After the fiasco of her last relationship, Lauren has sworn off feelings. The only way to maintain control of her life is to keep her heart locked away. And her blind date with pro-running back Miles Santos only confirms her stance. Covered in tattoos, he’s arrogant and self-centered, and there’s not a one thing they have in common. Which is why it’s so incredibly bizarre when he appears on her doorstep to make a scandalous spend every Friday night with him and he’ll do whatever she wants.
DARK INTENTIONS
The last thing Miles needs is another complication. He’s living a double life, trying to fix a past that’s eating him up inside while gunning for MVP status. To do both, he needs to play at his best, and he’s found a good luck charm in the unlikeliest of women. Lauren is contrary and frustrating and … funny when she’s not masquerading as an ice queen. She’s even quite beautiful when she smiles, and before he realizes it, he’s spending more time with her, thinking of her, wanting her. But does he crave her because of her luck or because she’s the first person to forgive him for his dark desires? Can he convince Lauren to open her heart or will he lose the one closest to him yet again?

This was so problematic and gross and one of the most toxic depictions of a relationship I’ve ever read very much ew I hate trusting booktok with random ass quotes I literally never learn my lesson
They had excellent chemistry, amazing spice. I just don’t believe they’d actually be happy as individuals and remain a couple if they don’t get some serious therapy. I didn’t really want to give this 4 stars because of the way everyone’s trauma is just glossed over at the end but the chemistry was just too damn good.
i had to dnf this at 25% because of poorly this was written. i didn't enjoy one single page because of how toxic and annoying the whole thing was (sorry to the author but seriously what the hell??)
Because it was mid, but it was cute like I didn’t hate myself after I read it and I actually liked some parts?
Anyway 3 because when it comes to my thoughts idk if I have any. Honestly the story went in and out of me so fast that I barely remember anything.
I liked the sisters relationship, I hope they get their own stories because honestly they do deserve it :( but more than that for it being soccer based there wasn’t a whole lot about soccer or his team. And when they were mentioned or in the scene they left just as fast. It wasn’t bad tho because otherwise I would’ve been bored.
I did get a bit bored. Not enough to stop reading but enough to put it down.
Also the writing is a bit hard to follow and is probably my main issue. It’s on third person but it flits back and forth like a pov, it’s sudden and she usually doesn’t adress which character is talking to who until mid way through the paragraph or longer. So I got confused a few times. Like I went back to reread and it didn’t help at all. The scenery the time skips were all sudden and not addressed. Like you just had to infer. It doesn’t even say that times gone by, like it carries on in the chapter as if it’s the same day but it’s one week later? It was honestly annoying - like the writing itself was good but the positioning was awful
Loved the fl, she was such a good balance of everything and she wasn’t there for stupid misunderstandings or random breakups. The ml was… okay? I LOVED LIKE LITERALLY OBSESSED w the way he called her pretty girl and lucky like I would collapse. I also like the way he confronted her w his thoughts 90% of the time. It’s just that 10% at the end that ticked me a little :/ Like she was honest and in ur face and kinda just gave ur own energy back and you made her have an asthma attack like damn. I understand his trauma so i can move on w my life but.
ALSO THE EX why was she so nice to him Should’ve laughed in his face

This is the first book I've ever seriously reviewed and I just have to ask wtaf is wrong with these sisters why are they so desperate to date and find significant others they don't seem to have daddy issues their relationship with their parents seems healthy enough, like when the fmc was just worried about one of them bc she almost got raped and they totally disregarded it as her being a pessimistic bitch? Why did the fmc fall so hard for Brian in the first place if he was a shitty person their entire relationship ofc manipulative s/o's are a thing but shouldn't her character's back story been more present in that case, am I missing something??? The third-act break-up was so infuriating and I had to skip most of it I mean he called her a whore and then she just brushed it off as if it was no big deal!? The ending was fine ig but there was no resolution their trauma wasn't addressed, just glossed over. In conclusion, they both need therapy because wth. no rating bc my feelings are too mixed, the storyline and characters are much more complex than the blurb suggests which is good I suppose? Definitely not what I was expecting to read tonight, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either I just don't know how to feel.

… what’s more to say. Chambers’ witting is gorgeous. It’s expressive, lyrical, and utterly devastating. I fell in love with Miles alongside Lauren, and cried when she cried. This book was a journey, one with more hills than plains, but boy was it worth the read. The characters are witty, complex, and inherently fallible which makes them all the more enticing. I can’t imagine a better way to put to life a book like this, Chambers takes the cake. There’s angst and spice in all the right places. The fmc is strong and actually process through her traumas and uses it to her benefit and that of others, and by god the heartache and longing laced into every word… what more can I say other than that it’s…
The worst part of this book is that M L Chambers is actually a good writer. Sure they need an editor and the typos were all over the place - but the story arc, the internal and external motivations, the side characters, the banter. It’s all here. So when I tell you this author beautifully crafted a fucking turd-ball MMC who needs more therapy than a lifetime’s worth of Bachelorette contestants, BELIEVE ME.
At first I was on board with an enemies to lovers that actually started as enemies, and thought it was pulling around, but there is a scene at the 90% mark that will make you sick. It unravels all the character development from the entire book, turns our MMC into a predator and our FMC into a pushover. Something she was working to overcome the entire novel. Who asked for this?
My favorite book I wasn't sure to read this one after the marriage offensive but Miles wasn't what i expected the way he was with Lauren and how he cared about her and the girls and protect them, I especially like how he never let heroine ex treat her like shit and how he call her pretty girl and wow the scene in which he star praying 🥵🥵 And Lauren she love him so much and keep fighting for him because she knew he was a good man who need someone to never leave him and Lauren was that someone fighting for him . M L Chambers this was the best book of the series. I will wait for the next book

Absolutely love Miles! (So much that I created a Goodreads profile just to rate this book.) From the end of the first chapter, the book has become my most favorite romance book. I love their chemistry/ banter from the get-go. I belive this is a part of a series but it's only one I've read so I'm excited to read more of this author's work!
First a round of applause for chapter 17 cause baybeeeeee yes ma'am yes yes yes yes yes. But I loved it at first I was like what are we doing here with her sibling relationship but I love every character in here Lauren better than me tho cause at some points I would have caught an attitude and slammed a door in Miles's face but I guess that's love

The complex characters, the genuine sassy banter (not just low hitting jokes) and I ADORE the eyebrow raises at conclusions throughout the book and not just at the start! I love how ML Chambers writes her women and men and cannot get enough of this series!!
It was going okay but I had to skip through the last few chapters as I don’t enjoy women going above and beyond for someone who disregarded them 10 seconds prior, I loved miles and his backstory but the story towards the end wasn’t that enjoyable, essentially DNF at 85% :(
Honestly when I first saw this book I was not expecting a big thing out of it. I was just expecting a little romance book about luck. This book had me sobbing. It just hit a nerve that I was not expecting. I really enjoyed this book.
This was a cute fun read with lots of ups and downs. I laughed and yelled at this book more than you can and still seem sane, but it was such a fun read with the hero who thinks he's a villain and the guiding light to show him he's just the hero.
I would walk through fire for this man. Miles. MILES.
There is so much I could say but I am feeling the post-5 star-haze so I can’t find the words, other than my heart and my cup are full, and I might cry.
I absolutely loved that story and could literally not put my kindle down... Lauren and Miles had such a sweet story, from the hilariously failed first date to the heartwarming end, I loved each and every page. Also, the other characters (apart from the protoganists) were quite funny and well-written; I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series 🥰❤️
