Practical advice that reassures readers that what they're going through is normal. It made me feel better to be able to read the stages and know what to expect--especially during this first year.
This book really helped me. I did pick it up after the intial shock had worn off and I was only starting to get back into functioning somewhat normally. He has some great advice on how to get your life back. The part I disagreed with was his casual attitude towards sex and multiple partners.
I bought this well over a year after my therapist recommended it - wish I'd read it sooner. It certainly helped me not feel so alone with what I had felt after my separation. I found it easy to read, and clear and concise.
I rented this book from the library to refer to a friend. I decided to read it first. I found it very insightful. My friend is now going through it and finding it helpful.
