Entebbe Rescue

Rate this book
More than a hundred passengers of a skyjacked Air France jetline were held hostage at Uganda's Entebbe airport. They were forced to endure a nightmare week of agony in Old Terminal building, as terrorists bargained for their lives. Just hours before the final deadline a squad of Israeli commandoes launched Operation Thunderball. Without warning they blasted their way into the terminal and airlifted 105 hostages to freedom. This is the full, minute-by-minute, fact-by-fact story of the incredible intelligence operations that led to the mission--from the passengers who survived seven days of horror to the heroic men who carried out the spectacular 53-minute strike against international terrorism.

I liked the book even though the negotiations in the middle dragged out for a while. It was originally written in Hebrew and the English translation isn't the best. It is interesting that it was written at the time, so it isn't influenced by later perceptions. Even though I know the ending, I got tears in my eyes.

Good book but gets a little long on the back story/history of each figure - and there were many - who took part in the rescue mission.
