On March 16, 1968, members of the First Platoon, Charlie Company, First Battalion, Twentieth Infantry, swept into a Vietnamese hamlet called My Lai. The soldiers remained for 5 hours. When they departed the GI's left hundreds o Vietnamese civilians, including children, lying dead. The chain of command began with President Lyndon Johnson & ended with Lieutenant William L. Calley, Jr., Platoon Leader. Calley was found guilty of premeditated murder at a trial at Fort Benning, GA, on March 30, 1971. There was public outcry for the decision. And so, the story of Lt. Calley just begun.
