Traces the life and career of the popular country singer who was the first recipient of the CMA's Entertainer of the Year Award, and tells the stories behind his most popular songs
Interesting look into the life of Eddy Arnold, a long term (7 decades) performer in the music industry. We called him "country", he preferred "universal performer". Described as a rags to riches story; he was a gentleman who occasionally had a drink, didn't stay out late, didn't cheat, saved his money and spent it cautiously. Not the "usual" C&W singers we've become accustomed to. He said he was boring. However all the steps along the way from a child secure in his family until his father's death to all his accolades, the culture shifts and political situations that changed the music industry and the individuals he encountered made for an interesting story.
I liked it. Though he's gone now I respect him even more.
