Rate this book
The True Mate Wolf series, Book 2

Alpha female Serena Goldwolf has spent a lifetime vowing never to be a submissive mate to any Alpha male. Damien Blackwolf doesn’t understand why the voluptuous Serena won’t admit they’re True Mates. To convince her, he decides to bring out her baser desires by dragging her off to someplace private to get to know her…intimately. But how can he convince her of their destiny when she runs away from him?

Guess he’ll just have to hunt her down and persuade her.In a passionate battle of wills, there most definitely can be two winners.

Hi. I’m Francesca Hawley and I’m a fat chick. A woman with dangerous curves just like my heroines. Many people don’t like the word, “fat” but I do because it’s the truth and I’ve learned to own it. I am a fat chick and I always will be.

When I began writing, I wanted to create a fat heroine who loved herself—or at least learned to love herself—and a hot alpha hero who liked her jiggly bits just the way they were. Since I didn’t find many big girls to read about, I decided to write about them myself. After all, I loved to write and had been writing almost as long as I’d been reading, so Francesca Hawley – author of "Romance with Dangerous Curves" was born.

In a Francesca Hawley romance, my readers will find authentic, sensual, fat heroines who love and are loved by their intense, passionate, and seductive Alpha heroes. I hope you enjoy their dangerous curves just as much as their hunky heroes do.

Ok, if I had to choose one word to sum up my feelings on this book it would have to be ‘weird’. I had to keep reminding myself that this was a ShapeShifter world and not a human world. For instance, in a human world, a man grabbing and lifting a woman to pin her to the wall and grind against her (after he ripped her panties off) would be cause for major alarm and possibly a call to security. Yet, when you’re a wolf ShapeShifter, it’s the norm and good old office shenanigans. As is carrying a woman down the hall over your shoulder with your fingers in…uh…inappropriate locations. I’ve read plenty of paranormal romances and enjoy the genre very much. The interpretation of the wolf world was just a bit too overbearing for me in this one. The sex scenes were pretty hot, but full of words I’d rather not read in sex scenes such as: bitch, mount, and the ‘C’ word. Worst of all, the ‘C’ word was followed quite often by the word, ‘juices’. That right there did not turn me on, but turned my stomach. I had a hard time with every woman being referred to as a ‘bitch’ so nonchalantly. I know, I know, a ShapeShifter world and not a human world. Overall, the concept of an Alpha, strong-minded, and strong-willed woman who does not want to lose herself by falling for an Alpha male is a great one. In fact, it’s one I can relate to. I also enjoyed the fact that the heroine was a curvy woman instead of a stick figure. It really was a fun read, but as I stated earlier, just plain weird.
There is a part in the story where the heroine is begging the hero to ‘mount’ her right there on the floor of his office (after only knowing him for about an hour) and I couldn’t help but think of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEiGbX...

Awesome story! I absolutely love this story which is saying a lot as I'm not fond of alpha chicks at all. Serena is perfect for Damian. Hawley did a fabulous job of complementing both personalities! The sex is out of this world. Perfect drama, storyline, scene and character development also.

74 pages of perfection!

Loved the dating service for shapeshifters.
Hated the elevator finger service.
Loved the True Mates idea - very shifter-esque.
Hated the brevity of the story.
Loved the Alpha characters of Serena and Damien.
Hated the story conflict as a result of lack of communication.

Was pretty damn hot.
Totally what happens when an alpha wolf meets another and sparks fly.
I enjoyed the slightly voyeur sex scenes, the OTT alpha and the breeding (duh)
Also liked the concept of true mates.
Safe read

.... Reaaaally?
All along the 70 pages of this book, I count the word 'bitch' !
26 ! What the hell !?
It's not dirty talk, it's awful! even Her dad and her mother say it ! Tsss

really, the word is used like it's a loveword ! bitch this, bitch that, say your my bitch (yeurk!)
It's not a loveword !

Normally I would have rated it 1 or 0 star but, the sex scenes was hot (without the awful talk) and, come on, if there wasn't this kind of Macho-asshole play/talk, the book would be a good one(I like the fact that the girl is an Alpha too!!)
So 2 stars!

(But I have a quote that I was laughing at ^^ :
a large male hand was holding her breast as if it were a life preserver and they were on the Titanic. )

As reviewed on Read Our Lips:

A hot, steamy, quick read filled with shifters, smut and fluff.
Serena, Alpha female bumps head with the Alpha male Damien and gets more than she bargained for. Loved that we had both Alpha male and female and that she wasn´t a pushover.

Cheesy read, No plot - no real storyline. Grammatical errors, misspelled words.
Less than 70 page ebook - not even worth reading as an erotica because the 'love' scenes were bland, & repetitive.

Serena is an accomplished, independent alpha in her own right. She shudders at the thought of letting a man dictate to her, which is part of the reason she's surrounded herself with betas and omegas, both in business and in the bedroom. After a scarring experience earlier in her young life, Serena harbors deep insecurities, the likes of which have shaped the woman she is today. She likes control too much to give it up to anyone, but she underestimated the power of a True Mate's need to submit. Especially to a conceited, arrogant Alpha who's intent on owning her.

Damien is Alpha with a capital “A” and he's looking to Mate with one woman forever. In order to narrow down his search he employs a matchmaking agency, never thinking that the company's owner would be his True Mate. Claiming her should be easy enough since she's in heat, but the infuriating vixen is determined to make him work for her submission and admission to what he knew to be true since he laid eyes on her. Damien knows it's a "now or never situation" with Serena's heat condition, but he wants forever and will use any means necessary to get it.

Serena and Damien are the epitome of Alpha characters. Both are shrewd in business, but when it comes to matters of the heart they show their vulnerabilities. Serena is also very insecure about being voluptuous. The push and pull of their relationship is evenly paced throughout the story and makes this quick read that much faster, as the does the intense and arousing sex scenes found throughout. There is a slight scene of public exhibitionism that doesn't go all the way, but it's enough to make you think they just might have if not for an interruption.

My only complaint is with the ending -- I think that needed to be extended. Other interesting secondary characters both good and bad make appearances that lead me to believe there is still much to explore in this erotic world of shape-shifters and I look forward to a sequel.

I loved it and will definitely be back for more from this talented author!

Serena Goldwolf runs a successful matchmaking service for shifters. She is an alpha, answerable only to her father, the pack leader. When an irate alpha wolf comes into her office to complain about his match, Serena goes toe to toe with him. Damien Blackwolf is used to getting his way. As an alpha and pack leader, few dare to challenge him and he likes it that way. However, when it comes to picking a Mate, he wants a woman that won’t be so easily cowed but is willing to be submissive in the bedroom. Not many people can stand up to him when he is angry, displaying full alpha male tendencies. But when Serena steps right up to him and challenges him, he decides that he wants her.

I enjoyed watching Serena and Damien face off with each other. They are both alphas and as such neither of them are willing to back down. But while Serena doesn’t want to submit to a Mate for the long term, she finds herself wanting to submit to Damien in the bedroom (or office, just wherever they are). I wish there was a longer ‘mating dance’ for the couple. Within minutes of meeting Damien is carrying Serena off. Because of this, there is a communication breakdown in what they each want in a relationship which causes Serena to get scared and run.

Overall the conflict was minimal and only took about half a page to clear up but I still enjoyed this novella. It was very hot with a sexy shifter that likes his women to have curves and a woman that doesn’t back down and isn’t afraid to tell a man what she wants. I have enjoyed the other books by this author that are set in this world. Hawley did set up another book at the end of this one so I am going to be on the lookout for that one.

Review by Robin:

Take a dating service, and angry werewolf, who happens to be an Alpha and the co-owner of the dating service who is also Alpha and you get combustion.

Serena Goldwolf is part owner of Predator-Match.com. Started this dating service; hoping to provide shape shifters with the help in finding their perfect mate. Serena is not in the market for a mate. She likes her independence and the fact that she is an Alpha and is not going to bow down to any male. That is until…

Damien Blackwolf walks into the offices. Damien is not a happy client of her dating service walks in and things change. He was set up with a stalking psycho bitch.

Causing a scene Damien is yelling in the reception area, hearing the commotion in the outer office Serena walks out to settle the issue when she finds probably one of the hottest males on the planet. As things start to heat up he almost takes her there in the office with a crowd. Not realizing she is in heat, she would have let him.

The chemistry between Damien and Serena is so intense you can feel it coming off the pages. Things heat up so much he takes her upstairs to his law offices to prove to her that she is his mate. Still not wanting to give up her independence, she keeps fighting him. No release in sight she finally gives in and they bind themselves to each other.

Running scared Serena heads for her families compound. She needs to talk to her mother. Where she finds out that thinking her mother was submissive all these years just wasn’t the case. Serena finds that she can still be a very strong yet independent woman and have Damien too.

This is a wonderful short story that makes you want more.

This was moderately hot for me. I dunno, guess that I was already expecting what may happen after all, what will Damien do, you know the 'wolf-shifter Alpha thingy' with the way Damien dominates Serena like how sexual things go with the dogs(HELLO!! the mounting) when in heat or mating. I'm sorry but I feel that the sexual tension is lacking and I got a little perplexed with Serena, you know at first she was like "grr Damien is mine (right NOW), you can have him later"(because Damien is incredibly HOT like a sculpted god) even though she knows that Damien is not 'the usual type' of guy that she goes after(she always go for the Beta males ONLY, not the Alpha ones so that she can easily 'dump' the guy she's 'mating' with) and then after mating and going to the middle up to the end of the story she suddenly became uncertain and afraid that Damien will 'dump' her because it was just a 'mating thingy' and then she ran away....okay you have to read it to know the rest of it :D, there's a story behind why Serena is like that. The last part made me 'aww' that got me rating this 3.5 stars.

I read this for my goal to review all my old books. My tastes have clearly changed because I find the fact I enjoyed this years ago baffling. I actually feel quite mean judging it by my current standards.
I enjoy reading smut so I have no problem with spice in books. But this book is basically porn. Serena and Damien basically initiate public sex upon their first meeting. It also includes points that I don't enjoy reading like being in heat, bullying omegas, and being locked in. I hate heat because there's always a mention of her being raped because heat is attractive. I don't understand how they're meant to be in love at the end? And how she's meant to have pregnancy symptoms 24 hours after having sex?
I just didn't enjoy it, and am genuinely confused as to how I used to. I basically cringed at the entire book.

Alpha Serena Goldwolf doesn't have any plans to be a submissive mate to anyone, when Alpha Damien Blackwolf storms into Predator-Match.com demanding to talk to one of the owners. While the other Omega's are cowering at his bellowing demands, Serena tries to put him in his place. Quickly realizing she has made a mistake, Damien lays claim on her and lets her know she is his true mate. Damien has his work cut out, but by the end of the day he plans to having her begging for him and accepting his claim.

Not really a lot of story just two people coming together... Mostly sex in the book. Author didn't try to do more than that... The story hinted it wanted to do more with the Quinn character but never did.

Omg. Have you ever read a book you were actually so ashamed to have read that you almost didn't add it to your GR? This is the first time that's happened to me.

Firstly: the cover is complete crass.
Secondly: the extensive use of the B word in reference to female werewolves was such a turnoff.
Thirdly: the h's relationship issues stem from horrible parents who failed to reach her full werewolf daughter about true mates or whatever.
Fourthly: ... Actually I don't care enough to keep listing my problems with this book.

3.5 stars :)
Enjoyed this book a lot and really liked the characters but at times I didnt really believe that Serena (while still definitely awesome) was actually an alpha. A lot of the time I felt like she was submitting a lot and never really standing up for herself around Damien (who was also awesome and very delicious lol). Overall it was a good book, I just wish the heroine had been a little tougher and more dominant and just more of what an alpha should be :)

A nice read, sweet and hot. Very likeable and appealing hero and heroine, good supporting characters too. Features wolf shifters.

Just finished reading this a second time. It's a wickedly fun story, and the sexual tension sizzles between curvy heroine Serena and muscular hero Damien, both alpha werewolves. And I *loved* Hawley's concept of the shapeshifter dating website...can't wait to read her next book in the series.

ISSUE:
She realized in consternation that he still held her black silk panties in his right hand. He lifted them to his nose, inhaled and licked his lips.
This is not a thing right? I mean...this just doesn't ring my bell and actually make me cringe.

I liked it as a werewolf story. I'm pretty sure I've read books in this series before. It didn't get an A because it was too short and the conflict was too easily taken care of.
