Ken Gire is the author of more than 20 books, including "The Divine Embrace," "Windows of the Soul," "The Work of His Hands," the Moments with the Savior series, and the Reflective Life series. He has also co-authored "The Birthright" with John Sheasby. Two of his books have been awarded a Gold Medallion. A full-time writer and speaker, Ken is the founder of Reflective Living, a nonprofit ministry devoted to helping people learn how to slow down and live more reflective lives so they can experience life more deeply, especially life with God and other people. Ken is a graduate of Texas Christian University and Dallas Theological Seminary. He has four children and three grandchildren and lives near the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Monument, Colorado.

As a bestselling author, Ken speaks primarily on the subjects in the books he has written. In the past, he has spoken at such venues as Bill and Gloria Gaither's Praise Gathering, Billy Graham's Training Center---the Cove, Laity Lodge, Wind River Ranch, Young Life, as well as a variety of denominational and non-denominational churches. He has spoken in the church service itself but has mostly done church retreats. He is available to speak for large, public events as the keynote speaker or for smaller, more private events, such as leadership retreats. In all of his talks, Ken uses a variety of audio-visuals, such as film clips, and so the host would need to have the necessary equipment and someone to operate it. His messages can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the venue. Since most of his speaking topics are from the books Ken has written, you can get a greater feel for his talks by first getting the book from Amazon.com, which carries both his in-print and out-of-print books.

One of my all-time favorite books of meditations on Scripture. Gire has a gift for placing you in the scene. It's almost Ignatian. I'd swear he was a Jesuit (or at least Jesuit influenced) if I didn't know he was a Protestant author. Great book.

This book has become my favorite devotional book of all time. Finishing it made me want to start right back at the beginning again. I love Ken Gire's writing, and his insights into the life of Jesus really ministered to me. I would give this book 6 stars if I could.

This devotional walks through portions of the gospels and provides meditations and a prayer to make for a short devotional format. I found the meditations to simply to be rewording what the scripture said with more fluff and added details (which is not given in scripture) and didn’t add much value for many of the entries. What saved the book were the prayers at the end of each entry, which felt like the most meaningful of Ken’s contributions to the Bible readings for each day. Overall, an average devotional.

I received this book from my father as a gift the time he came back from the US (February 2012). I actually requested him to buy this for me, because I have read Intimate Moments with the Savior and Intense Moments with the Savior and I have been so much blessed by those. This book is a combination of all the different moments: intimate, intense, instructive, insightful, and incredible. I read through it like a hungry person and finished it quickly.
This book is very inspiring, it's so much a blessing, that actually I already have over half of its content to Tagalog and published it in our church's weekly paper. It touches the heart, and moves you to act on it. It's not a doctrinal book; it's mainly for Christian living, though you can learn many historical facts from it.
The only questionable content I found was the devotional article on pages 343-345, which sees the Catholics, Lutheran, charismatics and Baptists as equally Christians.
Other than that, I'm pleased to recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a fresh look at the life of Jesus, his teachings and his miracles.

Moments with the Savior is an extraordinary book filled with the revelation and insights about Jesus and His life. Trace back to the timeline of Jesus and walk with Him from the time of His birth to the time on the cross and the resurrection. Feel what He felt. See what He saw and did. Embrace the kindness, forgiveness, healing and worth from the hands of the Almighty One.

Love the book. It literary transforms me into the heart of the very event Jesus lived. Dejavu with Jesus.

Beautifully written meditations on happenings in the life of Jesus. Somewhat romanticized, or maybe a lot romanticized, but beautiful and poignant snapshots, slice of life style. Good for those who struggle to visualize and "experience" the stories of the New Testament.

I must admit that I'm a fan of Ken Gire. That said, it just seems as though he writes devotionals that meet me where I am at. And his prayers are bolder than I am often willing to pray on my own, whether they are convicting or encouraging...

This is an amzaing book which expands on the bible verses to give you insight as to what was happening at the time of each story. It is so well written I've found myself just in tears feeling I've really met Jesus through the pages of this book.

This book was the first Ken Gire book I read. His writing totally captivates me. The way he portrays Jesus as such a personal, loving God changed how i looked at my faith and the Bible. i have shared this book with many people and all have agreed with me.

Not your usual, standard devotional. His descriptive narration of a loving Christ draws you nearer to him as you realize the joys and hardships he could have had as He lived on earth. Highly recommended.

Gire takes sixty-six event in the life of Christ and using the NIV he records the event with commentary and then closes each section with an appropriate prayer. I loved reading this and will probably re-read this at another time.

Fairley good devotional. Food for thought. Although the author has taken liberties and at times it reads a bit like historical fiction.

"He comes to the weary heart to give it rest. To the lonely heart to give it friendship. To the wounded heart to give it healing. To the sad heart to give it joy. And if not joy, at least the companionship of someone who has known what it's like to be sad and wounded, lonely and weary."

Loved this book as a morning devotional. It captures beautifully the moments of Jesus's life and his interaction with creation. Gire really pulls you into the details of the story, the humanness of those we read about in scripture, and the incredible love and patience of our savior, Jesus.

Great read!

Excellent devotional book! I love Gire’s writing style. He takes you there and explains portions of scripture in a way that truly brings them to life. He brings a new perspective to scriptures I’ve read for years. I’ve purchased this devotional as a gift for several people and they love it, as well.

Ken Gire uses words to paint many beautiful pictures. Each relatively short reading has a scripture a meditation and a prayer. I read one a day for several days and often would be pondering some aspect of the reading each day. A great book to just read in small segments over a long time.

What Was Jesus Really Like?

For the Christian, or for the curious, this book walks thru what we know about the life of Jesus. Get to know the person, and understand how profoundly revolutionary his ideas were ... and still are.

Perfectly called a devotional, Ken Gire presents a verbal imagining that runs like a movie through your head, of key scriptures in the life, death, and resurrection of the Savior. A beautiful book!
