When she receives a cryptic email that reads "I'll be watching you...," Taylor Halstead, psychologist and successful radio talk host, becomes concerned for her safety. As her stalker becomes more threatening, she fears for her life but doesn't know whom she can trust. Could somebody from her past be coming back to haunt her?
This is the author's first hardcover. Fast-paced read with a little romance added in the mix of the intense, complex, and very suspenseful story. Highly recommend.

He wasn't sidetracked by her typically female question. [..] "This isn't about your physical attributes. It's about how exhausted you look, like you didn't shut an eye last night."

Excuse me being deceased from the typically stupid phrase "typically female." Why would he assume, when he asks if she's okay, that her reaction is "Oh god, he thinks I'm ugly." Come on, she knows she's exhausted and has literally been packing up her apartment all morning. She knows if she didn't get enough sleep. Like why even have an interaction this dumb.

I was already kinda meh about this book but this is where I throw in the towel. Yes, I'm DNFing on page 85 for usage of "typically female." Never want to see it again, thanks.

I really enjoyed this book. It was one of those that you just don't want to put down once you start it.

The plot was excellent. I was thoroughly hooked. I was pretty sure right from the start that Gordon hadn't been killed in the boat explosion. I sort of expected it from just reading the back cover. So I wasn't surprised he was the bad guy. Still...she does an excellent job making the reader wonder if just maybe it is Jonathan. It was the way she wrote the sections with the bad guys thoughts. They were so vague and and written in a way that it really sounded like Jonathan. The fact that Gordon was Dennis was a total surprise. I never expected that.

I loved Taylor/Reed. They were so great together. And what I really enjoyed about this book was that they had a "normal" romance...if you discount the bad stuff going on. I just mean that in a lot of books, guy and girl meet, fall in lust, screw like bunnies, fight their real feelings, plot resolves, they break up, then finally admit feelings and get back together. But in this book, the characters meet, date, fall in love, and stay together. I enjoyed that.

I enjoyed this book. I believe Andrea Kane did a good job creating the romance between Taylor and Reed. There were times I thought Taylor felt a little whiny but overall I liked both characters. (And the others involved as well)

The suspense was done well. I was pretty sure I knew who was stalking Taylor, but there were twist to that, that I was not expecting.

No ha estado tan mal. Es decir, no tengo idea de cuánto tiempo esta autora ha escrito este tipo de género, pero bueno. Me ha parecido uno para salir del paso.

La trama era interesante, aunque algo previsible. Hice mi conclusión demasiado pronto, y a medida que pasaba el libro, solo se reforzaba la teoría, y ya saben lo "fifi" que soy con estos libros. En cuanto se me ha metido en la cabeza quién es el culpable, se vuelve todo muy lento y me sale la desesperación por los poros.

El romance también está bien. Estoy acostumbrada al "insta-love" en las novelas de suspenso y misterio, por un tema de tiempo en los sucesos, y esta ha estado bien llevado. Ni muy dejado de lado, ni muy pesado que te saca de lo realmente importante del libro. Hasta diría que es su punto más fuerte.

Es verdad que estoy comparando a la autora con grandes, GROSAS, del suspenso romántico como Linda Howard, o - la magnífica y favorita de quién les escribe- Karen Rose, y estas tienen una forma de escritura que te mantiene mordiéndote las uñas hasta el final, pero es que se me hace imposible no recordarlas cuando me ponen en frente una novela de este género. So sorry, tengo el listón demasiado alto en lo que a esto respecta. Pocas, además de las nombradas, me han logrado impresionar.

En fin, es un aprobado porque me ha gustado lo suficiente como para no abandonarlo. Aunque no sé si seguiría leyendo a la autora.

very good for a romantic-suspense novel. i only say that because most books in this genre tend to have no originality and i find myself forgetting which is which, they all seem so alike. the plot was very good, the dialogue even better, and i could actually feel the connection between reed and taylor.

Well another Andrea Kane book, I am determined to read all or whatever I can get from my library.

So in this one, the would-be victim is a radio personality and daytime school psychologist at a private school for wealthy kids, mostly without manners. Taylor is assaulted by her cousin's boyfriend who just before he leaves the unfinished sexual assault promises to return and that he will be "watching her". Then he and Taylor's cousin are killed in a boating explosion.

Months after the deaths, Taylor is still struggling with the death of cousin who was almost a sister to her when she begins to feel that someone is "watching" her, and then a terror campaign begins that includes emails and telephone threats. Unfortunately for Taylor the offending supposed dead boyfriend has an identical twin who enters her life with an agenda of his own. It would seem that only the attorney is trustworthy, so she sleeps with him!

Romantic suspense that is fast-paced and tightly plotted. I am enjoying Ms. Kane's books but as with many series I can see a pattern forming. Not that patterns are a bad thing, only it is there.

This is a great thriller woven together with a hot romance. Reed is the kind of man every straight woman wants to find, sexy, charming, kind, and attentive. But reading this was a little difficult for me. Taylor's assault and the aftermath triggered an intense emotional response. I was crying uncontrollably, but still felt the need to continue reading. Books like this can be difficult for me with memories off my own sexual assault and problems with depression. But seeing Taylor coming out the other side stronger and happier makes me feel hopeful that the treatment of my own issues will continue to go well.

It hasn't been a good year for psychologist Taylor Halstead. Her story opens with an attempted sexual assault by her cousin Steph's boyfriend, Gordon, fortunately averted when Steph arrives on the scene unexpectedly. Within hours, Gordon and Steph are dead, killed when his yacht explodes. Taylor can't forget Gordon's final words to her: he'll be back to finish what he started, and until then, "I'll be watching you." His death comes as a relief, and she tries to put the horrific experience behind her. But four months later, two sinister emails, written in much the same vein, plunge her into another nightmare, one in which she is relentlessly and terrifyingly stalked. Support comes in the handsome form Reed Weston, the attorney who's helping to probate Gordon and Steph's estates. Romance is quick to bloom, but when Reed's called upon the defend Gordon's twin brother on charges of murder, Taylor is stunned. How could Reed defend the very man she suspects is her stalker?

I'll Be Watching You falls solidly within the romantic suspense genre. As a mystery, the plot is somewhat contrived but has the requisite twists and turns. It isn't very difficult to ID the stalker, but it's more a matter of how than who. It also has the requisite sex scenes, in which the earth moves for both Taylor and Reed, but the relationship manages not to be too cloying. This is a fast paced book that should appeal to fans of Heather Graham and Kay Hooper.

This book was a cliche from beginning to end. The big, strong man who comes to the rescue of the damsel in distress. The "tough, independent" woman who needs said man to tear down her walls. The villain spilling his guts about his diabolical plans at the end. The boat explosion and faked death. I'm not even going to spoiler tag this for saying that because anyone who has ever seen a movie or read a book knows what's coming. The "twist" really wasn't much of a twist. What really bothered me though was the heroine. You learn in writing classes to show, don't tell. Kane tells the reader over and over how tough and strong and independent Taylor is. Yet when any little thing happens to her, she completely falls apart and immediately calls her man to come save her. She's getting harassing phone calls! OH NO! I need my man to make me feel better. Girl, unplug your phone and get a backbone. I felt no sympathy for Taylor. I was almost rooting for the villain, except that he's such a caricature he was laughable. I can handle romantic suspense when it's done well, like Sandra Brown and Jayne Ann Krentz (who had a quote on the cover, which drew me in), but this was just so over-the-top I got a headache from rolling my eyes so much.

I was recently informed that I won an advanced copy of a new book coming out by this author. Having never read her before, I rushed to the library to grab one of her books and brought this one home.
I really enjoyed this story, although, felt that it meandered a little in the middle. As it meandered along to what was sure to be a highly predictable conclusion, the author threw in a few twists that I did not see coming at all. Excellent ! I love a plot with a grand twist or two. Not everything was so predictable after all.
Now off to Barnes and Noble to buy "Twisted" before my advanced copy arrives !

In 'I'll Be Watching You', Taylor has it all.. she's a successful psychologist and talk radio show host with both beauty and brains. However, her life starts falling apart beginning from the moment her cousin Steph's creepy boyfriend, Gordon almost rapes her. Subsequently, both Steph and Gordon are killed in a boat explosion along with many other people. As if those weren't bad enough, she soon receives threatening messages and calls from a stalker. Who's after Taylor and why?

The premise piqued my interest immediately - throw in some brutal untimely deaths and a stalker and I'm in. I usually prefer murder mysteries or stalker tales to be as romance-free as possible hence I was apprehensive about the obvious budding romance here. I ended up being pleasantly surprised by the author's ability to seamlessly deliver a balance of danger and mystery together with some tender as well as sexually charged moments. As a result, both the mystery and romance aspects were delved into and developed very well indeed.

The stalking aspect was well-written. The stalker's behaviour, choice of words and actions were convincing and menacing, evoking a sense of impending doom and looming danger. The question was of course, who? That one wasn't hard to figure out as Gordon's 'death' could be seen from a mile away. It would naturally eliminate him as a suspect though he best fit the profile; it was more of how and why this character was targeting Taylor. Taylor's reactions were realistic too. She started off level-headed and in control, only to gradually become more worried and paranoid to the extent of losing sleep.

Although the stalker's identity was apparent, there was yet another twist that was refreshingly unexpected - Gordon had had plastic surgery and was masquerading as Dennis, one of Taylor's co-workers at the radio station. Talk about hiding in plain sight! . The explanations were well-thought-out and made sense though I found it a little hard to believe how everyone managed to piece everything together on such short notice. The stalker also behaved out of character by bothering to explain how he / she had executed his / her plan perfectly but that was clearly the author's way to make the reader understand.

Taylor and Reed's relationship felt surprisingly genuine to me. The author was able to convey how they cared for each other very much without ever deviating from the main storyline. It would have been better if Taylor hadn't constantly relied on Reed, calling him every single time she just got off the phone with her stalker. That aside, there's no doubt that they shared a healthy relationship and could communicate honestly and openly with each other.

Overall, 'I'll Be Watching You' was a delightfully suspenseful page-turner that showed how nothing is ever as it seems.

Taylor Halstead world comes crashing down when she's assaulted in her own home by her cousin's boyfriend. Only her cousin coming home early stops Gordon from raping Taylor. The next day, Taylor's world comes crashing down yet again, when news reaches her that her cousin died in a boat explosion, along with her boyfriend. So at least he'll be unable to keep his chilling promise of coming back and finishing what they've started...And watching her in interim.

Six months later, it looks like someone is keeping Gordon's promise for him, and Taylor has to accept the fact she has a stalker. She also suspects who the bastard is—her would-be rapist's identical twin brother, Jonathan. But unlike six months ago, Taylor has an ally, someone who will not let her be made victim again, no matter what it takes.

But maybe, just maybe, not even Reed Weston's resolution to protect Taylor will help in the face of her stalker's twisted determination.



Compared to the previous books, this was much lighter on the romance, but so much heavier on the suspense.
I liked the romance, it was rather understated, but believable and rather realistically portrayed, even thought it was a bit hasty as far as the depth of Taylor and Reed's feelings were concerned, but it worked. And while I liked the romance, I loved the suspense. You could even say, this was more of a thriller with romantic undertones than a straight-up romantic suspense.

The entire plot, even the romance, revolved around the mystery of Taylor's stalker, and I must confess this particular villain was absolutely one of my favorite villains in the books I've read so far.
He was crazy and psychotic, chillingly twisted, yet meticulous in the execution of his plan. I was actually looking forward to what he might come up next, and, of course, how it would all come crashing around him. Which it did, splendidly, although I felt it was rather easily solved, after all the clues came together like puzzle pieces.

I especially liked how the plot was developed, and how the story was written to immediately point the finger to the villain...All the clues, behavior, explanations, obsessions pointed in only one direction...Only to prove us all wrong in our thinking process. Because, let's face it, it was too easy, wrapped up too nicely, there had to be a catch.

Well-plotted, with a wonderful cast of characters, a nice little romance to help mellow things down in between the danger, a much higher pace of things than the previous books, and a wonderfully twisted villain propelling the suspense and mystery forward. Well written and splendidly executed.

Mi humilde opinión:

Conocía a esta autora porque escribe romance histórico y me acabo de enterar que escribe también policial e intriga que es uno de los géneros que me comenzó a enganchar el año pasado. Acosada me llamó la atención y decidí darle una oportunidad.

Taylor ha perdido a su mejor amiga por un loco desquiciado que estuvo a punto de violarla. Gordon ha muerto pero un tiempo después comienzan a llegarle postales y regalos que le hacen sospechar que quizás podría estar con vida. En medio de sus inquietudes y miedos, aparece el guapo abogado Reed con quien tiene una conexión inmediata y no solo eso, es amigo de Jonathan, el gemelo idéntico del hombre que más temía en su vida: Gordon. Tylor esta comenzando a creer que Jonathan bien podría querer conseguir lo que su gemelo no pudo; a ella.

Una vez que empecé a leer no pude dejarlo, es un libro que se lee rápido y te mantiene en vilo en todo momento. Me gustó el misterio y el suspenso, que me deje adivinando. No sabía decir quién era el bueno o el malo. Es una buena mezcla con los momentos de romance y drama. Los personajes me gustaron, sobre todo Taylor y Reed, la autora logro que se transmita la química y lo que se devela al final no me lo esperaba en absoluto así que le doy un plus por eso, me dejó realmente pasmada.

This was the first Andrea Kane Novel I have read. And I loved it. She kept me interested from the beginning. It is a story about Therapist who works at a private school and also does radio show. She meets and falls for a criminal lawyer in a large firm. She gets assaulted by her cousins date. Her cousin is killed on the same night of the assault. She has a date with the assailant. They go out on his boat and it is blown to bits. Taylor the therapist is in charge of the estate of her cousin. The criminal lawyer is over the estate in the company of man that was killed. Her assailant. Tayler gets the feeling she is being watched. There is a twin brother in this company that wants Taylor for his wife. He has some mental issues. With becoming too involved with red headed women. He believes they are interested in him. So Taylor thinks this is who is watching her. It does not help that he has a drinking problem. It gets bad from here out. There is a double murder. Taylor continues to get harassed. The twin brother gets arrested for the murders and the lawyer Reed represents him. I am leaving it at that. I do not want to spoil it. But it kept me going. I think you will like it.

This romance suspense thriller had me teetering between continuing to read and throwing it in the "never mind" pile. It starts well, with everything described in the blurb being attacked by her cousin's controlling boyfriend. A psychologist is relieved when the attack is interrupted but devastated by her cousin's untimely death. Thinking her attacker is also dead, Taylor moves on with her life and begins a romance until she starts getting these horrifying late-night calls that tell her someone is watching her.

Admittedly, those parts were terrifying, and when the book focused on the thriller part, I was hooked. On the other hand, there were tonnes of fillers and distractions that slowed down a reveal that I believed I could guess very early on. So I feel it's safe to say " it was okay but I wouldn't recommend it."

I liked it a lot! The ONLY thing I didn't like, was kind of the "whodunnit" aspect because the summary/back cover basically tells you everything you need to know. However, it was very thrilling, and reading the cat and mouse was exciting. I read it really fast (which sucked, because I didn't bring an extra book with me on vacation!), and it was well-paced.
Didn't like how one of the characters went from "they're crazy" to "they're misunderstood" so fast. (You'll know it when you read it) Weird shift, but oh well.

And exciting tale of romance horror and mystery.

Reed was fantastic. He was kind, loving, tough, intelligent, loyal, determined, everything you want a hero to be.

And Taylor was smart, spunky, take no shit, level headed, and strong.

Their story is beautiful and real and enduring. It was full of fire and sugary sweetness.

The surrounding events was captivating edge of your seat thrilling.

I enjoyed this story about a women name Taylor - psychologist and radio personality. Taylor and her cousin Stephanie are roommates. Stephanie’s boyfriend Gordon a rich snob has violated his friendship with Taylor which snowballs into constant terror for her. I enjoyed the suspense and the twist and turns in this story. A must read, you’ll enjoy it.

Wow! Another crazy twisty book with all sorts of red herrings. I am greatly enjoying all her books but this is definitely one of my two favorites. Once I had a chance to start I couldn't stop reading it. It was exciting and mesmerizing and extremely difficult to figure out who the real bad guy was, and what more can you ask for in a thriller?

This book was written in 2005 so some of the terms and things they use, like house and flip phones, are funny to read about. That being said, I really liked this book! It had a good amount of twists and turns and when you think you know, there’s another twist thrown in. Some of it did feel predictable and far fetched to me. DNF: I'm not going to rate this one. The beginning leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. I wasn't expecting the attempted rape at all and have no desire to read anything remotely like that in detail especially right out of the gate. This is not the author's fault, and therefore I am not giving this book a rating.

I enjoyed this quick read. The characters were well developed and the suspense real. I felt like it started off with a bang and ended with a bombshell, but the middle really lagged. I almost put it down after all of Taylor's whining and determination to stay a messed up ball of emotions. I grew to love Reed Weston and his resolve to save Taylor. I need to find me a real life Reed!
