Successful Washington, DC photographer Lucy McSweeney has given up on looking for Mr. Right. With her biological time clock pounding a veritable drum beat, she's decided all she really needs is a turkey baster to lead her to motherhood. Andrew Madigan is a good guy. So good, he even makes a monthly deposit at a local sperm bank, in honor of his sister, whose marriage fell apart after being unable to conceive. But maybe Drew's a little too good--after all, he's even willing to overlook the fact that his fiancée might no longer be the person he should spend the rest of his life with, because he doesn't want to hurt her feelings. But sparks fly when Lucy and Andrew have a chance encounter. Only problem is their chance encounter leads to a very pregnant Lucy shooting Andrew's wedding, a wedding that should never have happened to begin with...
Not sure I totally understand the Title or the picture which appears to be a lady running in heels. The book is about Lucy aka our Heroine a woman in her really early thirty's who would like to have a child but doesn't even have a boyfriend, although she does have a boink buddy but he's not an option. After a discussion with her best friend in which they refer to certain aspects of the human anatomy as tomatoes and tomato seeds she decides to try in-vitro-fertilization via the local Sperm Bank. Meanwhile our Hero aka Drew\Andrew donates to the Sperm Bank on a regular basis because he wants to help someone unable to have children because his sister couldn't and it broke up her marriage. He is known as 629. Not only is Lucy successful at getting pregnant she is carrying twins. One day she gets stuck at Security at the Capital Building and Drew comes to her aid. He has a connection to the Music industry and she's a Photographer there to film an event for the Music Lobby. So he helps her out and after that he seems to keep magically appearing and becomes her Knight in Shining Armour and after numerous other happenings involving secondary characters they receive their Happily Ever After. Although a tad predictable specially once we know certain things its still a really good read.
i did enjoy how Drew and Lucy could be sarcastic and complimented each other and it was a little predictable but the worse part was the ending. the whole story was building up to the big reveal and when it happened all a sudden their whole future and journey happened within a 5 minute conversation.
This was a super quick, fun novella. I have enjoyed all the Jenny Gardiner books that I have read, so I had to check this one out written under her pen name Erin Delany.
