This would be a great book if it weren’t so dated. It spends a lot of time talking about film (how quaint) and the Advanced Photo System (now obsolete), which I had never heard of. It mentions digital photography a little bit and has a photo of a 4 MB (that’s megabyte) SD card. It’s all so cute.
But it is written with great enthusiasm for the subject in a very easy-going, conversational manner. It’s designed to be skimmed and used as reference. It’s written with no-frills point-and-shoot cameras in mind. (I finally got myself a DSLR and was just looking for a refresher on f-stops and stuff like that.) The sections on lighting and composition and focusing are always relevant and universal.
