In 1510 eighteen-year-old Thierry, orphaned Count of Foretterre, undertakes a series of difficult challenges in order to free the half-human, half-fairy girl he loves from the hold of her cold-hearted father, Lord of Faerie.
I read this book after finding it on the shelves of my middle school library. It sparked a life-long love affair with reading. Something about this book made me fall in love with the fantasy genre and I remember the writing as superb. I would kill to find a copy again (some ten years later) and revisit it with a critical reading.
its kinda trash because the story is taking really long for their love story it lasted 6 chapters for them to finally recognize each other and the main character doesnt even do anything hes just simping over her
A story of true love..this has to do with a guy named Count Thierry who met a lady named Glinfinial (meaning Windleaf in english) who is part human and part fey shows up on his land..he of course falls in love with her and then is challenged by her father who is Faerie Lord Tiernathal who refuses to let his daughter go..so he steals her back and makes Thierry do 3 tasks to get her back..of course he dosen't think Thierry will survive the challenges but he does so now what will happen once he returns with the 3 things asked of him guess u have to read and find out
I read this book in middle school and thought I’d revisit it as an adult. It’s a charming, if simple love story with babies’-first introduction to the Fae. I enjoyed myself the entire time I was reading it. Is it a complex novel with a ton of deep world building? No, but not everything needs to be. The perfect read for a Sunday morning when you’re putting off doing other things and you just want to be whisked away for an hour or two. It also doesn’t linger too long in any one place.
If there is one criticism, it’s that the love between the two main characters is a bit superficial and not well developed, but given the length of the novel and the genre, that’s to be expected.
