Here is a close, personal look at TV sitcom Who's the Boss star Alyssa Milano. This unauthorized biography takes the fans from the start of Alyssa's career at age nine to behind the scenes on the set. She gives teens tips on everything that concerns her as a typical sixteen-year-old--family, boys, dating, and fashion. Includes a 16-page photo insert.
Grace Catalano is well known for her biographies of film stars with two of her titles, New Kids on the Block and New Kids on the Block Scrapbook both having appeared on the New York Times bestseller lists. She is the author of Leonardo DiCaprio: Modern-day Romeo, which is already available in Bantam paperback. She lives in USA.
I found this book at my local community league’s little free library and was immediately amused by this.
This is basically a biography of Alyssa Milano, who played Tony Danza’s daughter on Who’s the Boss? and the book is basically an attempt to capitalize on that fame. Since this book is from 1989, she’d be 16 when it came out.
This is a fluffy high level look at Alyssa’s life targeted to teens during this time period. Emphasizes how grounded she is despite fame at a young age, her beauty tips, fitness routine, likes, interests, dating preferences, balancing school and acting, and so on.
Nothing substantial but it definitely transported me back to this time period. I haven’t watched the show since it went off the air in 1992 but I was definitely a fan!
Typical teen star bio, although surprisingly well written. I've always been a fan of Alyssa Milano (Charmed!), and if this book got the facts correct she was a sweet, friendly and humble young actress during her Who's the Boss? years.
Was given this book as a gag Christmas gift by my sister-in-law. I went ahead and read it as it’s a quick read. The book was written for young adults in the late 80’s, so it’s not a deep dive into her early life. If you’re a fan and have some time to kill it’s entertaining.
Not nearly as good as Catalano's "River Phoenix: Hero & Heartthrob"-- I still have my copy from 1989. So much of the book is about clothes, makeup, and hairstyling!
