Marvelous: a central reference for the history of field theories.

This book offers a very interesting historical and conceptual overview of classical and quantum field theories in the framework of geometrical and QFT/gauge programmes. The author also addresses his thesis on structural ontology, and the meaning and possibility of scientific evolution within such a thesis, given his account on 20th century field theories. Highly recommended.
