Since I read this book in Norwegian, this short review will also be in Norwegian:

Dr. Don Colbert addresses stress and the complications that arise from chronic stress through the lens of complementary medicine. His book is very informative as he goes beyond the typical eat well, sleep, and get exercise advice. He acknowledges that a healthy lifestyle is important, but he goes further by explaining why, even into the physiological aspects of the stress response. Some of the topics he discusses are reactions to possible food allergies, food chemicals, and lack of quality sleep; hormone imbalances, time management, distortional thought patterns, and how extreme exercise can prevent weight loss in those who are already chronically stressed. This book covers most everything one would need to consider when trying to reduce stress and adopt a healthier lifestyle. I found that the first chunk of the book was very straight forward however, midway through the book all of these topics were very descriptive and a bit hard to remember if you go a good length of time in between reading.

If you find yourself moderately or frequently stressed, this book will help. Stress Less provides valuable information on mind, body, and spiritual health. I appreciated receiving this content from a Christian doctor.

The mix of faith, anecdotal stories, and medical knowledge created good balance and interest. The frequency of scripture references and biblical applications also blended well.

Information was easy to understand and quite detailed. I did find some of the scientific data a little too graphic, but still helpful. The extensive list of how stress affects the body started to bring stress! LOL! I ended up skipping that section.

Each chapter may not apply to you, but there’s good, useful information within each chapter. Making time to read this book or selected sections would be beneficial. I recommend it.

A VERY PRACTICAL GUIDE TO ELIMINATE OR REDUCE STRESS IN YOUR LIFE FROM A CHRISTIAN AND MEDICAL PERSPECTIVE. LOTS OF SCRIPTURE AND LOTS OF GOOD INFORMATION ALONG WITH REAL LIFE EXAMPLES OF HIS PATIENTS OVER THE YEARS. THE MAIN FOCUS IS ON YOUR THINKING AND TRAINING YOURSELF TO MAKE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO CHOOSE A BETTER ATTITUDE AND LET GO OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST. ALSO, PLENTY OF THINGS ABOUT DIET, EXERCISE, TREATMENTS AND THERAPY TO HELP ALONG THE WAY. A GOOD RESOURCE TO KEEP AROUND AND RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.

As always, I enjoy reading Dr. Colbert's books for wisdom updates on my health journey. This book was as lifesaver in 2014 when my husband passed away early. I had just purchased this prior. It had timely and profound wisdom that I hung on to as I went through the grief journey. There is information in here that I have rarely seen other places. Thank you Dr. Colbert.

Excellent faith-based book filled with practical stress relief tactics. Religious-suggestions aside, the actions this book recommends have helped me relax and realize the medical maladies that can come about from stress. Great read!

I read this book in search of practical ways to relieve stress and live better. I like that the book had a bible basis and decided to give it a try.

There is not all that much new in this book. A lot of the tips are ones that most will have heard before. Nevertheless, these are the exact tips that people cannot seem to remember when the stress level is too high. Thus, it is still a good, and seemingly pretty exhaustive, reference.

When I first started reading, the bible verses seemed to be haphazardly thrown in without much context. However, later in the book, the integration of bible stories, examples, and references was much better and more useful. Towards the end of the book, there was a whole chapter on the importance of connecting with God and His Word. I was surprised to see a chapter on being assertive because I had not thought about the impact it could have on stress.

This book was mostly an easy read throughout, although readers may get lost a bit when the author gets into a more technical discussion when talking about adrenal fatigue. It felt like that was a little too much information in that section. There were also several annoying plugs for his other books (to learn more read my book...). Still, overall, this was a good, useful read, packed with tons of good advice and practices to help readers start thinking about stress, how it affects us, and how to control it. This book really got me thinking and I actually felt a bit of stress relief just reading and contemplating over it.

I initially borrowed this book from the library, but I ended up purchasing a copy to have as handy reference for those times when I am so stressed that I forget many of these simple practices. This is definitely worth the read for Christians looking to relieve stress and get closer to God.

This book becomes dry after a while, and the occasional Bible scripture seems out of place. Especially since the further in the book, they become less frequent. Almost forgotten. A lot of this book still rings true, despite being 10 years old now.

Really good practical advice on dealing with stress and worry. The author is Christian and demonstrates it in this book. I have a hard copy, an audio and the Kindle version. Have read several time over the years.

Okay I never finished this book. It was good and had some great points but it got boring so I moved on to things I didn't have to think about!

I appreciate this medical doctor's holistic approach to "stressing less" -- body, soul, and spirit -- most particularly his attention to preventative nutritional remedies.
