jacey is just another sweetheart that we will all fall in love with, both the people in the story and the ones reading it. Even though some may dream of becoming the It Girl, this story might make you think twice. STARLET is just the first in the series. Reading the first book was the easy part; waiting for the next book in the series is the hardest.
**MD I'm completely addicted to books like these: about young, insta-starlets in Hollywood. It must be my favorite genre. And since I've read so many of these, I must say that this one didn't blow me away. Sure, it was entertaining, but Jacey is just not a likable character. In the summary it says that her friends came with her to Hollywood to keep her from going Hollywood, but she certainly went Hollywood alright. The worst thing is that she never realizes it. I didn't much like her friends, either. The only characters I actually liked were her love interests, Matt Canseco and Logan. This book didn't quite impress me, and I don't plan on reading the rest of the trilogy.
Excellent use of pop culture references: a new Hollywood actress is the only acceptable context in which to name-drop like mad. That said, not interested in additional installments. I just want the mystery blogger revealed now, otherwise I'm bored and ready to move on.
This book is a great book for young teenage girls who want to be a celebrity or famous when they grow up.
This book is about a girl name Jacey who was an ordinary high school student. Then, she decided to compete in a competition called Generation Next: America's Top Young Actress. She was the winner of the contest and got a role for an upcoming movie. The movie was a box office hit and Jacey became the new IT girl of Hollywood.Jacey left school two months before her prom and graduation for the premiere of her new movie. Along with Jacey, Desi, Dash and Ivy went to Hollywood too.
When she became famous and rich she realized in order to have these things, she had to make many sacrifices. Some sacrifices she had to make were listen to her publicist, agent, stylist, and others, and have no freedom. As an actress she had no time for her friends, family or boyfriend. Her relationship with her boyfriend, Logan was falling apart and she started liking an Actor, Matt. Even though she liked Matt she couldn't do anything about it, because her agent told her that Matt wasn't good enough for her.
Jacey reveals the life of a celebrity and shows that it's not all about fun and money, it's more about losing and sacrificing.
