This is the first book on the biblical scriptures of Luke 4:1-13 that I have read. Author, Steven J. Lawson takes this biblical passage about Satan's temptation of Jesus Christ and dissects it to help the believer better understand the character and nature of the Jesus, the motivation and character of Satan, and how Satan tempted Him and us. The author takes time to conduct a comparison of Jesus and Satan. He also dissects the nature of the three temptations: the lust if the flesh; the lust of the eyes; and the boastful pride of life. This book is effective in teaching the reader all about the aforementioned points. Mr. lawson's writing style is good but not great. What is a stumbling block for the reader is the overuse of repetition by the author. At times, it is frustrating but I can see the instructional value of it. Hearing it is easier and more effective than reading about the same point, half a dozen times in each chapter. Overall, I recommend this book because of its topic and success in teaching the reader how to be prepared and defend one's self from the temptations of Satan.
