On the way to meet her fiance, a Cavalry Captain at Fort Apache, Arizona Territory, Hillary Collier's stage is attacked by Apaches. Though she fights valiantly for her freedom, she is taken captive. When she looks into the face of the fierce warrior, she is shocked. The Indian looks exactly like her fiance. White Fox hears the woman whisper a name as she collapses. Holding back his warriors from taking their revenge against this passenger, too, he whisks her deep into the Tonto Basin, determined to discover why the name she uttered so often surfaces in his nightmares.
Hilary was the only survivor of a stagecoach takeover by the Apache Indians only because she said "Brent" before she passed out. She did manage to get a shot off that hit scar face in the arm which infuriated him before passing out. Scar face was about to kill her when White Fox stopped him because he wanted to talk with her about "Brent". He has been having nightmares for years about being a small child and yelling out "Brent" in his dreams but not knowing what it meant. He promised Scarface that he would bring her back to him so he could have his revenge on her for shooting him.
Hilary see's that White Fox looks a lot like her fiancé Brent, so much so that they could be brothers, but she tosses those thoughts out the window when she discovers he is a wanted Apache Renegade who has killed many people and has a bounty on his head.
After spending more and more time together they start to fall in love with each other and White Fox can't bring himself to ask Hilary about who "Brent" is. If he gets his answers then he knows he has to take her back to his village and turn her over to Scarface to uphold his promise to him of returning her to him so he can have his revenge. He knows the time will come when he has to return anyways but he won't turn her over, he will challenge Scarface to a fight to the death if need be to keep Hilary for himself.
Hilary discovers that she doesn't really love Brent, that he was more of a friend, but she knows she loves white Fox who looks a lot like Brent..
Eventually they all meet up and things are revealed. Lots of adventure and suspense. A nice relaxing sweet story.
Stripped naked beneath a blistering sun, Philadelphia debutante Hillary Collier had never suffered such humiliation. All the sienna-haired beauty had wanted from her trip to Arizona was to marry the Fort Apache officer who was her fiance. But shrieking Apaches had attacked her stage and now the pampered blueblood was White Fox's slave. Hillary tried to keep her hatred alive and not feel his sinewy back graze her sensitive flesh nor his oaken thighs as she gripped him for balance. Most of all, the aroused captive tried not to think of what the powerful savage would do to her that night with her defenses down and escape an impossibility!
Good read. She is in a stagecoach on her way to her fiancee when it is attacked by Apaches. The leader is a white male Apache who takes her with him. He forces her to go with him and they journey together until they come to the Indian village. In the meantime her fiancee, who is in the military searches for her. Unbeknown to all the white Indian is actual her fiancee's long lost brother. HEA ending. Read it again.
