About the author

William Hodding Carter II (February 3, 1907 – April 4, 1972), was a Southern U.S. progressive journalist and author. Among other distinctions in his career, Carter was a Nieman Fellow and Pulitzer Prize winner. He died in Greenville, Mississippi, of a heart attack at the age of sixty-five.

The book was kinda confusing because keep bringing in other people changing plot from place to place and then I might not have paid close attention but its a good book I learn new things about WW 2 the new respect have for the people who gives us our freedom. felt like reading a top secret book revealing our commandos in the war.

This classic account for young people does an excellent job of introducing one of the first true special forces, the British Commandos of WWII. Carter provides organization, strategic, operational, and tactical perspectives with engaging style.
