That's another thing about wall safes, they're portable. They have to be or you couldn't stick them in the wall."As you can see, there is no hard edge to this series. I met Lawrence Block back in my racewalking days at a weekend clinic and had online conversations about walking marathons, and I tend to think Bernie Rhodenbarr is equipped with Block's personal sense of humor. These are certainly not in any way autobiographical, but still, when I picture Bernie, he's a young Lawrence Block. I haven't read his Matthew Scudder series, but I'd bet dollars to donuts I wouldn't consider having Block and Scudder merge.
