I think I became a writer the day I decided to write a (very bad, shamefully close to the real story) version of White Fang when aged nine or ten! As for the Middle Ages I fell in love with it at school during a history lesson, then Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood put its final seal on it all. A girl of twelve then, I never recovered!

A fantastic story

Talk about a love story for the ages, that describes both Hazel and Cormac. I hope this author writes more books like the Dark Warrior.

It's an easy read and the pages fly by as you are taken with Hazel and Cormac's adventures and you can see the love and passion growing between them.

I loved the description of the countryside, as England and Scotland are very dear to my heart. The details about life in that time-period made it really come to life!

On the one hand you want to keep reading to know what will happen, on the other hand you want to put it away so it won't finish and you have to say goodbye to the book and characters. Tough choice!

I loved this book a lot and hope to be reading other books (and hopefully more set in Scotland or Wales) soon!

I loved this book. It was an easy read for me.
The descriptions of the landscapes are amazing. I felt like I had been transported back in time. I fell in love with the main characters (Hazel and Carmac) as they build a relationship throughout the book. The conflicts/problems in the book were time period appropriate and descriptive. I can’t wait to read more Historical Scottish Romance books!

Review:
Dark Highlander. Another great hit by Virginie Marconato!!! I loved this book so much, I couldn't put it down,
The story follows Lady Hazel Fletcher, a young noblewoman who is held hostage in her father’s cruel and ruthless political schemes. Lord Fletcher determined to use his daughter as a pawn in his opposition to Scottish independence, orchestrates a web of deceit that destroys Hazel’s life. When Hazel discovers that she is pregnant by her lover a neighboring nobleman her father uses this opportunity to manipulates the narrative and falsely accusing a proud Scotsman named Cormac MacLeod of being the father. Cormac, Loyal in his honor and unwilling to be a pawn in this deceit, finds himself unjustly imprisoned when he refuses to marry Hazel. Faced with betrayal and the oppressive machinations of her own family, Hazel’s world is thrown into turmoil. In the midst of all the craziness, Hazel and Cormac form an unlikely alliance and bond. United by desperation and a shared longing for freedom, they make a daring escape into the perilous Highlands. Their journey is fraught with danger and difficult choices, as they navigate treacherous landscapes both physical and emotional in a battle against forces determined to keep them apart. I would 100% percent read this book again and again. Absolutely amazing

Review: Five stars! This book was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed Hazel's & Cormac's characters. The relationship that grows between them and the attraction that develops kept me reading . The character developement as the story progresses fits well with the time period ( medieval England) The storyline flowed effortlessly. The setting details added to the story giving you a complete picture of what medieval life was like, especially for a young woman in that era. I finished this book in one sitting! I only wish that this book were part of a series , so I can continue reading the story between these two.

This one was a nice surprise from Virginie 😊

Story took a little time to get rolling, but it all clicked eventually.

Must read if you fancy
a prejudiced Scot/Sassenach situation,
with a roadtrip on the run from a mad father
and involving the child of another man
plus some plausible misunderstandings/miscommunications.
Some witty banter
Two likeable mains
😄
I had two real stabs of angst on behalf of the mains, which is something I’ve been missing in Romance lately.

Steamwise it’s a very slow build with a lot of thinking of, and talking about, smeggsy times, but after 60% the mains are allowed to claim eachother with lots of variable 🍆🌊🍒🌸 and not just words and kisses 😘
