I am giving this book 2 stars even though I could not finish it. The story wasn't terribly bad, I just could not get into it. At 36% I called it quits. I'd rather read something else than continue on with this story.

This story was intense - captured my attention from page one. It dared to make me care and cry. Once I get done wiping the tears and locking up all shotguns in my school...I'll give you a detailed review!!!

I have mixed feelings about this book. It disappointed me a little. It didn't live up to my expectations.
The beginning was rather boring and the writing was confusing and it often seemed like something was missing, like words or even sentences had been forgotten. I couldn't get the meaning of some things. And I didn't like either of the characters. Then it get slightly better towards the middle of the book and I was totally hooked by then. I liked how Amy and Jamie's relationship grew and got deeper and they got closer.
It wasn't a great book, but I sure wanted to know what would happen next and how it would end.
And about the ending... it was somehow expected I guess, though I wasn't completely satisfied... It didn't answer a few questions: Did they both go to Heaven? Or did they get to have another chance at a new life? Or did she go to Heaven but he did not? Or maybe they both stayed in Purgatory, waiting to get to Heaven one day?

Aside from multiple punctuation errors, I thought this was a wonderful book. I found it very moving and thought-provoking, particularly in light of the recent senseless movie theater shootings. I loved the message of forgiveness and of accepting responsibility. As a Christian, I also appreciated the way this story addresses God and how we can have faith and still have questions without making the story overly preachy. Also, having personally lost a friend to murder, this perspective gives me hope of redemption for the troubled souls who inflict such pain on others. Definitely worth the read.
