Autumn Rain’s unique ability to read imprints—emotions left on certain objects—is put to the test as she attempts to find a missing actress. When the investigation uncovers an eight-yearold mystery that involves more missing actors and one dead body, Autumn finds herself embroiled in a make-believe world where it’s difficult to tell fake imprints from real, and where everyone concerned has something to hide. To learn the truth, Autumn must team up again with the handsome Detective Martin, complicating their uncertain relationship and testing her loyalty to her former boyfriend, Jake Ryan. Life takes another unexpected turn when Autumn discovers a clue to her own past that may explain her unusual abilities. But Autumn’s mixed feelings about this discovery are put on hold as she finds herself in a deadly struggle to keep from facing her own final call.
Rachel Ann Nunes (pronounced noon-esh) learned to read when she was four and by seventh grade knew she was going to be an author. Now as a stay-at-home mother of seven, it isn't easy to find time to write, but she will trade washing dishes or weeding the garden for an hour at the computer any day! Her only rule about writing is to never eat chocolate at the computer. "Since I love chocolate and writing," she jokes, "my family might never see me again."
Rachel has over sixty published books, including the popular Ariana series and the award-winning picture book Daughter of a King. She enjoys hiking, swimming, spending time with her family, reading, and visiting far off places.
I had been anxiously awaiting this book since I closed the cover of Shades of Gray and it did NOT disappoint. I loved all the tension with Autumn and Shannon, but I also love that Autumn isn't any wilting violet waiting to be rescued.
The mystery was first-rate with all the twists and turns that I would expect from a Rachel Nunes book. I picked out who I thought was the villain, but was still questioning my choice right up until the end.
And boy, did that ending leave me breathless. I can't wait for the next one so I can see what happens to our heroine. I know this book will go on my keeper shelf so I can read my favorite parts over and over again.
Not my favorite book... I think I would have been happy just reading the first book in this trilogy and calling it good. I still like the idea of imprints but Autumn is just too hippy for me - I can't take it! Ages 13+
I don't know why I keep plugging along with this series. I have it on ebook and it's nice to read when I get a min here or there. This one took me 3 months to finish... so it really drug out a long time. I got confused who was who, as they kept changing the names of characters, they would call by first name sometimes and last name others and not reading straight through, I would get mixed up on who was who... I'm glad there was finally development in the romance department but those scenes were seriously lacking... For some reason, I started the next book...
I have loved the autumn rain series from the beginning. Autumn is a different character than normal. I love her individualism and personal strength. I love the series because you see how she is developed even more as you see her love of antiques, of family, of wholeness and naturalness with foods and living life, with not wearing shoes. I love how she has learned more about her biological background over the last books and this book isn't any different. She now knows that her mother, a 15 year old rape victim, was struggling for support from a drug/ and alcoholic mother, whose boyfriend is who raped her daughter. When the mother finally is sober enough to try to make amends with her daughter it is too late. Now Autumn and Tawnia know the name of their biological father, and at the end of this novel have the chance to go and help clear his name of a missing child accusation. their biological grandmother told them that cody Beckett, their father knew what he did to Kendal and punished himself by serving time in jail for a crime he didn't commit and then isolating himself from others. She also told the girls that he might have the same talent as Autumn with imprinting and can draw, along with having their eyes.
The case that detective shannon and Autumn work this time is a missing actress named, Rosemary. Rosemary is a friend, Liam's big sister who is estranged from the family because of her acting career. Foul play, jealousy and prestige in climbing to Broadway acting play a part in actors being poisoned and disappearances. All of this puts Tawnia and Destiny(autumn's niece) in danger when Tawnia takes the part of Juliet the coveted role that has had actors being poisoned or disappearing in the past. When she goes to resign, it puts her and Destiny in danger when a maniac tries to put and end to Tawnia's life and pass off destiny off as her own all to get back at her father who doesn't want to give her a chance as a truly loved daughter or a lead actress. They find rosemary alive and Detective shannon finally makes his move to show Autumn how he feels about her. Jake has been supportive but giving autumn some space in their relationship. Can't wait for the next book in this series...i'm hooked!

Imagine that if you touched an object that had been held during an emotional moment you could not just feel that emotion, but sometimes, depending on the degree of how powerful that emotion was--love, hate, contentment, jealousy, peace, anger, etc.--you actually relived the moment as if it were you. Confused? Well suppose there was a glass and when you touched the glass you suddenly saw yourself stirring a white powder into the lemonade that was now in the glass. And your thoughts were suddenly those of the person who had done that very thing at an earlier time--thoughts of murder.
Autumn Rain's abilities to feel "imprints" have both tormented her and driven her. In the two previous books, "Imprints" and "Shades of Gray" she was able to use her abilities to help solve murders--to where she now consults with the police department. However, this time it's complicated. The imprints are on props that a theater company has used for years. Reality is getting confused with acting.
The story is filled with conflicts. With one girl murdered and another missing, both in the same acting company, and within hours of each other, logic says the two would be connected. However, none of the suspects (that seem to multiply every hour) appear to have motive for both. She finds herself torn between protecting her family and helping a friend--hopefully in time to save a life. And then there is the personal confusion Autumn needs to sort out--whether she wants to be with the devastatingly good-looking man that is her best friend, or the police detective whose eyes unnerve her.
I enjoyed "Final Call." It is fast paced and keeps the reader guessing, though I found myself wishing Autumn would just kiss the right guy already! I liked Autumn's quirky preference to go barefoot. I worried about her choice of a black sweatshirt over cargo pants, but I reasoned that she must be adorable to have two men competing for her. Because it was intriguing, as were the characters, I read this book much quicker than usual.
Okay, I'm officially hooked again. I love that Autumn isn't your typical damsel in distress and certainly isn't afraid to show her own backbone. Shannon has definitely grown on me as well. As much as Autumn/Jake fit, Autumn/Shannon is a whole new dimension of awesome. Feel a little bad for Jake, but not too much after his ex showing up the last time around.
A little surprised at Autumn's sudden insistence that she never use her gift again after being so determined to use it prior. Perhaps some new caution and a little more determination to keep her family separate from ongoing investigations, yes, but outright denial of her own willful nature is not like our usual heroine. Guess having Destiny on the scene really shook her up more than usual. This new reluctance certainly won't help with Tawnia still in denial about her own gifts and their next adventure setting up to face their own father, who likely passed the gifts on to them in the first place. Interesting to learn that they are far more like their hated father in the long run than the mother they both idolized. Hopefully the extended family connection continues to improve and give the girls more closure.

Autumn Rain has an unusual gift, as does her twin sister. They set out to discover their roots, to see if these gifts are hereditary. On an unrelated note, they also get caught up in a murder mystery at a local theater, when a friend of Autumn's sister goes missing and a body is discovered--not the girl they're looking for.
Autumn is a strong character. She marches to her own beat as shown in her shoeless appearance, organic eating habits, and obsession with herbs and antiques. Her sister, who was raised by another family, is so completely different, yet similar. I was hoping something would develop in the Jake/Shannon triangle, but she's still confused. By the sounds of it, another book is in the works. Yay!
Third in series. The Autumn Rain series books are awesome, If you like adventurous crime solving mystery sleuthing sprinkled with romance you'll love this series. Rachel Ann Nunes is an author whose books you can truly get lost in. Her characters come alive and you feel like you know them intimately. I highly recommend her books.
Fourth book in the Autumn Rain Series line of fire is another hit. I love this series and recommend it to all who love mystery sleuthing. The fifth book in the series is expected to be released sometime in August of 2013, it's entitled Blinded and I can't wait. It's so fun to find good authors and Rachel Ann Nunes has definitely been added to my most favorite author list. Can't wait until August. :)
I picked this book up at the library sale on a whim. I had read some of Rachel's earlier books and they were OK so I wanted to give this one a try. WOW I was blown away. So it is no Charles Dickens but it was so much more than I expected. The plot was complicated, not only was there a missing person to find, and a murder to solve but the main character was also trying to discover her past and decide between two men she was interested in. Yet each plot line was fully developed and I was satisfied with the ending. Autumn Rain can touch objects and relive the feelings, thoughts and sights of the people who have touched them. The police use her to help solve mysteries. No sex (some kissing), Some violence (fighting, shooting), no language.
I got 58 pages in and gave up--although I liked the two earlier books in the "Autumn Rain" series. This one assumed that I remembered those two books better than I do, and jumped quickly into melodramatic plot points without the character or relationship development that usually sustains me through that tendency in some LDS fiction. I can just hear someone telling the author, "All that exposition just weighs down the plot" and "you have to hook the reader on the first page." Too bad, because Nunes has written some good books. This begins, at least, like a comic book complete with superheroine and "Bam! Whack!" events.
I really love the Autumn Rain series, but this one was disappointing. Nunes didn't move along the relationship issues with Shannon and Jake, just stalled throughout the book until the end, and then still left everything unresolved. Also, usually the mystery is more interesting and Autumn is more personally invested in the case. In this novel, the case was weird, not well explained, and there was no personal interest in the case besides solving it. Now there has to be another book in the series to finalize relationships and to tie everything up. Definitely didn't live up to the previous Autumn Rain novels.
Third in a series of mysteries with psychic sleuth, Autumn Rain. In some ways, the writing in these books has been awkward. Autumn is a natural, organic child of hippies, and descriptions of her lifestyle seem forced.
BUT... I do really enjoy them. I'm learning to really like the characters. She's got this love-triangle thing going, and this book we saw more of the "other" romantic interest. Seems she may be leaning that direction.
Good mysteries. This one I had pegged wrong, and I like that.
While 3rd in a series, it was the first one I had read and I felt it stood alone (even though it referred back to the others occasionally). Autumn is thrust into a murder/disappearance mystery...she has a unique power that when she touches an inanimate object she feels the emotions that were felt when others held it...the more powerful the emotion the more she can see... This power helps her to assist tracking down just what happened in the mystery. I'd definitely be interested in reading Nunes' other books in this series.
I wish that you could give half stars as I would like to give this book 3.5 stars. This book is LDS chick lit at its finest! The romance was predictable but the murder/mystery part was fun and it had enough twists and turns to keep me interested. I wish that I had known that this was not the first book in the series. I'm going to check out the first couple of books and see if I like them as well.
I enjoyed this one of the series quite a bit. I grew up in/around theater, so that was an additional fun thing for me. Good twists in this one. I figured out the bad guy, but wasn't 100% sure until it was really revealed, as the evidence against others was equally compelling. Looking forward to the next one.
I really liked it! I think this one is my favorite in the series so far but I was just missing some romance. There was pretty much zilch in that department. Maybe the next book will bring some in? Either way it was a good read. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm looking forward to the next book. :)
I've loved all the Autumn Rain books and this one is just as good. I wish there were more! The author does a fabulous job with the family dynamics, the romance, and the suspense. The paranormal angle is fun and adds a great depth to the story. I'd definitely recommend you read the entire series.
I really love this series. And this author. I didn't love her early fiction, but I think she has improved drastically as an author, and her Autumn Rain novels in particular are some of my favorite books of this genre. Highly recommend!
I love the Autumn Rain series. Some series start to get old after a while but this one still holds my attention with each book. The mystery is always different and it's fun to try to figure it out. Well written.
It was OK. I have read the other two books and I felt like something was missing. I got really tired of reading about her appetite and about all how she only at organic food. The editing wasn't very good.
LOVED this book!! The only part I didn't like was how Jake was pretty much out of the picture pretty quick. It was abrupt. She does hint that things happened between this book and the previous book, but there isn't much detail. Still, the rest of it was great!
A little slow in parts. Even though this book leaves you with unanswered questions, I think it would be good to end the series. I like Rachel Nunes earlier books.
