Another brilliantly and agonizing written cliff-hanger ending by Kailin Gow.
Book after book, series after series, Gow creates cautionary tales with themes as old as time, yet still written with a new twist. Gow's universe is so beautifully written, highly descriptive and seamlessly woven into her stories that the foreign, altered or flawed existence is not only believable but highly plausible. She populates these worlds with intelligent, complex heroines. Strong young women, as normal as any modern young woman, worried about scoring well on the SAT's, earning the trust of parents while struggling with a desire for independence, dealing with unfamiliar desires for the affection of another and the sometimes unpopular (and unfortunately realistic) concept of having the confidence to stand up for herself and others, to understand that love is not sex and that valuing one's self and beliefs is where we find our true strength.
