The Rule of the Order of the Holy Cross says something to the effect that study that does not eventually result in prayer is an obscenity. This book is highly academic in style, but it points the monastic, or potential monastic, constantly back to prayer. Though not a particularly easy read, this book has deeply shaped my theoretical and theological understanding of my own life.

Liberal and feminist. I was shocked at the things she said. I don't recommend this to anyone who wants to know what religious life is about. She uses the most blatant hermeneutic of rupture to interpret the teachings of V II. Sorry guys, this is what is wrong with the world right now.
