To Lie Is Human: Not Getting Caught Is Divine

Rate this book
The lies you've been told---and the lies you tell yourself---keep you neatly and blindly confined in a prison that society doesn't want you even to see. In his inimitable style, Dr. Hyatt takes you on a walking tour of your cell, and then gives you the tools to tunnel out! One of Dr. Hyatt's favorites.

This book was just what I needed! It really points how we're brainwashed by Scientism and Christianity and how we assume that one type of brainwashing is better than the other. I was a huge Science geek at the time (still am, just not as stupid as those who erroneously assume that their paradigm is the smartest of the smart lol) and didn't realize how much bullshit there is in the politics of that field. Even what I thought was good logic against Christians was easily trumped by this book. My entire life's philosophy was completely pwnd and I was exposed as a noob anti-Christian. Thank goodness!

tapping out at pg 73. The quiz questions don't speak to me, the lyrical tone doesn't speak to me, the topic of peeking beneath the curtain and seeing all the grand lies for what they are is not speaking to me at this time in my life. The idea of lying and getting caught or not getting caught is interesting to me. That doesn't quite seem to be what this book is about.

I re-read this after getting a personal copy (vs. the one I had borrowed previously) and it still has a lot of things that hold true to me. Hyatt's style will piss-off/annoy plenty of people, but if you take the time to absorb what he's saying he has a lot of wisdom for you.

True to Hyatt's writing style, this is a unique, fun and curious look at human programming, and the sorts of lies that we (and society) tell to ourselves on a daily basis. The content of the book is very original, and contains a list of over two hundred aphorisms at the beginning, that the reader is advised to read over, rate, and check for 'reactions'. There is some interesting supplementary material also included, which toys with ideas related to de-programming and fostering true creativity outside of our usual mechanical/zombie waking state. Recommended for those interested in not just an interested read, but also material which may be of use in actually waking up.

Very great book that deals with reality in a more realistic way that I would never have considered before.
