Disgusted by the Marquess of Blytheland, who believes no female can be both free-thinking and virtuous, a beautiful young woman must choose between hiding her intelligence or proving herself. Original.
Karen Harbaugh is a half-Japanese U.S. Northwesterner Navy brat with a BA in English, is happily married to a sweet and supportive engineer, and has one alarmingly intelligent son. She has found being a full-time romance writer, mom and wife to be a heck of a lot more challenging than being a Quality Assurance Analyst for a major HMO or being a technical writer. The job has longer hours, for one thing, and she is on call a good 24 hours a day, and there is no such thing as vacation time. She has written for HarperCollins under the pseudonym, Kathleen Elliott.
I met this author one day at the library where I work. She was putting another book on hold and we got to talking. I don't tend to read romance novels, but had to read one of hers. I enjoyed it. It was very nice - not the bodice ripping kind! The female characters were strong and caring. I'll probably read another to see if I like it as well!
I read the third book in this trilogy, Cupid’s Kiss, years ago and it really stuck with me. My teenage self thought it was so romantic, and I’ve never forgotten it. At the time, I didn’t realize it was the third book in a trilogy. When I realized that fact years later, I had to buy the whole set. This first book was fine, but not as good as the third. I did love the insight into Psyche and Harry (the main characters in book 3) friendship. I’m sure it will add something extra to the reading experience when I finally re-read book 3!
Lento e poco interessante, lo stile di Karen è forse adatto a chi ama i classici. La storia di Cupido che diventa personaggio“reale”lascia un po’ così. Inoltre giunta a un terzo della lettura non è ancora accaduto niente di che. Evitabile.
The story is set during the Regency Era and is the first book in a trilogy. The tone is humorous and light. Eros/ Harry lives up to his mistivious reputation.
