Rate this book
Autumn Grant is a volleyball star at Hamilton High and has her choice of both athletic and academic college scholarships. She is lovingly raised by her father and grandmother, who have taught Autumn to make sound decisions about her future. When Autumn discovers she is pregnant, however, she is determined to keep her perfect life and erase the mistake of one night by scheduling an abortion. Only five days before her surgery, the news that her grandmother and father have tragically died changes Autumn’s life forever, and she is faced with a difficult decision—whether to have the baby and raise it as her own or to give the child to her volleyball coach. Her choice becomes even more difficult when she discovers that the baby and her grandmother share an extraordinary physical trait. Touching on the adolescent themes of teenage sex, adoption, and abortion—this topical novel is poignant and inspiring.

The book was about a girl named Autumn. She is a volleyball player. She becomes pregnat by this guy named Jason. Her only family dies in a terrible car accident. She doesn't have a place to live because her grandma and dad were the only family she had. She goes to live with her best friend's family Danni. Danni's mom descovered that she's pregnant then she kick her out of her house. She becomes a homeless. Later she was living in foster care where the people who is there doesn't have a place to live. She wants to get an abortion but she could't because after her family died she was in depression and she was in her own world and when she come back as the person she was before she was going to abort and it was too late. She run way from tthe foster care and went to Nukki her volleyball couch and her partner Penny to tell them if they want her baby because she was giving it in adoption. They both accept it because they really wanted a baby. They try to work things by getting a foster parent license so she can live with them until the baby was due. After the baby was due she told Nikki and Penny that she wanted spend more time with her baby before she goes to college. she went to college with the help of a scholarhip. She's working in an animal shelter. She finds a dog that remembers her to his dad and grandmother. She also find a heart stone and she wishes some day to give it to her daughter so that way she could remember her.

This book was pretty good, but at the same time it was sad because she gave her baby to adoption and because of the tragedy of her family. I also learn that teens pregnancy is not easy and how a baby can change everyones life in a moment and change our goals.

In this rather melodramatic book, Autumn gets pregnant the first time she has sex--with a childhood friend who she's not in love with, and who her best friend, Danni has a major crush on. She plans on having an abortion, but when her father and grandmother get killed in an automobile accident she goes into a kind of fog, and by the time she's functioning again, it's too late for an abortion.

Meanwhile, she's been living at Danni's house, but Danni's very religious and self-righteous mother takes her to the county home when she realizes Autumn is pregnant, saying that she will be a bad influence on her younger daughter, and will ruin Danni's reputation.

The county home is a real eye-opener for middle-class Autumn, but she does make one friend there, and learns to hold her own with her hostile roommate.

One day she runs away and contacts her high school volleyball coach, Nikki, who agrees to take her in for one night. While there, Autumn learns that Nikki and her partner, Peggy have been hoping to adopt a child, and decides that she wants to give her baby to them. The rest of the story deals with how that will come about, and with Autumn's decisions about how much contact she'd like to have with her daughter.

Autumn makes some very adult decisions about her future without the support of a counselor, and during a time of great trauma--and that seems like the one big flaw to the book. At no time does anyone offer her any adoption counseling. Instead, Nikki and Peggy's adoption agent gives her a bunch of forms and leaves her to fill them out, which she does under some pressure from Peggy. In the hospital, after her child is born the adoption agent shows up to have her sign the final papers, and Autumn makes her go away while she makes some changes to the plan in terms of wanting more pictures and more contact.

Teens will enjoy the story and look beyond the melodramatic aspects and flaws, and will hopefully get the pointed message that the author is making about teen pregnancy and responsibility.

(disclosure: I blurbed this book)

Reynolds returns to Hamilton High with another story revolving around a teenage pregnancy, one where the girl (Autumn) decides to have an abortion. At the book's start, Autumn seems a member of the perfect life club, but both fate (her parents' death in car crash) and fateful choice (unprotected sex) change her present and her future. The book is perhaps strongest in the middle when Autumn, with no other family, is living in a county juvenile home with girls much different from her. There's a lot of issues in this book, but it is not overload, but rather showing the interconnectedness of an unfair world. Autumn's tale is a story of awful losses, fickle fate, and difficult decisions. Reynolds paints a heartbreaking portrait of one girl's broken life that can only be fixed by finding within herself strength and support in the people around her.

My book is called "No mroe Sad goodbyes " By Marilyn Reynolds. Which is realistic Fiction. autuum and Dannia re best friends .but soon after there is a breach in there relationship due to the fact that Autuam is pregannat by a former best friend Jason. The most prodominant them is preganacy and Friendship. This book test the freinds ships of 2 teenage girls tot he limit. I predict that Autumn will ahve the baby and the Volleyball coach will adopt the baby. I have experienced Rips in my friendship due to boy problems so i can relate. but having a baby is a whole nother story. This usually happens between very good friends. And th eAuthor brings it to light.

This is a book about a teenage girl who has it all. Her caring and loving Grandma and Father are raising her to be the best she can be. She is being raised to be "Part of the solution not part of the problem". Then one night... after going out for a birthday dinner with her best (platonic to this point)friend since childhood. After that night her world changes. This is a story good for adolescents who think that their choices (even the smallest ones) don't change their future. A great lesson in love and hope.

This book was very hard to put down. The story covers quite a few social issues. Adoption, abortion, peer pressure, homelessness and quite a few others.
I was very very happy to see two things. The first thing I was very pleased to have come across was seeing a same-sex couple adopting a baby.
You don't see too many books that cover this topic.
The other thing I was proud to see in this novel was they had a male nurse working on the maternity ward. There was actually a thread about that on all nurses one time. Keep up the good work. Very very enjoyable read. :-)

This book was a little hard to get into at first but still pretty good. I think a lot of people can easily relate to this one considering how many young teens are ending up pregnant without having any idea on hwo to raise a baby. How can a child raise another child? I think people need to stop and think about their actions. Half the time these teens have no way to support a baby and are nto even mature enough to do so. But anyways all in all it was an Okay book.

What can I say? Marilyn Reynolds is genuis when it comes to YA Lit. I am so taken by the "reality" in her books, especially the 'True to Life series from Hamilton High'. Her writing makes the reader love her characters, no matter the flaw, and teaches us all a lesson - the perspective is our own to create. WOW!
