This is an excellent resource which is thorough and far-reaching. It is pretty accessible too, and would be a great introduction to the origins of the sonnet for those with rudimentary knowledge.
Incredibly useful reference, and fascinating in-depth discussion of the evolution of the sonnet. I'd love to read the whole thing cover-to-cover some day.
