Olivia Andrews is a team leader on an FBI Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team. With the goal of trying to erase the void left in her life by her tumultuous childhood in the foster care system, Liv has dedicated her professional life to reuniting kidnapped children with the parents who want and love them. The problem is, more kids have turned up dead lately than alive.
Sophie Kane is a new member of Liv’s team and has training in hostage negotiation. She grew up in an ultra-conservative family and was shunned when she came out to her parents at the age of sixteen.
A child abduction case in rural Pennsylvania brings the two women together, and they find themselves trying to deny the mutual attraction they have while working together to stop the kidnapper. But the ghosts of the past, and the kidnapper himself, threaten to derail their budding relationship before it can even begin.
PJ Trebelhorn was born and raised in the greater metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon. Her love of sports — mainly baseball and ice hockey — was fueled in part by her father’s interests. She likes to brag about the fact that her uncle managed the Milwaukee Brewers for five years, and the Chicago Cubs for one year.
PJ now resides in western New York with Cheryl, her partner of many years, and their menagerie of pets. When not writing or reading, PJ spends her time rooting for the Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles, or watching movies. (from the publisher's website)

Thriller Romance is one of my favorite genres, and I wanted to love this, but this book didn't make it easy. And that’s never a good sign considering books in this genre aim to be suspenseful and thrilling. The first few chapters thoroughly had my attention. This is a BIG plus for me considering I’ve read 2O something 1st pages prior to this one and none of them caught my attention.
Conversation with PL yesterday morning Me: I don't know what is going on but nothing is grabbing my attention. I have tonnes of books but nothing to read. PL: Dude same!!! I've read like the first pages of so many books lately.
Usually in TR reads I can almost always overlook a weak romantic connection because I like my books to have more thriller than romance, but in this case, the thriller aspect was lacking in the jump scare portion and combined with an unbelievable instant romance, I wanted this book to be over right after the leads' first unofficial baseball game date then "would you like to come up for something to drink" followed by "your muscles are so tight" - shoulder massage, kissing eventually and BOOM! “Please, Liv, bedroom. Now.”
There were a lot of unnecessary details and discrepancies that left me questioning where the book was going and what was the point. I think, authors who are planning to write romance mixed with another genre/s should include a notification in the blurbs like this 👇 This book contains 97.5% romance and 2.5% bullpoop thriller wannabe so read it at your own risk.
I've heard this too many times Friend: Why don't you read strictly thriller? Me: It's the bi in me, I always want the best of both worlds.
Seemed to me a bit too fast on the romance and lengthy on rounding up the story. Asides this, the story was entertaining though no mystery...you could know the guilty almost from the very beginning. I'd give it a 3.5 rating
