The year is 1789 and France teeters on the edge of revolution. This is the age and place of horrific historical characters such as Robespierre, the Marquis de Sade, and Dr. Guillotin (whose ghastly creation is about to make quite an impact). And, thanks to the Countess de Corville, another horrific character is about to join the fray — Don Sebastián de Villanueva.
Book Three of "The Don Sebastian Chronicles," Citizen Vampire finds Don Sebastián strolling the streets of Paris ... which will soon be running red with blood.
Though he's not the main character, it's always interesting to read about poor old Dr. Guillotin; the scene where they test the prototype of his infamous machine was done well. I might have enjoyed this story more if I'd read the previous books in the series; I had no idea it wasn't a standalone novel. Even so, this book was entertaining and I don't regret the time it took to read.
A fantastic 3rd entry in a very cool series. Just like the previous two books, Daniels expertly blends history with the supernatural and occult. Can't wait to read the next two in the series!
