Tink and Terence!
"Terence leaned in and pretended to examine the compass. He didn't really care about it, though. He just wanted to be close to Tink."
***
"Terence liked Tink. He admired her dimples and her springy blond ponytail. He marveled at her talent for fixing pots and pans. In fact, he thought it was the best talent next to fairy dust. He loved Tink's smile, but he didn't mind when she frowned. Frowns were part of Tink, too. Above all, Terence liked that Tink was always herself. There was no other fairy like her."
***
"And he has a nice smile. His smile sparkles
With a start, Tink realized that she wasn't thinking about the compass. She was thinking about Terance. Tink opened her eyes. She was looking right at him.
Terence smiled."

Really good! The little cameo of Peter and the Lost Boys was a treat! As always, I loved the art so much!! This book had great life lessons on loving your friends, remembering your words and actions do have an impact, and asking for forgiveness doesn't need to be done with some big gesture, you just have to mean it :)

It has been a few years since I have read one of the Disney Fairies early chapter books, which my daughter really enjoys, and I found that I delighted to read Tink, North of Never Land. I thought that it was a nice touch to included Peter Pan and the Lost Boys in this story. After all, we were introduced to Tinker Bell in the first Peter Pan movie by Walt Disney way back in 1953. Thus, kids have loved Tinker Bell now for almost 60 years.

This book is all about how Tink has made a mistake by taking her anger out on her best friend. She then loses him as a friend and she feels that she must do something special to earn back his friendship. Since fairies never apologize, she decides to go on a long journey north and try to find the last of the pixie dust from a tree that died out many years ago. She will give Terence some of this pixie dust as a present with the hope that he will want to be her friend again. All of this could have been avoided if she had only tried to speak with Terence before she left. I'm sure he would have been happy to be her best friend again, because he was missing Tink's friendship also.

Tink, North of Never Land teaches children that if they do lash out when something goes wrong, that they need to go talk with the friend they hurt and work things out. An apology is sometimes all that is needed. If you keep something like this inside and don't talk about it, the situation will only get worse.

I really enjoyed this story by Kiki Thorpe and found the addition of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys to be a treasure. The artwork by Judith Holmes Clark, Adrienne Brown & Charles Pickens is absolutely perfect. The artwork in these early chapter books are something Walt Disney himself would approve of.

Overall, Tink, North of Never Land is another excellent Disney Fairies book filled with misunderstandings and adventure. If your daughter is having a tough time getting into early chapter books, maybe you should try one of these Disney Fairies books. I know that my daughter absolutely loves them.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.

You know, I feel like this was a starting point for the movie Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure. There are many similarities.

One, the story is centered around Tinkerbell and Terence. It even goes as far to mention that they appreciate one another. Terence likes Tink's dimples and her blonde hair. Tink likes his smile (or something like that) and how sweet he is. She then realized she was staring at him and looked away. Am I the only one who sees some sort of romance here? I ship Tinkerbell x Terence either way, though.

Second, a fairy friend finds a compass and reluctantly lets Tink have it. Tink and Terence then take it to her house where, after shrinking it a smidge (which I didn't even know fairies could do xD), Terrence pushes it through the door. Which then causes it to break a special silver bowl of Tink's. Which then causes Tink to explode and tell Terrence to go away forever. Similarity to the movie here as well, except no scepter for the blue moon.

Third, after a few times of seeing Terence with other fairies since he was trying to do what she said, Tink soon finds herself jealous. She later goes to a theater (and finds herself jealous of Rosetta) and listens to a story from a story-telling fairy. Although it's not the same one from the movie, it was a starting point for Tink to find a gift for Terence and become friends again.

The huge differences from here on is that she eventually bumps into Peter Pan, her old friend, and the Lost Boys as well as not finding the treasure nor having Terence show up in the end. Overall, seems similar to the movie. I don't know why I examined the book I own and compared it to the movie, but it was really fun. :P

I wonder if the other books have anything similar as well...? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

As sweet as all of the others. I like this series a lot.

My only issue with this series is that male fairies are called "sparrow men" instead of fairies.

Tink North of Never Land by Kiki Thorp was one of my favorite reads as a child and reading it again as an adult was no disappointment. The beloved character Tinker bell Goes on a quest to find magical pixie dust for one of her best friends, and through her conquest she learns about the true meaning of friendship. This story is a perfect book for a young child just started in cheater books, and it teaches valuable lessons about friendship and kindness while all being about one of the worlds most famous ferries. I think this book is a great starter book as it uses very simple language but also has good figurative language that makes it interesting to read. Overall, I believe this to be a great first book given to a young girl in looking to start chapter book reading.

3.5 stars. This seems to be the inspiration for the movie Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure, though there are only a few similarities—Tink traveling in a balloon to find a legendary treasure, and her friend Terrence being in the story. Everything else is different. Both plots work, and the movie, by necessity of being a movie, has higher and more dramatic stakes.

Here, Tink gets annoyed at a friend, says something she doesn’t mean, and when he distances himself from her, taking her at her word, she goes on a quest to find a gift to apologize. I thought it was solid. No complaints, but it wasn’t a standout either.

The world of this series is that each fairy is born from a baby’s first laugh with a specific talent that becomes their passion, their vocation (though there’s no economy, no one gets paid or pays for anything), their whole identity. Tinkerbell is a tinker fairy, so she fixes pots and pans—this expands to anything metal as the series progresses. There are animal talent fairies who care for and talk to animals, garden talent fairies, water talent fairies, baking talent fairies.

The main character’s talent is always interesting and fleshed out. But then there are all these other fairies in the world doing all the mundane stuff. In this book there’s a scrap-metal fairy, who just finds and recycles metal by melting it down. That is her calling, her whole life, who she is. There are serving talent fairies in other books, whose purpose in life is to carry food from kitchen to table, apparently. The menus are all set, so there’s no taking orders or handing out menus, and they don’t do it to get paid, they have no other interests or hobbies, or families or spouses.

I’m in danger of over-thinking this, but I just find it amusing when the author makes up a new fairy talent for any task that needs to be dealt with for the plot to progress.

🧚‍♀️Tink, North of Never Land🧚‍♀️

A cute story and a very good lesson about frienship, fighting and apologies, but I had a couple complaints.

It was strange that Terrance was the only boy fairy. At least, I felt like it was strange. There was a weird sexual tension kind of happening, where it was like Terrance had feelings for Tink . Then when he couldn't be her friend anymore, he was spending time with all of Tink's female friends which in turn made her jealous. If he had hung out with at least one boy fairy it would have felt less of a romantic issue and more of a platonic one. Idk, maybe that's my adult mind effecting how I read the story.

The other thing that bothered me was that Tink mentions how she shouldn't take a balloon carrier without asking the queen, but she does anyways. Then she loses the balloon carrier and worries about what the queen and Terrance will think. Due to the target age range I get why they didn't go into consequences for this, but then it shouldn't have been brought up as an issue at all because now it's been left unresolved. It just as easily could have been a free for all take out a balloon carrier if you need one and then Tink is upset she lost hers because it had her things. Then it wouldn't have needed any additional resolution at the end of the book.

Tink and Terence is the ultimate friend-zoned couple. LOL~

I get this hunch ever since I watched Tink's movie. I know they're best friends, but I can't help wondering if fairies have romantic feelings like human.

In page 10, it was stated that He liked Tink, though it's because he admired her talent for fixing things.

Then in page 12, Tink agreed that Terence is sweet, though it's because he would do anything to help a friend and he's also very talented. However, Tink couldn't stop thinking that his smile sparkles.

See? It drives me crazy XD

love love loved this one!! i have so much more respect for the disney fairies movie franchise after reading this one, bc it was definitely the inspiration behind “tinkerbell and the lost treasure”. this was basically simpler version of the film and the circumstances are much less dire, but i can so see where they pulled the plot of the film from. i always considered the films and books so drastically different because of the whole cast of characters and holes in the lore, but this definitely bridges the gap between the two. i’ll have to see when this came out in relation to the movie, but this is the first time we also really see tink interacting with the rosetta, fawn, silvermist, and iridessa crew as opposed to the book crew of rani, prilla, etc. i’ve hardly even made a dent in these books too, so i’d love to see where the other films pulled from if possible

this is so cute and sweet
Terence looks slightly more normal here. He still doesn't look how he does in the movies, but he doesn't look as cursed as he used to.
tink reaching for terence's hand when they got to a scary part of the story but he wasn't there--
Okay so. The story here is the Pixie Dust Tree existed long ago. But the Pixie Dust Tree exists in the movies. So Tinker Bell (and Terence and Rosetta and Silvermist and Iridessa and Fawn and Queen Clarion and Vidia and) must have lived through its destruction. I have taken to calling this The Cataclysm. What could have caused this Cataclysm? My new theory is this: WWII. lol
This also explains Prilla. Why is there suddenly a new talent, a new talent which saves and preserves fairies lives? Because so many of them died during The Cataclysm. Tink was born like. late 1800s. Then she hung out with Peter, then Wendy came, then WW2. Disney cannon makes no sense, since Peter Pan is in the 1880s, but Wendy has like a ten year old during WW2 in the sequel. The math is not mathing
Tink never actually apologizes. She just gives Terence her most prized possession and he understands what that means. I love Tink. She like me. someone get me a boy like that
I had more to say but I forgot it all. I got distracted by the other tabs I had open and forgot.
I'm not completely certain I should have this in my "made into a movie or show I seen" shelf because it's so different. It's not an adaptation, they just took elements they liked and did their own thing.
Terence and Tink breaking something important with a compass they're struggling to get into her workshop [edit: in the movie terence got it in fine but then Tink was like. Remove this trash from my presence and hip-checked it and that’s when it rolled away and broke something] and Tink blaming him and getting mad at him for being around so much, Tink taking a balloon carrier on a quest for a legendary item, Tink making up with Terence... but the rest, and the details, are different.
I love the fairy dust fireworks. I hope they use those again for something.
Terence's first instinct being to show it to Tink--
Tink seeing it and feeling left out--
tink was kinda mean to tootles ngl. "foolish boy" "he was used to being called that" poor tootles.
tink said go away and Terence said ok :(
tink realizing how used she is to terence being there
c'moN get them TOGETHER cowards
Tink just yeet the compass into the sea. C'mON Tink you could've given it to Twire and made her month.
I had a good time reading this one. A lot of the others I've just kinda been plowing through in my quest to read them all, but I genuinely was having a good time here.
Also rip the glass bead from Peter
Tink be littering lol
OKAY so HOW was Tink living with Peter for years if she needs dust like. Every day.
and HOW are Peter and the boys flying?
I don't understand
Maybe, in Secret of the Wings, isn't there a root of the Pixie Dust Tree where the winter fairies get their dust from? Maybe there's something like that by Peter. But then what does he do now, after The Cataclysm...
I want to rewatch Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure again. I feel like I just did that last summer. As in, a few months ago. Like I feel like it was 2 months ago. But two months ago was October and I actually watched it in 2024. Time isn't real. See this is why I need to live in Never Land. Time's not real there either
I'm sorry I just can't get over Tink thinking about how nice Terence's smile is. She was thinking about his smile when something really cool she wanted to fix was RIGHT THERE. That's insane. Kiki Thorpe thank you for this moment
And instinctively reaching for his hand at the scary part of the story--!
"all he ever wanted was her friendship" false. her love
I like how enthusiastic Terence is about other people's talents while still liking his the best

edit 12/16/25: rewatched the movie and Tink INVENTED the balloon carriers. wild
Additional similarities to the book: Tink learning about the thing she goes on a quest for at a story, Fawn (who was just with the skunks) sitting next to her at the story, Iridessa being involved with fireworks, Silvermist talks to Terence, Tink heads north…
It would be absolutely hilarious if the books and the movies are in the same continuity and Tink just like. Did this twice lol

8/?/24
i want to go rewatch tinker bell and the lost treasure now. maybe i will.

soooo.... do tink and terence ever actually officially get together in any official canon media? because like. it's there.
brb copy-pasting these quotes from someone else's review
"Terence liked Tink. He admired her dimples and her springy blond ponytail. He marveled at her talent for fixing pots and pans. In fact, he thought it was the best talent next to fairy dust. He loved Tink's smile, but he didn't mind when she frowned. Frowns were part of Tink, too. Above all, Terence liked that Tink was always herself. There was no other fairy like her."
"And he has a nice smile. His smile sparkles.
With a start, Tink realized that she wasn't thinking about the compass. She was thinking about Terence. Tink opened her eyes. She was looking right at him.
Terence smiled."

and the book ends with them HOLDING HANDS c'MON
"and together the two friends flew out into the evening" mm yes friends. definitely that.
i just kept thinking of "yes, friends. and nothing more" line aka satine dropping the falsest lies in the saga lol

i'm glad i impulsively decided to reread this last night. or was it today at like 2am? not sure lol

edit: so I DID rewatch tinker bell and the lost treasure and guess what it says in the credits?

I really enjoyed this book! Most of the magical diary books for this age range are very annoying, but this one as a parent was a nice read. Also it had a purpose to the story, a lesson. A lesson my daughter caught on. Love it and will be finding the rest to read aloud! So glad she brought this home from the school library!

I liked this version of the story more than the Tinkerbell movie of the Lost Treasure, because here she wants to make things right with Terrance after the argue they had by wanting to surprise him and in the movie they do reconcile but because she was in a dangerous situation where she wished for Terrance help.

This book was so sweet! If you’ve ever watched the movie, tinker bell and the lost treasure, this book was very similar, almost a novelization of the movie! It felt like seeing an old friend, reading many of the of the scenes from the movie but also with many new scenes and beautiful illustrations!

While this book is written for the way younger set, I found it to be delightful. The action keeps the attention of the young and the young at heart. The illustrations are purely magically. I am a clown who goes by the name of "Tinkerbell". So anything with Tink in it, I will read.
