Low Speed Wind Tunnel Testing 3rd (third) Edition by Barlow, Jewel B., Rae, William H., Pope, Alan published by John Wiley & Sons

Rate this book
There are two types of wind tunnels high-speed, used to test high velocity vehicles - rockets, jet aircraft, etc.; and low-speed, used to test vehicles which travel at a rate of under 300 mph, which represent the majority of products developed - such as automobiles, propeller aircraft, etc. This book covers all aspects of the technology from the design and use of wind tunnels to the complex instrumentation required to analyze the effects that the tunnel has on the product being tested.

Considered the best low speed wind tunnel reference by my instructor, I found this textbook very instructive in a subject in which I had no previous experience. It affirmed several points I had previously learned on the nature of experimentation in general and provided new information on how to successfully conduct wind tunnel studies in academia or industry. This text is rich with content written by seasoned experimental aerodynamicists - a feast for the novice eager to learn from the masters.
