I started this book a number of years ago. This week I'm purposfully taking the week to intentionally study and work on material for the upcoming school year. This was the first book that I wanted to read when re-visiting Revelation in preparation for a class I'm teaching this fall. While I have already encountered much (if not all) of the material (mostly due to students of Dr. Lowery whom I've read/listened to), this book is still a vital resource for anyone looking to read and learn more about the last 'book' we have in the Bible. Dr. Lowery does a masterful job at helping students of the Scriptures, both new and old alike, approach Revelation with level headedness and humilty in order to seek out understading and truth. In addition to the methods and 'tools' Dr. Lowery provides in this short little book, he also provides an extensive list of Old Testament allusions found within Revelation. This feature alone is well worth the book! Overall, I highly recommend this (as a starter or as a refresher) if you are engaging with Revelation on any level.

A short, extremely helpful read on navigating what can be an intimidating book. Dr Lowery was a remarkable teacher and scholar. More than that, his influence on my life was the humility, conviction and love with which he taught. These things all shine through in this book. It’s helpful and thoughtful while also still being accessible. If you’re looking for a resource to help you read Revelation, or even just to learn a little more about how to approach the study of scripture in general, I can’t recommend this one enough.

This is an important book on how to read the book of Revelation in the Bible. Dr. Lowery says that “the dominant emphasis in the prophetic writings is not on predicting the future but on proclaiming God’s will.” Also, he points out that as we read Revelation, “in light of the future God has promised, what would he have us do now in order to be faithful to the Lamb?”
This book is a must read for anyone who wants to understand how to approach reading Revelation.

If you’re looking for an introduction to reading Revelation, this is one of the best. Lowry builds the foundational elements (context, genre, etc.) brick by brick using applicable examples and simple language so that readers can begin to understand the complex nature of the book.

If you want to understand how to read/understand Revelation (the last book in the Bible), read this book. Dr. Lowery has spent his life studying Revelation and he writes clearly and helps the reader see the challenging meaning of Revelation. It had a meaning for the first readers and has a very intense one for us also. And, Dr. Lowery was my New Testament professor in Seminary (which has little to do with the review, but oh well).

Not a verse-by-verse commentary, but an exegetical guidebook, Revelation’s Rhapsody highlights and illustrates the hermeneutical principles necessary to effectively interpret and apply the book of Revelation. Written for popular-level consumption, Lowery offers a useable – but not shallow – approach to understanding and living out the message of book, all the while whetting the readers’ appetite to read Revelation on their own. A phenomenal book by a fantastic scholar and a very Godly man. This isn't a commentary in the traditional sense, but is intended to help prepare a person to understand the genre and style of the very unique book of Revelation. I had the privilege of learning under this man, and I cannot rate this book highly enough.

A great introductory work to understanding the book of Revelation. Although Dr. Lowery (while he was alive) was one of the foremost scholars on Revelation in the United States Dr. Lowery has provided the common reader an easy to understand, very accessible book to help set the groundwork for further study.

This is a very good book for anyone looking for a light read on how to approach the book of Revelation. We supplemented this at Round Lake with a video taught class by Dr. Lowery. The class was very successful and a lot of people are telling me how helpful Dr. Lowery's teaching has been.

This book breaks down all of the weird and difficult barriers that have always held me back from approaching Revelation with confidence. A definite must read for anyone wanting to understand Revelation. I only wish Dr. Lowery would have lived longer to keep writing on this book.

Excellent introduction to the book of Revelation. Dr. Lowery cuts through a lot of the endless speculation over the individual images in the book and gives a great overview of the book's purpose, meaning and symbolism.

This is the most concise resource on how to study the Book of Revelation. Lowery has done the Christian community a great service in having written this work. Though he has passed on from this earth, he continues to serve the Church with this book.
