Worth Waiting For

Rate this book
This is a sweet/clean romance.

Julia Newman doesn’t have time for love. Been there, done that, and she’s got the scars to prove it. Instead, she’s focused on her career. For the past few years, she has been living the life she wants. She drives a silver Mercedes, just purchased a four bedroom house in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, and she’s on her way to becoming the youngest female partner in the history of the venture capitalist firm where she works. Life couldn’t be better. Or so she thought.

Frederico “Freddie” Mendoza is the owner of Mendoza Construction. He hasn’t given up on love, but he is fed up with women who are fascinated by the fantasy of being with a blue collar man and then relegate him to a certain part of their lives. His newest customer, Julia Newman, is the kind of woman he’s decided he’ll avoid from now on. He needs to work on expanding his business. Besides, she’s not his type. Or so he thought.

3 Platypires for Worth Waiting for by Delaney Diamond

I haven't read a "clean romance" in a long time. They tend not to be my cup of tea. I guess I misunderstood sweet romance for meaning clean romance. Now that being said, a clean romance can still have some type of drama. Worth Waiting For was missing the fire that moved the story along.
I really did like that this was a multicultural romance featuring a black woman and a Puerto Rican man. I was pretty excited to read their love story but it all felt very mature. They talked a lot about their feeling and what they wanted. The story is really short so the instant-love was bound to happen but I just didn't feel it was natural. They had the attraction towards each other and then they were in love.
Overall this was a nice read and I think I just wanted more. I would recommend it for those looking for a clean read.

I highly enjoyed this book. It starts out as just another day in the heroine's life; she needs a contractor to renovate her basement and a sexy Freddie shows up on her doorstep. I've always wondered if that actually happens in real life, hehe. Julia's last relationship has left a sour taste in her mouth about love and Freddie knows his blue collar status isn't enough for a career woman, but that doesn't stop the sparks from flying between the two love-starved protagonists. Great pacing, good dialogue and the first kiss... Oh, my goodness. That is one of the BEST first kisses I've ever read. The sexual tension leading up to the kiss makes for an explosive encounter in the kitchen. Ah, so good. I read that part over and over. The rest of the story is fantastic too, lol. You'll cheer for Freddie as he chips at Julia's armor piece by piece. A good, clean (yet deliciously descriptive--real writing talent) read. Very well done, Ms. Diamond, and I look forward to reading more of your stories.

First read Octobber, 2012 = two stars.
Reread, an extreme rarity for me, Defember 2015 = three stars.

I liked this story. Loved Freddie. Enjoyed the real intimacy and sexual tension Diamond creates so well. Hated the fade to black. Come on!

NO SEX! It was a cute story. Very Short. I felt like the story was like a chapter out of a book. The whole story was basically about starting a relationship.

Waiting is sweet

I was fully entertained with this short love encounter and subsequent healing. This book could be a part of the "Latin Men" series. The author seems to amaze me no matter what she writes. She created a couple and I was involved from the beginning from reading their baggage from previous relationships. Their mutual attraction bringing the best to the surface. Short movie! Are there more "Bailar" books somewhere? Más por favor!,

Fun, Great Read!

Very nice, passionate and sexy story. It was great to see Julia with all of her accomplishments, let her hair down and enjoy some fun with a wonderful man. Freddie proved to be gentle, caring, protective and sexy as sin! Great read!

Lovely short and sweet read! I read the entire book in under an hour. The ending was perfect but too soon. I was hoping the pages on my ebook were misnumbered because I wanted more of Freddie and Julia!❤️

Nice and short

It was a cute story. It felt more honest and realistic than some books I have read in the past. It got to the point in a nice loving and supportive way.

This is a tale of the "Bitter Black Woman" who was screwed over by "Doggish Black Male" who is redeemed by the love of a good man. I liked this story and would like to give it a 4.5 in stars. A quick synopsis is that Julia has been cheated on by a long term fiancé . She wants to give her father, who has recently moved in with her, a space of his own in her home and hires Freddy to build the rooms. Freddy also has romance baggage, but has rebounded far better than Julia. After flirting and dancing, Julia agrees to go home with Freddy. After an accidental encounter with her ex-fiancé, she and runs from Freddy. She then has to beg, which she does, and gets another chance.
I love to laugh and Ms. Diamond offered some humorous conversations in this story. Julia's father, Randolph, has no qualms discussing sex and his sex life in particular. That freaks Julia out. He also keeps calling Freddy Mexican instead of Puerto Rican. I also found the conversations and remarks realistic. Julia and Freddy almost get caught making out by Randolph. Another funny scene is Julia falling on her butt while helping Freddy with his truck. This starts the unwrapping of her tightly buttoned up character.
I also like how the reader goes on the journey of Julia changing from "no fun" to a person to a relaxed woman in love. The author takes the time to show this progression.
To be honest, I love the smut, sex, erotica, porn, love scenes-what ever you want to call it. But I must say, this clean story worked for me also.
One of the areas I wanted more of was Atlanta. The city was missing. This story could have been set in many areas of the United States. What makes Atlanta so important to the story? I think the story could have worked without any particular city being named.
I look at everything when I read a book, including the cover. Is this the skyline of Atlanta? The picture of the people looks like somewhat of a match for the characters.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I would give this book 1 and ½ stars if I could because it is really not a terrible book. Trite? Maybe. Cliche? Probably. But not awful. First off, in the author's defense, this is a simple short book intended to be an easy romantic read so I'm not going to complain about the length of the book or lack of details. My issue is that the writer never convinces me to care about the main characters. I didn't care if they got together, didn't care about their pasts, I didn't care if an asteroid descended from heaven and destroyed them both. In fact the latter would have probably made for a better ending! The plot is simple and contrived enough, Julie has trouble trusting men because of a previously painful relationship, while Freddie is tired of women taking advantage of him but never taking him seriously because of his occupation. Ok. We can work with that. But the issue is that this is supposed to be a love story and their aint no love in this book! She's hot and likes his body, he's hot and like hers. They practically screw each other on their first date and then again on their second date and from that we are supposed to believe that they are in love and that they should be together indefinitely. Give me a break. The author has potential, but lacks the subtlety and delicacy necessary to write a real love story so instead she plays down the sex and produces a PG-13 version of her usually risqué material. Yawn.

It took me a little while to decide whether or not this was one I would enjoy because at first Julia got on my nerves. She seemed very wrapped up in herself and making money but I felt it was all a front to keep her from getting hurt again. Freddie couldn't be more opposite from Julia in appearance, occupation, or personality. Yet somehow they both found themselves attracted to each other. Would Julia be able to get over her issues and start a new relationship or would her fear that the past is doomed to repeat itself hold her back? I think this is a nice light read and one that anyone would enjoy reading!

I received this book free of charge from Astraea Press in exchange for my honest review.

This was a sweet quickie. The story was good, and kept me interested, and Julia and Freddie had some powerful chemisty. This is a "sweet romance" so there are no love scenes in this one, so please don't be disappointed when it is finished and they are missing from the story. I did like the relationship between Julia and her dad, but wish there was some type of conclusion with the building of his apartment since that was a huge chunk of the story. It would have been nice to read about his reaction to it. Overall I think the author is talented, and if your looking for a fast quick read this one is for you.

Freddie and Julia

All past relationships have baggage. It's what we choose to carry into our future that ensures we are not handicapped by our past. Julia and Freddie had a road to cross. Both having had to deal with past hurts in their own special way. One thing you come to appreciate is Freddie's pretentious and patience. He is a hardworking caring man that worked through and went Julia. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. Julia humbled herself and went after what she wanted, Freddie.

Wow, this author definitely used emotions to show the love and connection here. I liked that the heroine and hero was weary of love, who could blame them after what they had gone through before.

A very satisfying read and I could squeal like a school girl, she didn't use or needed raunchy dialog to show the emotions of these two. they weren't perfect but who in life is.

Thank you Miss Diamond

3.75 stars, Frederico and Julia had an interesting and enjoyable start to their relationship; just not enough about Frederico. Frederico Mendoza owns a construction and is not adverse to being in a loving relationship just not with Julia because he does not see himself with a black woman who looks down on blue collar workers. Julia Newman is an up scale venture capitalist on her way to a partnership with the firm she works for.

A Very Sweet Interracial Romance

Worth Waiting For is a very sweet interracial romance that earned a four star rating. I found this book to be humorous and sensitive as the couple discover their preconceived notions about each other was different from what they thought as they began to know each other. I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to friends and anyone who wants to read a good romantic novel.

I really enjoyed this nice, clean read. I'm looking forward to reading this series. Delaney Diamond did not disappoint in this romantic tale. The character development was present, the right amount of conflict(internal and external), and just enough steam in the love scene that allowed the reader to use their imagination. I have read her steamier reads and she does the same thing in each one: tells the story. Great job Delaney Diamond!

Loving

I love to see a strong attraction spark at first sight. Freddie and Julia both had relationship issues that made it difficult for them to move on. Freddie didn't want to be considered as less of a man because he wasn't wearing ties to work and Julia had let a jackass destroy her self-esteem

3.5 short and sweet. It's so good to read a romance where the hero is a hardworking bloke who works with his hands and is not a billionaire.
