The Day I Had to Play with My Sister (My First I Can Read - Level Pre1

Rate this book
Older brother thinks he knows the rules to hide-and-seek. But little sister has her own idea of how to play. And the resulting confusion, compounded by a lively dog, is hilarious. Now available for the first time in full-color and reformatted as a My First I Can Read Book, Crosby Bonsall's appealing story and simple text will delight emergent readers. "An excellent addition to the very early reading shelves."

I loved the overall concept and plot of the story, however the ending was a let down. However, I would recommend this book to children!

This book had such a rude ending. It certainly wasn't a message that I wanted my kids to walk away with.

Both the big brother and the little sister are experts at playing hide-and-seek. Only catch? Both believe in a different set of rules.

In this super-easy First Reader, a small number of words must stretch a very long way.

Fortunately, who among us hasn't played a game as frustrating as the one recounted -- and illustrated -- in this book.

Possibly the best thing about this excellent book is the title: Savor its FIVE STAR charm, Goodreaders.

It's a cute short novel about a brother and little sister. He is showing her how to play hide and seek but get frustrated because she is not quiet understanding the concept. I know we all can relate with siblings. It's a cute short story to read to kids who are in kindergarten. This book is consider "my first" book so its for beginners. I enjoyed it , wish it had a better ending.

The art is better than the story and the title is completely off. He didn't have to play with her, he invited her to play.

This book is probably best for beginning readers reading to themselves. It doesn't lend itself so good to reading aloud. It's not always clear what's going on and the brother's frustration isn't constructive. It might be a good reflection of some older brother/younger sister relationships, but the story doesn't really have a plot or moral to it. Just an okay story.

This is the worst children's book I have ever read. It's confusing and ultimately has a terrible and cruel message. I was literally speechless when I got to the end and refused to read it out loud. It's a library book but I am sorely tempted to destroy it and buy them something better.

My six year old picked it out at school.

This book is good for an easy reader for your child but has no story line. Siblings play a couple games of hide and seek. The book ends with the line, " I don't want to play with you anymore".

Fun book that kids who have siblings can relate to. Sisters get in a fight but are forced to play with each other. On recommended book list

A hide and seek game that feels negative in the end, even with the Bomsall humor. Treat with kid gloves.
